Honestly thanks dude I haven't been fishing in like 15 years n came back forgetting 95% of everything. I was wondering why my casts were absolute dogs hit, now they are flying
I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well ruclips.net/user/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.
For all Magsealed Daiwa reels DONT OIL THE MAIN SHAFT this will actually make it function worse. The Magseal needs a special Ferrofluid to be applied or you can damage the reel. On the higher end Certate and Exists which looks like you have they also have Magsealed ball bearings which in applying regular oil will destroy them.
Regular oil will not destroy the Magsealed bearings, but reduce the sealing. I use the original "magnetic oil" at the Magsealed spots. Expensive, but very little needed and definitely worth it.
You have to put oil in it. Search preventative spinning reel maintenance and all of them suggested putting oil on line rollers. I have been doing it for more than 2 decades and it helps a lot.
Awesome Video great stuff. I use oil on main gear as well very smooth. The old Hardy altec has two oil ports for the gears which I found interesting with everybody using grease these days. Do you think this is a good idea.
Would the non magnetic oil affect the magseal on the Daiwa Certate? I know a friend of mine have the Daiwa Saltist and he had problem contaminating his Magseal when he oiled the mainshaft
Good, practical advice except I don't think oil placed on the line roller will ever make it out to either side of it. I think you need to loosen the screw and put oil directly on either side. Also, on my reels, the first thing to rust is the coil spring on the back side of the spool. I always put a drop of oil on that.
Hi there i currently have the Lucas Reel Oil is it good enough or should I buy a bottle of Shimano Bantam Oil B-100 (if i can find them in stock somewhere) for my Vanquish 2024 For grease what do you recommend? I currently have the blue grease from Penn is it good enough or should i go for Shimano ACE-0 (DG01)? I saw that Shimano is selling Shimano Grease DG18 as a special grease/oil for the Line Roller is it a must or Lucas/Bantam good enough? Thank you
Do you do maintenance on your lures and hooks, such as retuning a lure a fish may have bent a lip or a spinner arm during the catch. Do you sharpen your hooks on said baits after a hard days fishing. Do you maintain bait bucket motors or show how to do it?
How about for an Sahara 4000fd (old model) that hasnt been used since 2015 and was only fished twice. Does it need all this from just sitting around? Also, what about the lube port on the side. Whats that for?
the daiwa certate is a mag sealed reel...you shouldn't oil the roller bearing like that....it can damage the mag seal and increase the risk of water intrusion....you should really just send the reel to daiwa after every season
Grease is different to oil and they're NOT the same.. grease is thicker and stickier providing lubrication of moving parts under load. Adding oil with grease will reduce the viscosity.. and if they're not compatible (synthetic/mineral) the internal parts will wear out quicker *The main shaft goes down to the drive shaft which has grease and not oil.. therefore the main shaft should only be greased*
I have never oiled a reel before today, thank you for showing me how to do it!
Honestly thanks dude

Glad you make these videos. Ppl think you buy a reel and no maintenance needed. 😅👌🏼
Thanks! Appreciate the instruction! Have learned that salt water corrodes everything except salt water! Lol😊
Right on time! I need to do this asap and thank you for this post.
Thanks brother! Good looking out!
Thank you…..how often do you do this?
You realize the line roller and AR are magsealed on the Certate right?
Yeah , certate LT & sw series have magsealed on the line roller. So that oil doesn't make it inside 😂
It will make it I think, by breaking the Magseal xP@@Nemotori
Good description without a lot of extraneous talking. 👍
Gotta love the rotational revolutional spins lol
Thanks for posting i was confused on why my reel was squeaking and it was driving me crazy

@@DrJanLindbergWhere do you buy it? Can’t seem to find the original Daiwa ferrofluid oil anywhere.
Thanks for posting, great info.
I just got a shimano nasci 4000 i definitely needed to learn this to keep my reel is good cond so i appreciate it dude. Fish Awn!
Doesn't the certate lt have magseal..?
The Zebco Spyn is the best spinning reel made PERIOD!
Is grease not recommended on the shaft? Or grease is fine too
I think it’s good
I put grease on the part that is inside the reel and oil on the part you can see and the threads at the front.
Correct me if I’m wrong. I heard ppl say you’re not suppose to put any oil on the roller? Please let me know.
You have to put oil in it. Search preventative spinning reel maintenance and all of them suggested putting oil on line rollers. I have been doing it for more than 2 decades and it helps a lot.
@@freddiegonz4113 great! Thank you
Putting oil on the roller is like putting water in a valley and expecting it to make it over the hills on either side.
Would you say lubing the shaft is the most important part if we are trying to make sure our hands smell like fish at the end of the day?
I've been thinking about how to do just this thing!
Great video helped me a lot thank!!!!!!!!!
Nicely put!

I own a battle 3 and it has locked up? Can that be fixed?
Would the non magnetic oil affect the magseal on the Daiwa Certate?
I know a friend of mine have the Daiwa Saltist and he had problem contaminating his Magseal when he oiled the mainshaft
is known not to put oil on the mainshaft, a tiny bit of grease would be better

How often should i be oiling my reel?
thank you for being smart
Thank you
thanks for the info on how to insert oil into the reel ... the reel looks good ... can I know what brand reel is
Varivas Avini Casting reel
Which is better between certate lt and twinpower 2020/twinpower xd 2021?
Thank you👍
What model is that reel ?
Can I use W-40 instead of the oil?
No it’s a degreaser you can use it to clean the outer parts but don’t get it on the shaft. Use only a minimal amount on a paper towel
@@greasyrails2571 thank you 😊
@@TheHema5sadek Walmart Carry’s oil and grease for reels use small amounts
@@greasyrails2571 can you please name a oil you recommend.
You has to use a special oil to oil the reel? If so plz tell me the name?
Any oil marketed as "reel oil".
Good stuff!
What type oil
You can put new oil with out taking old oils out. 🤔 just wondering I've been calling it out every time. I cud of saved time.

Personally I’d stick with Shimano branded lubricants for Shimano reels.
@@RXAngler I see thank you will wait for stock to be back to buy em :)
Hopefully the reel wont be too dry when i receive it from digitaka
Paraffin oil or what kind ??

What if your daiwa is magsealed? Can you still perform this?
thanks for sharing master.
Will 3 in 1 work?
Not ideal. Better than nothing.
Is penn oil good quality?
Should be fine
@@RXAngler what about Ballistol? It’s basically mineral oil which seems similar to what Shimano uses

Great stuff! I just did a similar video on spinning reel maintenance! Just subscribed!!!
What spinning reel is this?
Never mind, saw the Daiwa logo already.. certate lt it is
Good info.
My reel is getting noisy. Im gonna try this. 😃
This is an excellent tutorial. Does the grease inside the reel need changing, refreshing, etc?
Once a year is sufficient . Twice if you fish a lot

Thanks for adding an explanation instead of just saying not to use oil. It makes sense.
I doubt one drop would make it down.
Are you able to use WD-40 in the same way?
No. It’s not oil
that bail is thicc.
Oil??? I thought you just spray WD40 on it hahaha. Just kidding brother. Thanks for the video.
