The Elbe is one of the major rivers of Central Europe. It rises in the Giant Mountains of the northern Czech Republic before traversing much of Bohemia, then Germany and flowing into the North Sea at Cuxhaven, 110 kilometres northwest of Hamburg. Its total length is 1,094 km.
Geographically, the river can be divided into different sections: The Upper Elbe is the part from the source to about Riesa in the administrative district of Dresden, which is more characterized by mountains. The Middle Elbe, on the other hand, is a lowland river. It reaches as far as the Geesthacht dam just outside Hamburg.
The Lower Elbe is called the tidal part of the river. Here, the Elbe forms an estuary, a so-called estuary. At high tide, seawater enters this funnel-shaped delta at the mouth of the Elbe and mixes with the freshwater of the river. At low tide, the water then flows off to the North Sea. Finally, the continuation of the estuary funnel in the Wadden Sea is called the Outer Elbe.

I really appreciate these European nature documentaries. Before seeing them I never thought of Europe as having that much remaining nature, let alone the diversity.

WoW I think of Europe as being full of nature. I’ve only been there when I was a kid but as an adult I’m impressed by the rich, thick, dewy greenery.

38.33. You mentioned a stork. The stork bird has no vocal cords, so it sounds by striking the upper beak against the lower beak. When a male marries a female they stay together forever, if the male stork dies the female will not look for a long male or if the female dies the male will not look for another female.

Europe is such a beautiful place to see, but their wildlife is very sparse compared to that of the US. Some countries like Finland and Sweden have pretty good wildlife management programs there, but most don't. We are very lucky here to have the North American Model of wildlife conservation here.

@@sandrabentley8111 depends on the river. A lot of our rivers in the states are basically industrial sludge and a lot are quite clean and in good shape just matters on what state ur in and how important environmental protection is to their local politics
