Ah the spring ice recoveries. At least it wasn't a full sized truck. I remember hearing stories of commercial fisherman building their own airboats for Lake Superior with no cages around the props. Great how far they have come forward.
Good morning i will definitely check out his channel. Doing ice recoveries would be sketchy knowing all that separates u from cold water is a thin layer of ice
That was a great recovery. I like that recovery barge that he he built. That would be handy down here in Florida, just to recover the boat motors people forget to tighten down before they send it. It happens more than you might think.😅
Dang Eric you must have been freezing 🥶 out there on the lake ,no beanie or hood lol with that wind blowing wow. Thanks for the video guy's and stay safe.
Having gone through the ice once not to sure at all if id have even stepped foot off the airboat or the barge, great job getting a dang sketchy recovery done
I was thinking the same thing. Having dealt with lake ice in N. Ontario, it can be very dangerous when it is as thin as this was. I wouldn't even be standing close to anyone else. At the very least, carry a long pole or two. Very essential to help yourself out if you go through.
I just found out about Wyatt's channel the other day and that green truck on tracks is a beast I like the way he has the wheel lift turned around and using it as a spade to keep it from pulling it back
With the amount of wind noise that was coming in through the video and being out on the ice it sounded like it might have been a bit cold on this recovery.
I think the pontoons need to be a bit wider, longer and have steeper sloped ends. I like what he said: "It's A WAY to do it". His winchpoint could be higher as well. But, if this is his first incarnation of an Ice Recovery Rig, it worked!
I think it’s as big as it needs to be. It just fits on his roll off. Gotta remember the limitations of size and weight when working on ice and how it’s being propelled by airboat. Too heavy and it easily breaks through making it hard or impossible to drag. They had to remove passengers from the airboat so it could operate effectively. Also only likely picking out atvs and snowmobiles that go through ice.
I had an acquaintance who did ice/cold water, and deep water recovery. He was a certified ice/ cold water diver and had thousands of dollars in his equipment. He recovered snowmobiles, cars, trucks, and once a seaplane. He worked out of Burlington, VT. That means Lake Champlain. The 6th largest lake in the US. It is bordered by Vermont, New York, and Canada.
The outro with all his specialized track vehicles was interesting. The beginning of the video would have benefitted from some more introduction of the equipment used, players involved, and backstory of what happened as well as how they approach the recovery. It’s about building a compelling story. The many long distance shots across the ice with the wind blowing in the mic was hard to watch.
NO way would I have gone on the ice, or water, on that without 55 gallon drums slit into pontoons on the 4 corners. It just looked so unstable, especially when trying to lift.Yikes. He has a nice collection of tracked vehicles too. The last 1,in the garage, looks like the Grind Hard Plumbing's new vehicle. I think it now has a huge snowmobile engine.Shhh.
From 5:30 to 19:00, change to 2x speed; won't miss narration or any action. The narrator has a good voice for that speed, too; he doesn't talk too fast.
What a great young man great video guys don’t listen to all the cons from people out there half of them can’t even get off the couch Stay safe stay off that damn thin ice 😝
Kool recovery, how deep was the water there? Years ago we had recovered a few snowmobiles, grapple hooks aren't the greatest, lol. Kinda tears up the seat & drops back to the bottom, lol. But a couple of guys liked to ice dive with dry suits, ice was thick enough to set up a tripod & hoist them up. Or wait till spring, & take the pontoon, lol!
As a Scuba Diver that would be a P.T.A but simple to do. Take longer getting ready that quick dive to hook up. I'm not sure if I'd like getting back in that cold of water anymore though. Diving in Austria's Alpine lakes was cold enough in my late 20s. The expenses for a drysuit isn't something I want to buy again.
dude DON"T hang your legs off the front of a boat ever. when the speed drops (boat on water) or the ice up front breaks thru (boat on ice) nose will drop ... you then get your feet to knees dipped into the water..... if driver does not catch it and speeds up..... your gone..... you will get pulled under the boat....... been there..... dunked that.
Don't care much for this one. I know it was a test to see if it could work but to me it did a lot of damage to the ice and hope no ice fisherman finds where the weakened the ice
Hey Eric,
That had to be a top contender for the weirdest recovers ever made.
Thanks for posting the video.
Take Care
You bet

Eric, you need to get the guys from Utah to try this recovery 😂 Great job 👏
I was hoping to see something with the both of you guys doing something together.
That's a lot of specialized equipment, I'm guessing this happens more than I thought it did.
Wyatt is a very smart young man. Great future
Good morning i will definitely check out his channel. Doing ice recoveries would be sketchy knowing all that separates u from cold water is a thin layer of ice
Was you able to find his channel? I kept getting a Wyatt towing in Colorado that seem to stay in trouble in the news.
@@mrfunnylookinhayes9088 lol 😂
Search for Wyatt Hooper

