When Derek Trucks is your back-up guitar you have reached the pinnacle of Rock performers!
Agreed! If I may add - If you are invited to play live with cameras along side of Eric, you are in rare and highly regarded territory!
Surrounded by royalty.
I saw him play in Atlanta when he was THIRTEEN!! Talent oozes out of every pore in his body!
I didn't think Clapton played in Atlanta until he was much older@@TriciaDeBary
Warren ain't too bad either. Who's the best of the three?
The historical levels of talent on that stage is just boggling.
well listen to Dylan Petty this man wn g harricon an Neil young doin my back pages with each other all on one stage❤

@@tarynciccarelloo57That is one of the best things I’ve ever heard & seen! I play it on guitar 🎸 & luv that song more than words can say.
Got that right !!
Who couldn't love this performance. One for the ages.
Epic and that's an understatement

Clapton born 45 Haynes born 60 Trucks born 79---Three generations of phenomenal guitarists on one stage!!!!
You got that right!
Wow! Thanks for the illumination! I had no idea that Clapton was so much older than Haynes! Guess you can only really tell from those close ups of him..... Clapton, that is.
It is awesome guitarist so many years apart
Digging the JAMMZZ
Got that right I remember this in the 90s check it out opened up for the allman brothers I was like who is that little kid playing on guitar ruclips.net/video/MLQTbmUYI4A/видео.html
Wonderful to see Eric play with Allman Bros.
Isn't it tho
Clapton welcomed to stage…Clapton “plugs in”…Clapton smiles and hits it and the groove is on!
this is not fair!
A musician’s musician
It's just Eric.....
This proves why Clapton is the best. He waits, but never follows.
I personally think Duane and Bettes were better than Clapton .
Only my opinion . ✌
Clapton was great long before these guys, great as they are.
@@michaelp.2842it seems to me we're comparing apples to oranges when we get at this level of talent Clapton is Clapton a truly transcendent performer Duane Allman liked him they cut an album together but his style and technique was unique to him
Never heard such nonsense
Eric and the Allman brothers , what a blessing !!!!!!!!!
Eric Clapton and the Allman Brothers are the best
I'm glad you never got on the Helicopter with Stevie Ray Vaughan Eric Clapton you are the best guitar player ever
I'm taking them to my grave. In case they didn't make it to hell?
I think the best player is Duane, long live Skydog! His solo on the original is unmatched
They could've taken this on the road.
My condolences to Eric Clapton. A good friend and guitarist passed today 18 Apr 2024. Dicky Betts has left the stage and he will be missed.
Good Lord, Yes.
@@virginiamiller9765 His music is great to wake up to in the morning, especially Jessica.
You know Heaven has the most incredible "House Band". 🎸✌️

I don't care what anyone says Eric Clapton is my friend...
Embarrassed to say, this is the first time I've ever heard this song. Played by masters, it's a beautiful piece of music I'll return to again and again...
Welcome to the greatest era of Rock :)
Not one tried to out-shine the other. Signs of TRUE professionals! Just fab.
Absolutely. They put the song above everything else right there.
that´s what music is about...great...
The Allman Brothers have been not trying to outshine, all along. since the very beginning if you thinks about it, an listen.
anytime you see EC play with anyone , its all about the music and not him. True professional

