Don't care what color a singers skin, don't give a damn where they come from ... this man is one of the best blues voices of all time - from his heart, the depths of his soul - I was blessed to have walked the blues

A MEN
Check out Chris Stapleton's version of "Whipping Post". It's here on RUclips. Reminds me a lot of Gregg's version from "Live at the Filmore"
Horse shit!

Gregg RIP as we will all keep hearing you and singing your songs. Your music and song kept me living strong. You are truly missed by us all.
all the losses this man suffered over the years and still managed to keep it together and keep forging ahead is just amazing LEGENDARY !!!!!
Lucky me being a teenager listening to Duane & Gregg @ the wreck bar before the Allman Brothers. U just had to be there. Thx brothers, miss u
I was 🎸
I was there the day took that photo at Wormsloe. It was after hours, the gate was closed, and he was not supposed to be in there. I stopped an old white limousine, the kind with the old boomerang antenna on the trunk. The driver got out and asked if they could take a quick photo of Mr. Allman on the oak alley. Of course it turned out to be a photo shoot, and I was not surprised some months later when I saw it on the album cover.
❤ Greg had such a soulful voice and I just love listening to him sing❤😢 RIP Greg
So much talent and such a troubled soul. Greatly missed
So Glad i got to see him with the Allman Bros.I wish i would have seen Duane but it was a great show.
Such an amazing talent...RIP Gregg we miss and love you!
one of the greatest to ever do it! soooo much great music this man gave us and all i can do is say Thank You.
Cheers RIP Brother
Like Gregg Allman said you either learn to roll with it or you get rolled underneath it
Had the pleasure of meeting the man a few times, well into his sobriety.. while in good spirits seemingly, Ray Charles could’ve seen the pain in this dude’s eyes.. (no offense, Ray. Love you bro).
Even yrs if sobriety/clarity under his belt, it was always right there.. to draw inspiration if need be. he’s happy now- he’s with mom, dad & you know who.. also countless friends gone too soon.
Give Gregg Allman tour 1974 live album a listen: dreams, don’t mess up a good thing.. both gems. SO UNDERRATED HIS/THEIR ENTIRE CAREER. OK so for maybe 5-6 weeks in 1971 they were given proper respect. Duane got a small taste- then gone. I’m not a fan of brothers and sisters so I think 1973‘s chart topping success was people catching on to the earlier work now that Duane was gone. There’s good stuff on the 73 album- come & go blues, wasted words.. sh*t even Pony Boy is cool. But it’s no Idlewild south. It certainly ain’t eat a peach- I won’t mention the other it’s not even worth it.
What do y’all think of live at the Fillmore West?
I totally agree about the eyes. I worked at Capricorn Studio in the earlier days. The guys would ask Gregg how he was doing. If he was alright. Gregg would say yeH I'm doing alright, man.
But his eyes, I would look him in the eyes, and he was not alright. I'm glad you noticed the same. He could not fool me, his eyes said it all. Over the years I spoke with him and noticed the sadness 25+ years. I think he finally faced it head on when he quit the drugs and the drinking. He slayed a few demons those last few years. I couldn't have been more proud and neither could his brother.
The hairs on my arms and back of my neck stood on end . While he was singing Melissa I felt a strong and proud presence.
Happy Going Back Home, Gregg. You are in my heart ❤ forever.
So much soul in that voice, miss him dearly. 🎵🎼🎶
I agree..that voice will never be replaced by anyone..
Miss you, Gregg.
Had the privilege of seeing and hearing him in 2009, always been in love with this guy him and my late husband could have passed for twins
He was my crush my whole lifetime. I saw him every time he came to town. Funny, my first boyfriend resembled him too. ❤
This CAT was so inspirational. Saw and heard Him " many " times. In 74 with cowboy from Marin!!!!! Miss him ........
70's were the bomb
Yep got that right??? Wish we could turn back time....
Yes what I remember of it
He was a beautiful man. So talented.
The Allman Brothers are like eating six almonds a day to prevent cancer! It's a roll of the dice but it's worth it!
Greg made being Southern look really good.
Amen
Miss Greg, glad I had a chance to see him solo and with the Brothers!
Yea, he’s Right, you can’t lose what you never had. Gregg, my lifetime crush. 💋
Gregg is an American treasure. Miss him alot !
1 of a kind....r.i.p. Gregg
I was just 17 in high school when The Allman Brothers came to Jersey. High school buddies and me stoned out of our minds! " I was absolutely posive after that concert that we'd had just seen " the greatest live band ever " ! I'm 65 now and I can remember that like it was yesterday. Duane passed in October 1971, Duanes last words to Greg just a day ve4 his death was, " I love ya". Duanes words , death and passing haunted Greg for the rest of his life one of the reasons was that he hadn't told his big brother Duane that he loved him ! Greg's gone home now and he can tell his big brother Duane that he loves him all he wants now! Greg Allman was Jackson Browne, Muddy Waters, Country music, and Rhthym and Blues all rolled up into one. In his prime the year 1971 " No One Did It Better Than Greg Allman! Greg , Duane y'all take it easy now , may the sun shine on your faces in the presence of the Lord Amen!
A MEN
Very well stated. ❤
Ah the great southern rock. Just love it none better the man Greg Alman
Love that blues sound it's a story in song for southern people
His hair was prettier than most girls hair. Not every man can pull that off having long hair but, Gregg Allman could. Love the song and this photo.

