The best thing about replaying the game is that even then, the game remembers your actions. Meaning, sans will get cheeky once you go to him again and will flat out tell you “we’ve had this conversation before, and while you did spare everyone now, you didn’t before” and I love that the game calls you out for abusing its system.
My first time playing I accidentally killed Toriel cuz I thought it was a “show me your strength” deal where she’d stop the fight if she got too low. She did not. I restarted immediately and the characters called me out on it and it freaked me out so much I didn’t gone back for a year. I STILL haven’t beaten it.
I agree with Karl, my favourite song in the game is also Battle Against a True Hero, the title goes so hard and I love the opening piano.
i think mines a fallen king, that said i love them all and Battle Against a true Hero is amazing!

I'm glad that I played Undertale right before it became a "Big Thing", means I avoided a lot of what would follow. Undyne is 100% the best character, without question.

In contrast to the undertale community there’s the Other Wilds community who love the game so much they REFUSE to spoil it, and if someone puts a spoiler in chat while someone’s playing, the other fans spam the spoiler away so the streamer won’t see it
would love to see some wiki weekends on another toby fox thing like HOMESTUCK. but if none of the hosts know anything about it it might not be that fun. you both mentioned that in the warhammer episode i think. which is totally understandable.

Even if you don't do another video on a specific character, just delving into the different variations of the game is fun to learn about. Every time you start a new game it spins a wheel behind the scenes that chooses whether or not some events even happen in the first place
I feel lucky that I played Undertale blind. I'll never forget that cool creepy moment when Flowey called me out on my actions. It's a simple, but magical moment.
And 100% on fans spoiling things. It's so easy to piece their "vague" spoilers. I don't like how Spoilers become memes too. They try (I think) to be subtle, but you can piece everything right away.

She has some of the coolest music themes in the game, and that means a LOT coming from a game with such an amazing ost
Can't believe this bit of trivia isn't on the wiki, but Undyne is directly based on two characters from Homestuck, acting as a fusion of them.
Those being the trolls Vriska and Meenah, who were also a lesbian couple at one point.
Vriska is a hotheaded narcissistic ball of ego, and during her initial first arc is missing her _left_ arm and eye, with them being replaced with cyborg replacements, so her left eye has this metal eyepatch essentially. She also wears red shoes in all appearances, and has cerulean blue blood, a color always associated with her. Her main weapon is a blue magic dice set with a variety of potential effects, which works great for her since she has the power to steal luck from others, enabling her to manipulate the results she gets from the dice.
Meenah has fuchsia blood, is part of the troll caste that is amphibious, sporting gills and face fins, and uses a trident as her main weapon. She also has a large ego, and has a "stab first" approach to anyone she meets.
So Undyne's weapon, her spear, is essentially Meenah's weapon combined with Vriska's color.

This makes me want to pick up streaming just so I can stream Undertale. Just so I can play poorly to mess with anyone who's joined.

Like getting the donut at the start. Saving it until where it's needed. Then eating it to early. Or making sure to kill monsters at random and, unfortunately, killing papyrus to mess with people as basically everyone, myself included, loves him.
The sans impersonation is so perfect.
I'd say the biggest problem is that people are nowhere near as clever as they think they are. "Oh, I'm being so obscure with my incredibly obvious reference that no one will possibly mind how supremely basic I am".
I really appreciate undertale for being such a big part of my childhood since it helped introduce and normalise concepts of LGBT people. I grew up in a small country town so nobody really taught me about those things, so I appreciate Toby fox for introducing it to an entire generation since without this game I probably wouldn’t have been accomodating towards those people in high school
makes me think of the metro games. like in Metro Last Light you encounter an enemy called a demon on a roof and they are these beefy flying monsters and after I kill it a character says why did you kill her she was just protecting her baby. and there is a nest with a baby monster in it.
it is actually a common theme in the metro games that violence isn't always the answer.
The only way to play undertale is blind and however tf you want 😂
Blind as in its a better experience if you dont know it but beyond that, its up to the player. I love this game but hate the community around it that smothers people with the "good" route.

Undyne is by far my favorite character in undertale. Anime is fuckin real. Her genocide run fight is also my favorite fight. All of the music associated with her goes so hard, especially "battle against a true hero". Its hard to have a perfect character for a setting, but undyne is one of the few.

I absolutely loved the Undertale game, and Delta rune so far. I didn't have the heart myself to do the neutral or genocide run so once I did the good ending(s) I put it down.
Fans, especially of react content, have basically no restraint. It's not just Undertale playthroughs, it's anyone engaging with popular media publicly.
I think it's kinda funny you guys are talking Undertale at a time when the Undertale Fangame, Undertale Yellow, is gaining so much popularity at the moment.
that said, Yeah, I think Undyne might actually be the best character in the game.
Inscryption honestly made me mad. My first run I had a great deck and I wiped the fisherman in like two rounds and they cheated to guarantee my death. I understand that you're supposed to die a couple times to beat it but they just made it so blatant it pissed me off.

Fun fact: every superboss in Deltarune has Toby voice them. There is a 1/whatever chance that when you slide over A in the GIASFELFEBREHBER puzzle that it will replace the "A" soundbyte with sans' voice clip; providing confirmation that Sans is fully voice acted, but is so lazy he just says "A" over and over again.

IMO the moral of the game is flawed in that the game knows it's a game yet still does nothing to dissuade you from playing the game as 99.999% of games are meant to be played. The method of teaching of the lesson goes against the lesson itself.
But the game does dissuade you. On your first playthrough, even if you known nothing and have seen no trailer or nothing, Toriel is there to serve you as a tutorial and explains you how you should engage. Not following her teaching is your choice 100% of the times, and the mercy option is always there for the entire game, expect Asgore's fight.
And even if you ignore every single thing, Sans is there to tell you that you didn't have to kill anyone and to chew you for doing it. If you don't kill flowey after the Omega Flowey fight, he tells you to try and not kill anyone next time.
So yeah, the game rather directly tells you how it would want to be played, but overall the player has both choice and control. Killing stuff is a choice first and foremost. A perfectly fine one of course, but a choice nonetheless. Even the Genocide is meta-narratively a deconstruction as Karl said of the classic RPG. You are literally breaking the game apart by going in the opposite direction of how it would have wanted to be played (it's super easy in almost its entirety, extremely grindy and boring, has no meaningful dialogue or lore or anything, and the only new information you get is Flowey opening up to what it considers its sibling), and the First Human is there at the end signaling as the consequence of your actions, breaking the game one final, this time definitive, way.
You can't really get more on the nose than this
The fact that you have an option makes it so this conversation can be had in the first place. A choice need to be there, otherwise how can you have mercy be an important point if you actively can't kill anyone? It needs to be a game that can be played like 99.999% other games. It plays off of that fact in the first place