one more vote for eric being the GOAT
It saddens me that this level of greatness will remain unrecognized by so many people.
You live in a side little world. Plenty of people recognize it. That's why it's on youtube. What are you talking about???
@ Not everyone who loves great music, or not, engages with RUclips. If the did, this point would be mute. I am afraid however, that it is not. Hence, the comment.
You know the whole Layla album pretty much tanked. In the beginning I heard Layla played by a local Huntington band, Dionysus. I heard it again later as I got to know members of the band. Hard to find and then Layla was getting radio airplay. Erics greatest most soul baring music. Warren does a great Bobby fillin. Their two voices complemented each other so well
Met a young kid who’s favorite guitarist is Alvin Lee, there’s knowledge for you!
@ Thank you so much for sharing that incredible experience! Our young people could be our greatest hope! How inspiring!
I think its because Clapton's shown us how simplicity is cool. Many people these days are trying to appear talented with their playing styles, but he focuses on what matters: the sound. The beauty, the lyricism of his playing, its brilliant.
They make it look simple😎
Simple like AC/DC
Could not agree more.
yep.
Simplicity from three huge guitar talents..:-)
Eric, you are a treasure to so many of us who’ve been taken by you bring forth from your heart, your voice and amazing guitar since you started. Don’t quit now, because our generation is still listening to and loving you and your music!
This is the best music ever the '60s and '70s must stay alive
This video is very important to my past so many memories, makes a fella feel like he's in his twenties again.
As they say- being 20in the 70s was alot more fun than being 70 in the 20s😂
Best concert I have ever seen in my life and one of the greatest days in my life was when I went to the 2010 crossroads show. I kept pinching my arm just to make sure it wasn’t a dream.
Didn’t start off well, my wife missed a curb and fell very hard on the way to the CTA to go to the show. She luckily didn’t break anything. Then after about an hour at the show my wife started to struggle with the heat. I got a few water bottles poured them on her head to cool her down which worked.
Now I look back and feel so lucky on various levels. It was one of those days in life when things were just meant to be for us. Back then we were both in our mid fifties but acted more like we were 25. My wife she is a tough one. I love her to pieces. As well all those incredibly talented musicians.❤🎉👍🇺🇸
That’s a great story. God bless
A stage filled with so much genius, professionalism, mutual respect, and love! This humbles me and fills me with gratitude allowing me to spend another day clear minded and free. ODAAT Eric Clapton… you are an inspiration.
Or in reality you think somehow the life of complete strangers should somehow be your therapy for better living.
Sounds rather messed up actually.
Take Clapton a true scumbag who puts his own brain dead selfishness before an entire planet.
Acts like a jerk and your uplifted??
Best performance in years
Me too
Stunningly beautiful.
You nailed it. Doesnt get any better.
3 of the greatest guitar players of all time!!!!
Wish Duane was still with us , or there would be 4 up there 😢

