Good to see that you are taking the initiative and putting a stop to the rust and taking your time and doing it right the first time! I’m very fortunate my 3rd gen only has a tiny area of surface rust at the bottom of my trunk which I’m taking care of soon. I got the Amazon special too for my ‘96 Nissan Pathfinder as my driver side window switch was getting wonky.
Thank brotha! It’s definitely a lot of work and I have to force myself to be okay with it taking a long time. But better to be thorough with these kinds of things.
Amazon special for the win! Haha
your prelude and your work are both a thing of beauty legit.
Ayyy big thanks my friend
Just picked up a 1990 for $500 in BC. Runs well. Everything works. Chassis is salvageable , but it will need a lot of work! But I’m excited about a multi-year restoration. It would’ve ended up in The scrap heap. Happy to have saved it. Happy to have subscribed to you 😊
Happy you found us here and congrats on your project Lude! That’s awesome you were able to keep one from turning into gravel! Happy wrenching friend
Take your time and keep up the quality work!
Thanks, will do!
You dont need to take off those little bolts on front bumper either. Just 2 bolts per side behind foglights and or front blinkers.
Thanks for the heads up!
man the rust on these is a pain in the ass. i now have 2 years of prelude rust work behind me but its finally done.
when you have the time, check for rust by the sunroof (mine was on the inside and i only saw it when i removed the interior roof cover) and check under the front plastic cover beneath the windshield wipers (where the interior air filter is)
Definitely already know I have sunroof rust. The whole roof on my prelude is going to have to be sanded down and inspected. Defiantly some around my windshield trim too.
Any tips you gathered from your body work journey?
@@ConnorLee the rust work isnt really any different from other cars, except you cant buy custom shaped metal sheets that already fit the areas of the car. you have to make them yourself.
all i can say is: if you want to adress the rust, make sure you dont leave any spots behind and do it properly. you dont want bad surprises in a few years because you missed a spot today. even try to look on places you wouldnt normally look (like behind plastic trims or interior covers, you saw in your own video it hides everywhere behind those pieces)
Never took the back bumper off because I didn’t know how. Now I can get at that rust.
There are two more similar bolts on either side of the bumper but outside of the trunk. Almost directly below the two bolts I showed in the trunk
@@ConnorLee The plastic ones ?
There's those yes, but I'm talking about two more capped nuts like the two in the trunk. They are on the rear corners of the bumper. you have to lay down and look up behind the bumper to see them. Sorry, hard to explain. @@cavanblack
Let’s go man! Been waiting for the body work on the lude to get underway! Going to be a learning experience but the final results are gonna be well worth the wait!
Maybe this time next year the Lude could make it the Gart!
Hey Connor love your videos, love from Australia 🇦🇺 when you gonna visit down under ❤
Would love to, especially if I could do some wheeling!
@@ConnorLee you should Australian car scene is amazing I have a r32 skyline r34 and a Honda civic drift build with a k24 id you do ever come I’ll be happy 😁
oh yeah and definetly be careful with the trim pieces. 80% of my plastic clips broke and you cant really find these anymore. we tried hard to make them ourselves but the custom ones broke too. if you come across a solution please hmu
That’s really good to know. I’m going to try my best to keep them intact. I’ll keep you posted if I learn any more about them!
I feel like maybe you could 3d print unless you already tried that?
the lips on the wheels there's a product called "speedy metal polish" it is THE BEST sh*t I've used on any polished, chrome, brushed ALL METAL. Highly recommended. I tell everyone to get it and use it and if they don't think its awesome ill buy it from you because you're not using it right 🤣 bottle is 32oz, shake well use a applicator to rub it on and then wipe with a microfiber when it chalks up.
Hahaha I’ll use it until I get right! Thank you massively for the tip. I struggle
Cleaning the edge of the lip right near where the face bolts up. Any tools or ideas for cleaning that section without fully disassembling the wheel?
@@ConnorLee the cleaning part is easy with a soft brush attatchment (similar to a large paint brush) for the drill, you cut the bristles down to about 3/4" then go to town on the bolt section but the clean up is always going to be a struggle getting in all the nooks and cranny's. the speedy metal polish does dry to a chalk so you could go over it with a separate brush on a drill to knock it all off though !
Have you thought about getting another project car also you could make content
I try not to think about it because I do want to get more projects, but with the current state of my driveway I don’t think it would be a good idea. What kind of car would you like to see a build done on?
@@ConnorLee I totally get it honestly I love your content, I’m with you through the journey I’ve been a subscriber since your bmw days ✌️honestly another Honda build a civic ek hatch, Subaru Mazda Toyota 86 anything haha you buy I’ll be happy
Amazing...i dont must lights out u r gr8
Hi, i have a 2gen prelude and i was wondering what kind of front fender and side skirt u have. And if it fits a 2gen?
Fenders are my stock 3g fenders. Side skirts extensions are off of a 96 accord
