I rode 2 858's at the end of March in Gimli Mb. The first one was a Riot 858. The first and most noticeable thing was the engine vibration in the handlebars and the vibration at you feet. The Riot rode like a buckboard, it really kicked back on the bumps and it wouldn't turn at all. I know this possibly the setup. Also the gauge was a little square type probably off the atv line and it was terrible, could hardly see the display at 60 kph. I then jumped on a ZR 129 and it rode way better then the Riot and it would turn and handle great. The handlebar and foot vibration was same as the Riot. It had the new display and it looked and worked great. The vibration was concerning because after we got off you feet had a tingle from the vibration. I was not the only person on the test drive that commented on the engine vibration. The 858 pulled hard as it should. On a note there was 6 of us on the test drive and I was fifth, you could really smell raw unburnt fuel smell being in the rear. Possibly more mapping to be done on calibration.
Up to 60 mph, there is very little performance difference between a 600 class and an 800/850 class machine. North of 60 is where the bigger motors shine.
The slide action suspension is made to keep skies on the snow. Its not that it doesn’t transfer its an excellent suspension because it keeps the skies in the snow. I races cats in the north east 17 years. Pro XC and SX many wins and championships. SX i almost always got the hole shot racing with the slide action suspension so it definitely transfer’s weight.
Off the line they are very similar. Yes my 850 will pull it over all but for average trail riding it's pretty hard to tell the difference. Even I was surprised. Cheers, Jesse
@@sledaddicz then the person on the 850 has a lazy throttle take off. You start from a dead stop and the 850 should be pulling the 600 in less than 50 ft. There is no comparison in the torque the 850 has vs the 600 cat.

Nice sled
Stunning
My first sled was a 1974 Harley Davidson 398! My last new sled was a 2 stroke Ski Doo MXZ-670
How far sleds have come!
Great review!!
I had no idea Harley Davidson made a snowmobile…that is so awesome thanks for the education. Enjoy your Sleds!

That's good to hear, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
It has around 132 hp great for a 600cc machine
It's hard to believe it's only a 600cc!
My 600 ctec is no where close to my 850 power wise.
Oh forsure! All we are saying is that in average trail riding this 600 is pretty impressive!
This guy talks a littttttle high pitched 😂😂😂😂
There must be something wrong with your 850 if you lost a race against a 600.
He didn’t lose to the 600 and there is no way it would lose. The Polaris 650 will walk the 600 catalyst and the 850 Doo will easily beat both
I think he's just trying to communicate that the 600 is quick for moderate speed trail riding.