Now that is dedication, building a fleet of off road recovery tracked units.
Dang Eric you must have been freezing 🥶 out there on the lake ,no beanie or hood lol with that wind blowing wow. Thanks for the video guy's and stay safe.
Impressive catch, is there a limit on how many you are allowed to catch?
Whoa!! Ufta! No way I would be on the ice this year..... bad year for ice....
Thanks for bringing us along the adventure and introducing us to Wyatt.
Good job .polaris (pull out of lake and repair in spring) glad nobody was hurt.
airboat seems to be having fun pulling everything
Ice recovery looks dangerous! Everyone needs life preservers!
Having gone through the ice once not to sure at all if id have even stepped foot off the airboat or the barge, great job getting a dang sketchy recovery done

Abby should be in more videos she really is a good helper. Maybe throw her a few YT bucks.
Stick to the terra firma recoveries Eric - a bit safer I think. Impressive though and dangerous!
Great recovery, excellent way, looked like fun, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Just found this guy Wyatt, really happy to see BSF knows him too
great video that ice recovery stuff is a tricky business
Every walleye comes with a atv?? I gotta git me one!.
Great video. I liked all the snow track vehicles at the end. I would like to see the small one in the shop out on the snow ❄️
That is what Matt is running to be running on his big wracker
I am shivering cold just watching and hearing the howling wind.....
G'day guys 😊
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
That was a little crazy boys.
I just found out about Wyatt's channel the other day and that green truck on tracks is a beast I like the way he has the wheel lift turned around and using it as a spade to keep it from pulling it back
Can you send me a link please?

a little bit cold
Eric ware a life jacket
First... "Wind Sock" for your microphone...
Second... Very kool frozen lake recovery video!!! 😀👍

Really good content. I'd probably end up getting rescued myself. Stay safe.

Like in Ghostbusters.... successful test gentleman 👽🗿👽🗿👽
I watched Wyattes you tube video. He needs to show more time of the actual rescue and less time talking about himself
From 5:30 to 19:00, change to 2x speed; won't miss narration or any action. The narrator has a good voice for that speed, too; he doesn't talk too fast.
went to watch someone elses recovery? wow all about commodification and clickbait
keep the clips coming
They need to put polymer sheeting on the bottom of the airboat as well as the recovery boat, thats what time use to run dry here in Florida.
U could not pay me to stand there and watch that, with the ice already breaking. But hey when in Rome…
As opposed to a thawed ice recovery 🤔?
This early in the season, you can’t guarantee ice out will be in 30 days and it gets fined per day after 30 days.
Ingenious idea.❤
Id love my name on that jeep. But I'm homeless and poor. But keep up the good work!
This comment is to help you beat that darned algorithm.
I would think smart men would wear life jackets on that unsafe ice.
Smart men never get out on the ice. Adventurous men do.
What a great young man great video guys don’t listen to all the cons from people out there half of them can’t even get off the couch
Stay safe stay off that damn thin ice
😝
u would not catch me walking on ice like that looks thin and i see alot of open water
No way in hell I would go out on a frozen lake like that.....
Wind noise is so distracting cant watch the rest!
I'd say the wind was cold on the lake.
I'd feel better if they wore PFD's
Headphones riding shotgun.
Liked that one very different recovery
I don't even wanna know what that would cost
How deep of wate are they working in?
It's not ice unless it's frozen. 😎
I hope everybody was okay
down here in Texas, this is blowing my mind. boat is breaking through ice, but you are walking on the ice.
3 months out of year us northerners can walk on water. 😂😂
He has some nice stuff...
Thanks for sharing 😀👍
Cool Snow Cat ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Minnesota don't cha know...
Now that's a different recovery and it was executed perfectly. This guy has some really cool machines.
Wow. Those ice recoveries are just super crazy. Great job BSF. KEEP IT UP.
Wow thats cool
Cool video Eric, Thanks for sharing. Wyatt has some nice toys to play with.
Great video
Nice recovery 👍
Thanks 👍

Thought about buying an air boat for river fishing here in mn, seems there are plenty of uses for one. Offroad truck first though.
Nice
I would NEVER take an ATV on to the ice. I do not care how thick it is supposed to be.
I’ve been hearing about how bad the ice is up there this year. Great recovery, but with that ice a hard pass for me😊
I'm seeing a snow Sat winter games being created here, great video thumbs up
❤🎉🎉🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
Ice recoveries like that are sketchy at best. Ice is so unpredictable.
I grew up on the range, sure don't remember winters like that.
I think you need one of those BABY Bombys.
How thick is the ice? 3”
4" but like Swiss cheese
Wyatt has a monster of a tracked wrecker
I couldn't find Wyattstowing RUclips page
youtube.com/@wyattstowing247?si=rUAHW7nLvmsT6ttG
I bet you froze in that wind
Try some Bondi magnets
It's the first time I see a air boat on ice .
I that the guy with the Big Bombi?
Good morning BSF
Cool recovery
❤ the channel
How deep is the water? How thin is the ice?
About 20' and 4 inches of poor ice, it was sketchy!
🥶🥶
How About The Person That was Ridding It R They OK 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Good way to unalive oneself......