Absolutely!!!!!!!👍👍👍👍
True Musical Talent Lives On In The Trucks Tedeschi Band…. Awesome!!!!!🎤🎤🎸🎸🎸🥁🎹🎵🎶🎼♥️♥️♥️♥️
The talent on stage are ALL legends in their own right...WOW incredible
Obviously a guitar great, but I've always admired Eric's vocal melodies and tone, too. They really cut through, fit every song perfectly.
That's interesting because when Clapton was with Cream he doubted his voice and was shy about it. One of the reasons that Jack Bruce sang so many of the Cream songs. EC obviously got over it, and began to stretch his singing with Delany and Bonny, where he could do that with some aninimity.
hes everything to me, a composer, an orchestrator, hes beyond anything ive seen
It wasn't until '461' that he accepted his voice and even now he's not fully confident. But, for me he has always been an amazing singer!!
Sooo cool. Two generations of legends and legends in the making. Thank you to all for a lifetime of the greatest music.
John Mayall is gone, generations changing hands. Wish the the young kids would appreciate these Legends 😩
Not too many of those left glad at 72 I got a chance to so many great ones
They will
It seems that way my grandchildren are aware of my generation's groups they sit with their grandpa and watch things like this or Jimi Hendrix doing voodoo child in 1970 in Hawaii or wishbone Ash live in 1971 so if we raise them up and the way that they should go LOL@@yvonnelevitt8372
All I play, grandkids love it.
A lot of them are. They put up videos of “1st time hearing”… It’s great to see and hear music I’ve been listening to since the 60’s newly discovered by them. I love seeing their expressions of complete shock. I was so fortunate to be able to hear and see live so many great musicians.
i cant stop watching Eric clapton, i am a blues guitar player and i have composed many blues songs of my own, my rythm, my solo, my lyrics., and Eric clapton has alywas been my mentor, and still, and i am from Saudi Arabia, and the culture of the blues is really rare, thats why i am sad, but i have a plan, i am trying to introduce my community to the blues, so i will be the first one, and who knows, maybe some American companies could invest this music here. but if i make this come true. i will be proud of my self. please pray for me
Anyone who looks to Eric Clapton has and doesn't need anyone's prayers. Play on. Play on. Play on.
Introduce your friends to You Tube and they will learn about rock roll and blues music. Good Luck in your future endeavors.
Abadez Blues May God shine on you brother. 🙏🏼
hi, have you seen John Mayall and Buddy Whittington...
I looked at your channel, all good, but nothing by you!!...if you are going to , want to , approach the damn blues, you need a voice....personal shit.....me? i went thru prison, a tough childhood fistfights every day at school, then i went to Yale university somehow!!..then i drank hard for 21 years, then prison again...top that sonny- boy!!....i heard more blues than anybody's business at cafe 9 in new haven connecticut....I work in the black ghetto every day at age 60, i can rap, I can breakdance, i can smoke crack with the best of them....I can still fack up the thugs...lets hear your blues.....the blues is a state of mind...I am not kidding, look me up.....! yeah!!
Clapton was probably my favorite 40 years ago...still the same.
This gives me goose bumps. Nothing but PURE music, from incredibly talented musicians. Derek sounded just like Duane, off the original LP.
PURE genus.
Was hitch hiking about the time this was released and was picked up by a hippy couple. Tie dies and beads, the whole 9 yards. So i got in the back of the vw combi and lay on the bed. The guy asked if i wanted a smoke and passed me a joint. I lay back getting on the way to becoming stoned when they put this in the cassette player. I thought I was in heaven. Just a nice little memory from my misspent youth.
One of the greatest versions of this song I've ever heard absolutely beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is so awesome. I seriously cannot understand how the shit on the radio is considered better music than this. These are incredibly talented MUSICIANS that perfect their craft, not move notes on a computer. I need to see Eric and Derek on the same stage!!
Derek was Erics nickname back in the day.
@@Intelligent_investor Now it's Chad.
To answer your question. The radio plays pop music Hip hop ect to the now generation. (. Kids ). That’s what sells . Not personal music like Blues , Classic Rock , Soul . Ect. That is personal music. We had our time. It’s gone . Just pull out the vinyl sit back and think about the great times you had. It’s their time now. .

Eric Clapton, the guitar GOD of all time! The synchronicity of these three musical geniuses, whe playing this wonderful song is astounding! Clapton raises the talent onstage exponentially!! That's music pure and simple, not the inane garbage called music today, God love Clapton and all onstage!!!
Gee I'd rather to the depth and lyrical symbolism of Cardi B. How far we have fallen and thank you Eric.
❤❤Im lost for words, this was 'A SWEET CONCERT ALL THE BEST '❤❤
One of my favourite Dominoes records , in the hands of these three masters , just awesome .
The fade-out jam gives me goose bumps... Beautiful!
Clapton makes old guys like me feel young again. I want to be Eric Clapton when I grow up.
He sure does from one old guy to another ,you are correct my friend.
I am a 64 yr old woman. & I too want to be Eric Clapton when I grow up :)
Careful what you wish for. He has had a pretty hard life. From a young boy until he stopped all drinking and drugging, but he came out on the other side. A better guitarist there will never be.
@@kimjasso9953 HAHAHAHAHAHA That's funny. I can think of a dozen better guitarist without even thinking. 2 of which are in this video.
@@04washere Maybe better technically, but there is a reason Muddy Waters called E. C. his son. The bands this man has been in are unparrelled. He is without a doubt a classic.
Great playing by the whole band. Clapton was great as well on vocals and guitar. Top shelf performance
And Warren too
What a fine performance brother Eric...Ty for sharing this...
I saw the Allman Brothers in 1974 in New Jersey Rosevelt Stadium and Eric Clapton played with them on a few songs. It was my first concert and it was great!
Watching Derek do some of the fills and solos that Duane probably did on the original studio version sends shivers down my spine, and on a beautifil "gold top" Les Paul no less. Fantastic line up of players.
I wonder if that is Duane’s Gold Top?
That’s Duane’s gold top.
The heir apparent!😎
where was boz?
Eric and The Allman Brothers always sounded so damn good together!!
It's so sad that Eric Clapton had to see so many of his fellow musician friends pass away. Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, Greg Allman, Mick Fleetwood, John Mayall, etc.
Mick Fleetwood's still alive.
@@cmdr.jabozerstorer3968 Sorry, my mistake
Not many would or could play with these guys but Clapton is one such man. For me his best is still with the incomparable, the mighty, the unforgettable CREAM.

