I did my Barbour last month and it’s looking brand new
Hey Ash, I love wearing sweaters in the fall and winter. I’m not much of a summer person. I love cold weather. You can always layer jackets, gloves etc. you can’t take off all your clothes and walk about the city conducting your business in the summer time. Fall and winter are my favorite times of the year. Nice video. Perhaps you can do a winter video. Thank you.
So true.
Growing up in Texas all my life and in my 30s, I can feel you I hate summer. Tired of the humidity and the heat and the fact I can't wear fall and winter clothing like most of that country. (Houston area) I'm over it. I'm out of here.
When one wears a scarf and a hat of the same color, it really looks nice. I purchased a brown bowler and a brown Irish tweed scarf over the Summer. I can't wait to wear them together. The brown will really be pronounced when worn with my black pea coat.
Sounds like a great autumn colour combo. I'll be getting my bowler out very soon.
This was an excellent video! The prep angle is very useful, more of that please!
Aah. The favorite season is coming. I'm still waiting and hoping for your rainwear presentation.
I will produce one later in the season.
I love the mention of the homburg! I love those hats, I am often found with one in lieu of a fedora in the cooler months with my formal, dark suits or dinner suits.
An excellent choice of formal headwear sir.
This video encourages me to get started with wearing a hat.
I'm now fully equipped for autumn love the colour and texture of the clothing.
Farlows Litchfield waterproof tweed is an exceptional outer garment. Good show, excellent review old boy.
Good morning...another excellent video...great advice..thank you!!!!!!!
Honestly, Ash, this is one of your best videos yet. Well done, sir.
Glad you think so!
Another great video Ash. Finding your site is one of the best things that has happened to me lately. Thanks for what you do.
Glad you enjoy it!
Ash loves an Autumn video, you can just tell lol
Great video Ash. Love the simple style tips. About time I put some effort in. Thanks for lifting the bar. Cheers! Phil
Happy to help!
Nice tips!
Goodness me, I enjoyed this! You have become a fixture in my life, Ash. I love the comment about looking ‘this good in your 50s’.
Delighted my humble efforts have been of service to you sir
@@TheChapsGuide as always

Hi Ash, I just discovered your channel and I really have to say that I'm impressed by the frequency and quality of your videos and content. Your outlook and delivery has me enjoying a fresh outlook on life. There are few others on the internet who I've found can accomplish this. And I'd like to say that you are a beacon of style and class in 2021. Cheers from Wisconsin USA, and stay well.
Thank you sir, it's a pleasure to her that my simple and rather humble observations have resonated with you. I may be accused of being old fashioned, but good style never dies!!
great info ash
magnificent video as always Ash can't wait until the next one, great topic and brilliant advice,I love a sunny cold day when I can get out my Harris Tweed jacket & scarf and leather loake gloves.you showed some stunning boots in this video Ash what name are they please looked a bit like a military boot.love your attire once again Ash you looked very smart and casual at the same time, many thanks from one chap to another.
I've just filmed a separate 'autumn footwear choices' vid, which will be along in a week or so to assist with your question. I cant wait for the cooler days to break out the winter gear.
Great Autumn prep video! But i can’t not consider Burberry’s raincoats, either simple, double breasts and wool linen. Great deals on vintages for this timeless garmet! I’m a big fan
Careful with Renovateur; it may remove the factory finish on new shoes. Crème Universelle is a better choice.
Bring out the browns you know that winters here.
I do also love tweets and herringbone things like that though I wouldn’t exactly agree with switching one’s wardrobe to something darker as I think in the dark months everything around one is already getting so dark so unwelcoming why not wear something like a super colourful tweet or a pair of burgundy shoes with a beaurdox sweater and maybe some nicely cream coloured chinos just something colourful in general
Watching I'm my shorts and t shirt September is often good weather here in UK However, I do like a bit of Harris Tweed in the cooler months and my jacket is freshly waxed
One small oversight; fall is the time to put your gin to bed for the winter and bring out your whiskey.
Excellent tips as always Ash.
I do though, manage to maintain my boyish good looks without the intervention of SPF protection or moisturiser 😉.
Just embarking on a career change, roll on different corporate wear...
Submariner's jumper and waxed cotton jacket are now to hand for weekend jaunts.
Sounds like the perfect life combo to me - sounds like my own wardrobe actually.
@@TheChapsGuide Sadly corporate wear is a branded Polo shirt and Cargo Trouser work "Pants", teamed with safety boots.
The Tweed is ready for "off duty", but it remains too unseasonably warm to wear it.
Great as always! How do you take care of your leather gloves, so they always look the best?
I occasionally apply a very thin application of Renpur leather balm to nourish the leather, works a treat.
So, a curiosity, I would love to hear how you store away your off season clothing? I'm fairly limited in space so looking for ideas.
Good question. I’ll try and feature a video when we transition from summer to autumn. Thank you sir.
Ash I can't wait for tweed and Barbour season. Nice waistcoat. Is that loden? What brand is it? Another triumph my friend. Cheers Ron
The waistcoat is a tweed number from mainstream retailer Next. I picked it up for £10 in a sale.
@@TheChapsGuide good deal
You forgot a typical autumn headwear: my DEERSTALKERS. They come in various patterns and colours - and they really keep you snugly warm and aren't blown off that easily like flat caps.
I have yet to venture into deerstalkers - but never say never!
Hi Ash I'm just in the process of accessorising and your mention of gloves was spot on. I'm looking to get some burgundy/oxblood gloves but after trawling the Internet I'm struggling to find any in any colour other than brown or black. Do you have any suggestions please of places to try?
I wear gloves from Southcombe Gloves, a small heritage company in Somerset, who make great gloves a surprisingly modest prices. I favour these unlined military gloves that have a lovely chestnut colour: www.southcombe.com/unlined-uniform-leather-gloves. Have a poke around their website, they have some nice pieces.
Thanks just looking now.
nice... when going away at hotels etc of a weekend, i normally take a separate pair of shoes from the evening, currently I carry them in their box and a cloth type bag, but i want to upgrade this, i do have a small suitcase that I'm happy with (this contains my toiletries, laptop etc), but i can;t seem to find a bag just for shoes, do they exist, and what would you recommend?
I am not aware of separate shoe luggage, although I'm sure such things may exist. I personally aim for maximum versatility when travelling (usually by air) and opt for shoes that can bridge all the requirements of my trip in one go - semi brogues are usually a great fit for most things.
@@TheChapsGuide thanks, I'll continue to look and will let you know how i get on...yes, i normally wear my loake hoskins of an evening, and less formal boots during the day :)
Hi Ash, regarding boot care. When cleaning and polishing weekly do you always use Saphir Renovateur first - or can it be a 2:1 / 3:1 ratio.
I use Renovateur about once a month or when needed. I sometimes only use Renovateur if the shoes are looking good and just need a touch-up. It's on a case by case basis really.
it rubs the lotion on the skin or else it gets the hose again !
