For anybody who might be thinking about learning or wants some solid coaching to develop their form, this is your guy. I spent my 1st day surfing on my own and caught 1 wave. The next day I had Anthony come coach me and caught 30. We ended doing 6 sessions and I’ve never spent better money. Also, he’s just a helluva lot of fun to surf with. Thanks again coach. Your stoke is unreal. I’ll be out for my first sesh of the season tomorrow and I can’t wait.
Aaron you are the man! Your improvement has been exponential, and it's always a pleasure trading waves with you! Bummer we didn't get to surf today, that dang SanO line hahaha see you soon brotha!
Good stuff, i surf a slightly bigger SUP and dropping in late can be sketchy due to not wanting to pearl. The part about commuting 100 percent is spot on. Even if you eat it you didnt miss the wave entirely.
Fantastic lesson here. All too often when I am dropping in late, I don’t commit and just fall off the back of my board. After watching this, I will now make it a point to try and drop in on white water, commit to it, and make the wave. Thanks for making this video.
This is great info. I have been taking this advice and getting 3 times more waves than the others out there - without having to ride anything but what gets missed by the other boarders. Thanks for the tips... Onto the roundhouse next!
Great video. Waiting for more/ Suggestion: how to pass the foam prone paddling, how to go out from the inside when you get struck in the middle of the s… set…
Super helpful, I have blown many waves trying to paddle in on my heel side vs toe side. It's wobbly and unstable and can result in some gnarly wipeouts on bigger steeper waves. I will put this into practice....
Thanks for the video. I watched it the other day and today pulled off a ridiculously late drop generating a ton of speed down the line saving what would have been a certain wipeout.
thank you for your advice, I would also like to have beautiful long waves, it's rare in Thailand. The waves are small and break quickly. Sometimes they are better during the rainy season from June to October.
Hey bro, cool video. There are not a lot of videos that show the transition between waves ie. pulling off a wave and paddling back out fast to catch another wave or after completing a wave and how to deal with the inside, making the decision whether to get to your feet, prone paddle or wait for a lull etc. Cheers pal
Nice video, i'm surfing on a 80L sup, it's really slow, any tips on how to pass big whitewater ? Sometimes it's too hard to pass over it. It's really a cool idea to make more how to sup video, cheers
Awesome video! This helped me out so much I applied this to my SUP session today and what a difference paddling in on my toe side. I’m on the east coast Long Island we just had a nice run of swell from hurricane Epsilon thanks for the help broooo 🏄🏼
Great information! I still surf parallel stance...I also paddle into the wave just on my right side😅 I'll try your tips! Thank you! Jersey has been too cold for me!🤣
Awesome video, so you always keep your right foot near the rail you want to turn? I mean on the backside I saw you put it a few inches near the rail not the center... Trying to learn backside, I just move to another place were the only spot to surf is backside (I'm regular...feeling the struggle)
When actually surfing... Frontside I am always trying to keep my feet centered. Backside I will tend to open up back foot more and get it more inside for bottom turning leverage, but in reviewing footage I may try to get more centered and improve backside bottom turn with paddle switch.
Great instructionals thank you. Q, I fall off when I'm not looking where I'm going will it always be that way? Could you tell us what boards you ride in your intro great to see how they perform and how I could progress my knowledge and tools. Thank you 😊
For the last 6 years I have been progressing towards Anthony's level but all the time I've been stuck on heel side paddling, I can't seem to paddle toe side, can you please help?
What's up Tim! Appreciate the message! What seems to be the biggest challenge keeping the paddle on your toe side? When I prone paddle on my stomach and then pop up to semi surf stance, it feels the most natural to have the paddle on toe side, less reaching.
Ill take a Pocahontas paddle out any day rather than watching a hacking mediocre paddle switch hacking paddling down the line while powered up SUPer any day. Surf more flail less.

Yeah but where is he/the teaching based?? There's not even a tag to a school or anything in the description!!🤔

When I think of “SUP” and S.U.P....This is the man I envision stating the former, and teaching the latter...
One of the best 👌 explanations I watched! Very clear
Awesome Anthony, really like seeing the late takeoffs. Thanks!
YEW thank you Steve for always watching!
Great! bring em on! Like the commentary with lots of different waves and that it wasn't like step one, step two, but more organic.

@@Twonicles Awesome, thanks now let's stack some new clips: Let goooo yewww.🏄♂️
Hi Anthony, your videos are top notch! Question: how long is your paddle compared to your height?
Shorter than me! I am 5’11 and it barely comes to my nose
thank you for your advice, I would also like to have beautiful long waves, it's rare in Thailand. The waves are small and break quickly. Sometimes they are better during the rainy season from June to October.
Yes California is a very good surfing destination!
@@Twonicles yes I spent a semester at the University of San Diego 27 years ago, very good memories
Ha funny you should mention Thailand. Went to Koh Samui. No surf there. Were you by Phuket?

Hi great vid. Any chance you can tell your weight and length of board and volume? Just curious. Thx
75 liters!

East coast winter is gnarly! keep at it, we all get to that break though moment where everything starts connecting!
I miss so Much videos like this! I have problems whit my back side bottom and top turn! What do you recommend??
Huzzit.....can you make one how to paddle switches....mahalos!
Yea stanton! Thinking of doing one with frontside paddle switch cutbacks too. Thank you for the comment and watch!!!
@@Twonicles For sure bro.....just getting started out in sup surfing...and your videos are helping me out....cheehoo.
Could you do something around paddle switch? Please. I can’t figure that shit out...lol
Check out my 2nd how to video on paddle switch carves!!
Great videos man! Any tips of board selection as a beginner, not looking for cheapest, just a decent board to ride.
My recommendation for a beginner is to buy the cheapest boards as you may progress rapidly and want a smaller board
@@Twonicles thanks for the advice 🙏
Good advice, thanks.
Thank you John for watching!
Great Video! What are the measurements on the board your riding in the video and liters?
Hello Billy thanks for watching!!! Check out my board review episode I talk about all these boards and all the dimensions are listed

Awesome! Anyone know RE inflatable SUP?
Epic kuz. I’m just about ready to commit to a performance sup. Would 8 foot be a good ripper? Or something I’m the 7s
I Started on 10' 5" just to cruise, then 9'2" longboard style, then 8'0 round nose, then finally to the 7'4" range that I'm at now!
Also, thank you for the Subscribe! Yewwwwww
Massive my brother thank you 🙏🏽

If you don't mind sharing whats your equipment and your weight?
Most of my board are 72 to 75 liters. I weigh 170 lbs, about 77 kg

Thank you Tim!!! Appreciate the subscribe as well!
Any newbies watching this, you can only paddle out prone if your on a small board. The big boards are too wide for you to prone paddle.
Muy bueno amigo.
Gracias Tyler!!!! yewwwww
Dude!
Bro!!! Haha thanks John, appreciate the subscribe as well!!
I stand alone.
Don't think there is a "how to" throw SUP airs video anywhere on RUclips.
Haha soooooon! I feel like I'm Still always learning them too 😂
How to drop in late? First, have a short board that allows you to do so.
Ill take a Pocahontas paddle out any day rather than watching a hacking mediocre paddle switch hacking paddling down the line while powered up SUPer any day. Surf more flail less.
Give me some hair bro
Keep the hair short :)
