Cheers bud, I was born in 86 and grew up with this. I recommend the Don Bluth trio Land Before Time, An American Tail, and Secret of NIMH, three kids movies that are better watching as an adult.

As a kid in the 70s & early 80s this came on once a year like lots of shows and I'd look forward to it like crazy. This one, another Puff 'episode' and Rikki Tikki Tavi were huge favorites. So many kids will never see stuff like this anymore.
I used to watch this all the time in the 80s. I agree with Adam. I thought this was like 90 mins, not 23. Amazing how your perspective is at 4 yrs old.
LOL ITS ONLY 23 MINUTES LONG!!! Thanks for pointing that out. Children's lives are formed by minutes, seconds. That's inspiration to always be gentle with children. You never know what 20 minutes of hell they'll remember.

my dad showed me this as a kid. he is an alcoholic and narcissist who abused me my entire childhood. i remember the good parts of my dad and this cartoon brings it all back to me. my dad is creative and intelligent and funny. it hurts to remember the good pieces of my dad while knowing how much pain he’s caused me. i am now no contact with him and although i know it’s for the better it still hurts remembering how much of a wonderful dad he could be. i used to look up to him like god. now i find myself wishing for him to be different. it hurts. watching this hurts. i miss who i thought was my dad all those years ago.

As of writing this is the first time I am watching this, having been born in 2003 I mostly grew up on spongebob and cartoon network, so I dont have the nostalgia people associate with this, but even still I can tell it's one of those cartoons that feel more like a work of art than just a medium of entertainment.
I was born in 2007. I grew up mainly at my grandmother's house. She had this on VHS and I'd watch it all the time, so much so I learned to navigate a player at a young age.. I turn to this movie whenever I'm feeling down. My grandma died a year ago, I sang the song at her funeral. The song and movie may be old but its something that'll stick in a child's mind :>
Nostalgia shouldn't matter when you watched, but why instead. I discovered this back in '09 in grade 6, the story and songs were so charming it has been in my head for years. Be happy you watched it now, than never. Years from now, you'll be glad to have come across it
I’m going thru a really tough time in my life atm and my dad reminded me of puff the magic dragon. I used to watch it as a kid. I can’t believe I remember so much of this. But I was crying the whole time. I feel like this was all meant to be. I really needed puff to tell me to be brave right now. Thanks Puff ❤
I was born in 1971 and am 52 now. I remember seeing this cartoon when it was brand new on TV. The chicken soup part and the closing music stayed on my mind more than anything else. All else put aside, Puff the Magic Dragon was wonderful, when I first saw it, and it still retains its wonder today. You can say it’s ‘chicken soup’ to cure and renew the senses! Some good things do stay the same, because those sames are the best sames. Thank you.
I was in second grade when I heard this and made me cry like a baby , that was like 50 or 51 years ago: I’m almost 58 and it still gets me a bit teary eyed. To think burgess Meredith did the voice of puff. All I can think of is when he played the penguin in Batman and played Mickey in rocky.
Wow, I had no idea it was Burgess Meredith who did his voice!!!! My first recollection of him was the very last movies before passing. Grumpy old men, and Grumpier old men. I knew he was in a ton of TV shows and movies, but didn't realize this was one of them!!
1. The first step in not to fearing is to see things as they are. 2. The next step in not fearing is to have the courage try --- you may fail, but at least you have made the effort.
As a young girl in 1985, my father told my siblings and I that we we're “going to the movies” and surprised us with our first VHS player which came in 2 pieces, the top part holding the VHS cassette, while the bottom had the controls and clock on it. We were so excited as we watched the “Puff The Magic Dragon” movie on this new piece of technology that made its way into our living room. I will always remember this movie!
This taught me to imagine anything and started a life long love of dragons. When I am at my worst I sing the song and it always makes me feel better. Now I can share it with my kids. this is so awesome.
Destiny Sings showed this show to my 5 yr old! He loved it and wanted a Puff Stuffed animal, closest this I could find is Elliot from Pete’s Dragon @ Disney store. He loves that dragon 😢
What I loved about these movies is the simple yet important messages they have when it comes to growing up. This one is about confronting your fears and self-confidence. Many fairytales have been used to teach life lessons. This one just made an extra effort. 👍👍
Remember watching this as a young boy haha, this was an awesome nostalgia trip. Its a lot deeper then i remember but this film will always be in my heart. Always makes me smile seeing that green dragon.
I was 32 when this came out. I grow up with the song. Kids care less if the sound is off or the writing is not perfect. Too many kids have grown up entirely too fast. Look at this with a youngster by your side and see through their eyes. Cut the umbilical cord to your phones and electronics and go out and play football with family till the bird graces the table and then be thankful you have family no matter how big or small. Love each other and thank our Lord too. Love: If you have someone hold them tight. If you have kids, take time to tossle their hair and sneak in hugs.
