    I've been daily driving a 1988 Honda Prelude 2.0Si 4WS since I purchased it in 2002. Over the years, I have done all the repairs and maintenance myself, and sometimes with the help of a friend. Early on in the ownership of my Prelude, the engine broke a rod, but fortunately the damage was not catastrophic.. Performed a rebuild with a used crankshaft and set of New Old Stock connecting rods (fortunate finds), rod and crank bearings, 3 new valves, and all the other parts needed to refresh the engine such as rings, gaskets, seals, timing components and clutch set were installed, along with a very mild port & polish on the cylinder head intake and exhaust runners while waiting for parts. The engine has been extremely reliable with basic maintenance and periodic tune-up over the years. Around 2009, I replaced the aging exhaust with a full stainless 4-2-1 OBX Header, and stainless 2.5" Catback exhaust from Legal Speed Designs (LSD), which has, in my own opinion, the most desirable exhaust note of any catback system available for the Prelude.
    I have often driven newer and more powerful vehicles, which are sometimes fun and certainly faster, but I always find the handling dynamics of the Prelude to be highly satisfying. It is a really enjoyable and rewarding car to own, drive and maintain.

      It's actually a "Limited Lifetime Warranty" on all safety restraints and harnesses, but in the manual it states for the "Useful life of the vehicle" so depending on the condition of the vehicle and the dealership service department's discretion, they may or may not do this service under warranty. I plan on asking my local Honda dealer for this repair on my 1988 Prelude 2.0Si 4WS, but I'm waiting until I repair a couple of body issues before I take it in, to reduce the chance of refusal. My seatbelts will still lock when pulled, but in cold and humid weather, the seatbelts do not like to retract like they should.

    LA! Soon to be moving back to South lake tahoe. I just got my prelude back from the transmission shop and now getting ready to start maintenance on it because it's running really rough. One problem I'm having is the speedometer cable. I have the 2 piece one and for the life of me I can't find the bottom piece that goes to the transmission nor do I even know what it looks like. Im trying to find out if there are any swappable cables from other Hondas.

    Seatbelts only lock on collision. They’re loose like that normally because they’re door mounted belts and you leave them buckled in to exit the vehicle with them still buckled.

    • @josafatgranados4617
      @josafatgranados4617 3 года назад +1

      Either way I’d take them to honda to get them redone and make sure they’re functioning properly and not actually broken broken . Lifetime warranty for seatbelts/any recalls/safety hazards discovered later on in the cars line

    i’m thinking of buying one to daily and i know with 5ths the automatic transmission always fails but is it common in 3rds too? and would it be worth it to buy a manual and learn on it?

    • @ConnorLee
      @ConnorLee  3 года назад

      In my opinion, go manual 100%. If the auto has been maintained I dont see why it wouldnt last a long time too. But manual tranny weighs less, easier to work on, better mpg, and more fun
