man it really hurts watching someone go through the same process i did with this car. its become kind of a running gag in my friend group that you want to fix 1 thing on the prelude and find 3 new broken things in the process. body filler from previous owners is the worst, since there is always rust underneath. just make sure you find everything, there will probably be a lot of surprises but its worth when its all gone. my rust work included a lot of rust holes, so i had to custom shape new metal, cut it out the car and weld the new one in. everytime i cut metal out of the car, there was more rust beneath. i wish you good luck and not as much bad surprises as i had
Ugh this breaks my heart but also a reality I’ve begun preparing myself for. There’s always a bigger fish is what I keep telling myself every time I find some new rust haha. Trying to stay positive with it and realizing it’s not just about the car but the content and the community were creating here. If this prelude doesn’t work out, I’ll find another 💪
As a painter myself and also a 3rd gen owner, I’m always excited to watch your vids and progress! Mines white, but I’ve always loved your shade of blue/grey metallic…if I ever respray it will be similar;) But, that’s after I finish tackling my h22 swap… keep up the great work!
angle grinder with all the misc disks (brush to polycarbide) and finish with a hand sand and spray with rust inhibitor / high build primer. looks great the way youre doing it but for what you have it may take a little longer with same result !
@@ConnorLee POR15 is tried and true. For undercarriage / wheel well that you want to protect but just surface rust i usually hit it with the Duplicolor "Rust Fix" then the good old DE1634/1635 black. That's for the stuff you see along the way that isnt bad but has surface rusting (frame, hangers, arms ect)
It’s a little better! Now that I’m underway, wrapping has been more of a thought. Go the same route, panel by panel. Have you had experience wrapping cars?
@@ConnorLeeyep i’ve tried wrapping my prelude for a first time, found the bonnet was a hard spot to start off with due to the lines curving out at the top which creates a lot of pressure on the wrap but it’s definitely doable it just may take some expertise! cant wait to see how you do it 🤞
It’s a great platform to learn on. I didn’t know anything before I bought mine. I think I could change oil at that point and that was it! You got it bud! Happy wrenching!
As someone who's Prelude started as more holes than body you can do this. Looks awesome
This makes my day haha 🤘🏼
Restoring the car so it lasts forever, doing great work. Im sure it makes alot of people happy to see a 3rd gen getting dolled up again
Man I hope it lasts forever! Got to put some makeup on this old girl 😂🤘🏼
The 3rd gen Honda Prelude content hits different 🔥🔥

Awesome! Do you do auto body paint work?
Stoked dude, gives me the confidence to start on the second gens rust!
It’s a big task but I appreciate that it can be tackled section by section. Is your rust in all the usual spots?
fuel door, end of fenders/start of rockers! hopefully not horrible to fix@@ConnorLee
Keep up the good work mate 🇦🇺
Hell yeah brotha!
I'm excited for this build!!
I’m excited about you being excited

I had a feeling I was underpowered with my tools. Any rust inhibitors you recommend? I used POR15 on the trunk but that’s my not experience with it

have you decided if you’re going wrap or paint yet? looks heaps better without the rust and the wheels back on

idk man, this car is more than history. Insane.
Get as much rust off and get ospho to seal it up and then prime it
Had to look that stuff up. Thank you for the tip
Please please tell me the rim and tyre size u put on this prelude it’s perfect
i really want to pick up a prelude project but scared to put all my eggs in 1 basket when im an amateur in car knowledge