Nice, I was 4 or 5 :) My mother took me to see this. I am pretty sure I "got something" from this....it may explain why I have been to many foreign lands and met many people :)
Man, I thought I'd never find this video again. Watched it countless times during the 90s as a child, and it's always been in my memory as a comfort piece. Hearing all these lessons and words of wisdom again from a magical green dragon and little Jackie Paper sure hits hard.
I'm in my mid-20's and I still get emotional when Puff had to leave Jackie. At this rate, I'll be an old fart still getting emotional when Puff has to leave Jackie. Lol!
I was born in the early 80’s and watched as a child. When my son was little i watched this with him. He’s now about to turn 19 and he said it was one of his favorites as a kid. I’m so glad that he loves things that I enjoyed as a child myself. Hopefully he’ll watch this with his children when he has some!
I had lung problems as a child and I would sit in front of our little television hooked up to an air pump watching this over and over again. Thankyou for distracting me and making my world so much more colorful. God bless.
Dude, i used to sit and watch this and do my nebulizer treatments when i was a kid. I remember the sound, the smoke and the taste still, and here we are 20+ years later....
My mom would play this for me whenever I was sad or sick and somehow it always made me better. Just today I was suddenly singing one of the songs to this and asked my friend if she remembered it she did and we ended up watching this and singing along to all the songs. Neither of us remember it being so short and meaningful as it was.
I remember when this was new and broadcast on TV. I was sorta obsessed with it, but it completely disappeared and I've never seen it since, until today.
I loved this as a kid. I suddenly stopped speaking for almost a year, at around age 4. It was due to severe child abuse. My father decided to take us and run away from all family that Had been my only joy or safety. They moved us to the middle of nowhere literally, into this old house in the middle of a forest, no roads in or out. Had to have a 4x4 truck to even get to the house. No one knew where or when we had gone. But since now, no one would see the signs of abuse, things got worse fast. I completely shut down. I Rarely left my room, didn’t play at all anymore. Barely ate, And didn’t speak at all, even when my father would threaten to beat me more if I didn’t say anything. Eventually an aunt found us, and demanded that he stop hiding us or she’d call cops bc of my condition. This same aunt later recorded this off hbo for me to watch. I loved it, it felt amazing to see another kid struggling with some of the same issues.
I grew up watching this in the early 90s haven't watched it in over 20 years and decided to search for it on RUclips to start my 32nd birthday and show it to my partner. I could still sing along to it even after all these years
WOW, don't know how I stumbled on this in 2022 at the age of 57 but glad I did, don't remember the show too much but the theme tune words came back to me instantly :)
Was always one of my favorite songs 54 and I also read the shorter version to the children at school this is the first time I saw this And it’s very interesting very interesting.
Does this take me back to when I was young, I am pushing 60 and still enjoy watching this one. Kids today would not even take a look at this. First time I saw Puff I was I guess I was 10 years old, that is going back almost 50 years.

This has aged so well. I probably saw this for the first time circa 1980 as a 5 year old and I still remember it. What a classic gem that I will show to my son when he's old enough.
I love this when I was a toddler I have memories of my mom making me lunch with pb&j and fruits which she would make pictures of like boats and houses. Me and my 3 siblings would watch this over and over. Thank you for posting this. Haven’t watched this fully in 8 years

wow i actually wrote same comment you did.lol had no idea you did
Cheers bud, I was born in 86 and grew up with this. I recommend the Don Bluth trio Land Before Time, An American Tail, and Secret of NIMH, three kids movies that are better watching as an adult.
@@MagetaTheLionHeart I love those movies! My parents were wise to raise us on the classics, and I certainly need to rewatch them. Another movie I particularly enjoyed was All Dogs Go to Heaven.
Thought it was just me…. My grandma had this “red” van and she had a CD’s with puff the magic dragon… & the muffin man… but this was my stuff and it literally just made me sob
@@MagetaTheLionHeart Don Bluth is truly a legendary animator. It's times like this, I wish we had more of his hand draw 2D animated movies and video games around today.
I am 56 and this was my favorite cartoon. I didn't talk untill I was 5.
As a kid in the 70s & early 80s this came on once a year like lots of shows and I'd look forward to it like crazy. This one, another Puff 'episode' and Rikki Tikki Tavi were huge favorites. So many kids will never see stuff like this anymore.
Yes!
Yeah My 3 yo loves Puff, but kids today have Bluey so… kind of a wash. Lol.
Watership down and the hobbit cartoon

