    It’s a nation of over 7,000 islands, forming one of the most ancient archipelagos in the world, where both the wildlife and the people have had to adapt to survive. The Philippines 🇵🇭

    I've lived in the Philippines 🇵🇭 for 15 years. I've travelled thousands of kilometres by bicycle, foot, boat, and local transport. I spent a month in the jungles in Palawan with the Batok and cave dwellers. Also, many other places. Aetas in Luzon and still exploring. Amazing country and people ❤️

    I'm Aussie, married to Higaonon baylan from Northern Mindanao. I've lived here for most of the last seven years. There are so many wonderful places and people here in the Philippines. I haven't been to Palawan or Bohol. However, apart from Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon provinces here in Northern Mindanao, I've spent time in Laguna in Luzon, and Cebu. Palawan is very well named. I understand that "Palaw" in Old Malay means "forested mountain ridge", and the suffix "-an" means "place". That's a perfect description of the geography of Palawan. I've also visited Camiguin Island, just to the north of Mindanao. It's an amazing place with two large active volcanoes, Hibok-Hibok and Vulcan, five other volcanic vents, hot and cold springs, and as far as I am aware the only sunken cemetery in the world. The old capital of Camiguin, Catarman, was destroyed by the eruption of Hibok-Hibok in the 1870's, which led to the creation of Vulcan. Catarman was rebuilt in another location. Here in Mindanao we have "alamid", the palm civet, that will eat coffee beans and excrete them, for that really expensive coffee. There are also mangroves, which in Cebuano are called "bakhawan". Crab is "alimango", and butterfly is "alindanaw".

      It's not malay it's an Austronesian word means island came from palau, pulo in Tagalog, pulau in Malay cause, it changes to w cause Tagalog don't use u as ending syllable. Palawan has many islands surrounding it.

      butterfly is different from alindanaw😂😂
      butterfly= paroparo in tagalog
      in visayas kaba kaba😂
      dragonfly= tutubi in tagalog
      in visayas alindanaw but don't worry sooner you learned it😂😂😂 take care and be safe

    The unique scent of Palawan binturong, also known as the bearcat, is often described as smelling like popcorn. This distinctive odor is due to the presence of a chemical compound called 2-Acetyl-1-pyrroline, which is also found in popcorn. The binturong's scent is often compared to the smell of freshly popped popcorn, particularly when they rub their fur against trees, releasing this characteristic aroma. This unusual smell has been the subject of scientific study, and it's believed to play a role in the binturong's behavior and communication with other binturongs.