The Spiritual Nature of Hair and the Truth About Hair and Why ...
@@soldtobediers, I have enough hair for probably 5 or 6 people. It's so thick and I have nature cury/ wavy hair. I can straighten it, but it takes me about 45 minutes to straighten it. That's not counting the blow drying it completely straight. I'm exhausted by the time I get through fixing it. Haha...!! 😳 😜 🤪 😉 😊
No that can't be true,,, because I'm sitting here looking at you, and your hair is most certainly the prettiest hair of all land Mammal's that walk the earth....

What more can you say Gregg Allman was a genius at the blues 💙...... Southern style music 🎶🎶 it wasn't about his pretty hair!!!!!
Photo looks like from the Low Country Blues LP. Like that line up of the Allmans. Really I like them all!!!
Whatcha never done had!
In one of the Allman documentaries, after the crash I think it's called his people talk about Gregg hopefully not going to jail, because he wouldn't last a minute in jail with that beautiful hair!!!
Wonderful doc saw it on axs TV.
I love him.
Saw on this tour in Columbia, S.C......76 great show ....CHARLIE DANIELS opened, they were on fire as well...it was awesome and that was during that what him and Cher 2 months? Whatever it wasn't long they were together but she was on the side of the stage....great show though..
They were off and on for 3 years. After Elijah's birth they split for good.
great photo
Hair ? How bout his talent love for music and musician skills one of the greatest to ever grace The Filmore live or any stage for that matter

🎶✨✝️🔱✝️✨🎶
Yeah, Man; supposedly "Rubbed Elbows" with "Everyone else", also.Maybe gathered some "inspiration" from them, to write/play all that Great Stuff.
Just wish I could have met him
As always, Gregg's voice was amazing but the absence of Dickey Betts guitar in this version is very noticeable. If you read the history of the album, Gregg was spending much of his time in California with Cher and Johnny Sandlin had to fly to Cali to record Gregg's vocals for the album. Not long after this came the situation with Scooter Herring that broke the band up for a time. The band was in total disarray from all of this so we are fortunate that the band survived and went on to record some amazing albums
Gents- we’re gonna just have to agree to disagree on this one.. I’m sticking with my original assessment- this song’s not missing a damn thing.. except maybe 1 more verse- especially with that dope funky piano chord break before another piano or perhaps short drum/bass solo..
Dickey IS amazing. I’m not taking anything away from that genius. But just like Butch’s drums are NOT missed on “Stand Back” from EAP- Dickey’s not missed here..
GnL- you’d mentioned reading an album history: which album would that be- WL or D? I’m only presuming this was recorded 75-76, judging by Chuck’s sound & Gregg’s voice. I don’t think he laid this down for Laid Back.. maybe rehearsals leading up to the Gregg Allman Tour ‘74?
I’m constantly KICKING myself b/c now this anthology is impossible to find (I’m not paying $80-100-
F that).. I picked up OMT- anthology while in college around ‘99, in a half-off bin at some local yocal record shop in winter park FL.
Like most of my CD collection, it’s disappeared.. hung onto a few, no clue where this one went.. anyone know how to save & import songs from ____ to Spotify?? 😂 it’s not on there-
Happy Holidays, y’all.. in years past- we’d use this time of year to start lining up the Beacon run in March.. man- I do miss the BROS! Much love, take care of yourselves, enjoy your families.. & remember those we/they lost this year.. prosperity in ‘24
Muy muy bueno el loco Greeg
Still miss you 😢
Nice cover of Muddy Waters by the Brothers
great .