Rikki Tikki, hell yeah. Blast from my past. I'm 38 now, nostalgia overload 😢
I used to watch this all the time in the 80s. I agree with Adam. I thought this was like 90 mins, not 23. Amazing how your perspective is at 4 yrs old.
It's as long as you wish it to be my friend.................
So true!! Definitely felt longer as a child. 85' here.
LOL ITS ONLY 23 MINUTES LONG!!! Thanks for pointing that out. Children's lives are formed by minutes, seconds. That's inspiration to always be gentle with children. You never know what 20 minutes of hell they'll remember.
Yeah me too. When I saw the time of the video I was shocked!
MrDeppness so true

my dad showed me this as a kid. he is an alcoholic and narcissist who abused me my entire childhood. i remember the good parts of my dad and this cartoon brings it all back to me. my dad is creative and intelligent and funny. it hurts to remember the good pieces of my dad while knowing how much pain he’s caused me. i am now no contact with him and although i know it’s for the better it still hurts remembering how much of a wonderful dad he could be. i used to look up to him like god. now i find myself wishing for him to be different. it hurts. watching this hurts. i miss who i thought was my dad all those years ago.

I would watch this as a child. Omg the nostalgia is too real!!
Same omg
@@tiredhellhound5229this is the sweetest thing, may her memory be a blessing ❤
Nostalgia shouldn't matter when you watched, but why instead. I discovered this back in '09 in grade 6, the story and songs were so charming it has been in my head for years. Be happy you watched it now, than never. Years from now, you'll be glad to have come across it

I lo ed him in the twilight zone ❤
1. The first step in not to fearing is to see things as they are.
2. The next step in not fearing is to have the courage try --- you may fail, but at least you have made the effort.
Watching this again in my 40s, and yes I’m crying
As a young girl in 1985, my father told my siblings and I that we we're “going to the movies” and surprised us with our first VHS player which came in 2 pieces, the top part holding the VHS cassette, while the bottom had the controls and clock on it. We were so excited as we watched the “Puff The Magic Dragon” movie on this new piece of technology that made its way into our living room. I will always remember this movie!
This taught me to imagine anything and started a life long love of dragons. When I am at my worst I sing the song and it always makes me feel better. Now I can share it with my kids. this is so awesome.
im a 2000 kid but let me just say cried my eyes out i will be showing this to my kids when im older
Same,I watched this when I was a little baby.
This show reminds me of The Care Bears Movie (1985). Plus, it reminds me of the songs in The Care Bears Movie (1985).
I cry to........... I am that little kid
Destiny Sings showed this show to my 5 yr old! He loved it and wanted a Puff Stuffed animal, closest this I could find is Elliot from Pete’s Dragon @ Disney store. He loves that dragon 😢
I watched it in 1978 when I was 8. Cried. Cried. Cried.
I’m 48 and I still love this movie and cry.
I have the song on my mp3 on repeat.

Just found this video by chance, haven't seen it in 25 years and still remembered a few quotes!
My mom would play this for me whenever I was sad or sick and somehow it always made me better. Just today I was suddenly singing one of the songs to this and asked my friend if she remembered it she did and we ended up watching this and singing along to all the songs. Neither of us remember it being so short and meaningful as it was.
First movie I ever remember watching as a child with my mother. Instant fave and still our fave and I'll be 36 this year and my mom 71
I remember when this was new and broadcast on TV. I was sorta obsessed with it, but it completely disappeared and I've never seen it since, until today.
I grew up listening to the song Puff the Magic Dragon... The nostalgia is too real, thank god I found Peter, Paul and Mary in concert *cries*
Cool hey guy's watch my vids their cool
"Ill never forget you, Puff."
"Well see..."
That part made me cry