Brother
well said,,
Best Song, the voice is really legal.
I seen him in Boulder Colorado before he went to see Duane.
That’s Muddy, y’all.
Gregg and Wormsloe Plantation.. very southern🤩
🥰😍
MOOKKS- I’ve searched high n low for this version for years.. it ain’t on Spotify. The album it was released on “one more try- anthology” isn’t on there either. Not only that but that compilation anthology is very hard to come by to. Don’t know why, but it is.. IMO- this version, these players, no Dickey, Hands-down is better than ABB released version. An outtake, no less.. jeesh- the band, just kickin’ it around, jamming.. better than most could hope to do as a band at their respective best. Just saying..
Could have modelled for a shampoo way back in 70s, his blond hair as thick as Christie brinkley’s
Ditto ❤✌️
RIP GAPE #44
Nope you can't ❤️
chucky kickin it
Can't find this version on Spotify :(

Ain't that the truth
What a great version of “can’t lose”
Baaaadassss
Helllo
Unbelievable soul sound in this version, chuck leaves so awesome.without Duane or Dicky's incredible licks to back him up his voice just stands out.one of his very best.rip
Man, I’ve always thought this version far outshines the version that made it onto win lose or draw
Yes you've right!
Without Dickeys solo?..not even close.
@@jimhamlin6475
chuck's solo & general feel make up for whatever Dickey could've or should've added.. the overall up-tempo of this version is heads & shoulders above the cut w/ Mr Betts. Dickey is great- but NOT missed on this one. Not even a little bit. You can literally FEEL the band, having a ball- making art, smiling ear to ear. Dickey would've brought this session down, had he been there.. He wasn't in a good space at this time
Hey Matt, don't get me wrong, I love this cut,.. And Chuck, but I'm just saying that, to me this sounds more like the Gregg Allman tour album a ways back, more than the Allman Bro's band,...even though this good, do check out Betts solo on the same tune on the win lose or draw album, it kicks some serious ass. 👍
Idk, maybe Gregg has a better voice on this one, but Dickeys slide guitar makes this sound so much more swampy. And that end solo... man. But I guess it’s just personal taste so rock on.
This is a different version from the Allman Brothers version
Does anyone know where this picture was taken ?
From the photo session for the "Low Country Blues" album.

Destrehan Plantation ? in a reverse view?

That dude was hella tall.
I hear everyone but Dicky?
This was the demo???
Yes, you can listen this song on Gregg Allman's Album "One More Try: An Anthology (1997)
In a fake reality where you don't own anything and die anyway with eternal death of course you can't lose what you never had.
😰🤕😜
That long blonde hair . Mmm!
I respect...but I miss Muddy Waters....miss a lot. Miss Zappa too :(
When Duane died like a man riding his Harley, it must have created a void in Gregg's heart that never healed. Talk about living the blues. Life is truly suffering. Man I am going through it. Try radiation and chemo if you want to know what suffering is. Will I ever see the sun again? God take me now.
Hope you made it! 🙏🙏🙏
His bro Duane was second best next to Stevie Ray Vaughan Hendrix 3d💯💯💯💯💯💯
All greats, but all dead. Keith is still doing it.
This made it on the album? Not a hard song to play. The mistakes are unreal. Drinking ...