Wow...the merging of great talent. And just giving each other some space to play freely...nice to see...that the song itself can have a flexible form in the hands of great artists.😊
When Gregg passed, it left a big, empty place in my musical life and I am thankful that I can come here and watch his life’s creations. Miss you, buddy. You’re the reason I bought and play a B3.
Duane and Dickey were better than Hendrix .
@@michaelp.2842 I agree
Dickey is the reason I gave up drums and bought a Les Paul in the mid 80’s
@@jaypickett3552 He defined the southern rock sound so I get it. Dickey is the driving force behind me playing guitar as well. Got my first guitar in 1983 and pursued their music as well as Skynyrd.
I went to Gregg’s funeral procession and saluted him. I figured it was the least I could do for him bringing so much joy to my life.
I was at this concert. All I can say is that it was one of the most special moments of my life to see all of these artists under one roof. Many of which I probably would have never seen if not for this event.
Terribly jealous. What a night it must have been.
Getting goosebumps listening and reading reviews!!!
Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad is one of the great, forgotten, under-rated songs of 1970. Originally recorded by Derek And The Dominoes.

My fave song from that album. No less.
How did we go from this to the current popular music ?

ANOTHER GREAT JAM SESSION, AND I ONLY WISH I COULD BE UP THERE WITH ERIC AND THE BAND.
That glorious ending with Derek channeling Duane's spirit as only he can and Eric getting to spiritually jam with his long lost mate once more....brought a tear to my eye.

Layla and other assorted love songs, imo, is one of the greatest albums, ever.. This is my favorite song on it. Watching these guys just rock out is awesome!
Couldn’t agree more on both counts. And how about this one on “In Concert”?
So tragic that we lost Duane and tragic that they never got to finish their 2nd album😞😞
@@jamesbyersmusic Duane gave that album the extra kick in the ass it needed!
What a beautiful conversation these three guitarists are having😊
The Allman Brothers Band had their own sound.Rip Greg Allman, one of my favourite songwriters.
I have been listening to eric clapton and following him since teenager, he is an outstanding and generous man , one thing you never hear is a scandal involving him only the heart ache he endured, not to mention alcoholism, that was not much in the public eye,he is a very private man !!! did I mention that I am 60 yrs old, so I have enjoyed most of his career. Long live the blues and long live Eric Clapton!!!!!
I am 60 too, just read his autobiography. He overcame heroin, alcoholism, depression. He's been through so much .... Very talented, decent human being
Oh he had his share of scandals and a lot of tragedies, survived what would have killed most lesser people and is a standard bearer for this music and a defender and respecter of other artists.
He said some controversial stuff in rolling stones magazine back in the 70s.. but he said was because was drunk all the time and was jus a drunken rant.
This wasn't a Crossroads Festival. This was an Allmans Show at NY City's Beacon Theater. I was there. Eric joined them for the last 4 or 5 songs of the show. Including In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, and they Finished with Layla. Derek in slide woulda made Duane proud ! Eric whispered to Derek as they walked offstage that he felt he "hadn't played like that since 1969". Absolutely incredible Show tho !
Thanks, i am som happy when i listen to theese great musicans .
Wow 😮, what a great thought!!!
Was there MSG about 11:30 pm......conclusion to a GREAT show.
I’ve watched this video about 50 times in the past 3 weeks
Three great guitarists at the top of their game! An absolute pleasure to watch.
Let's get this to a billion views.
That nearly ten thousand people liked this video and only 95 did not, fails to for speak to the impeccable musicianship this video exhibits. They are pretty talented. Don't try this at home
Man Derek plays so beautifully. Always gives me chills. I love Eric and the others too, but something about what Derek does that is so Derek and beautiful.
I completely agree, truly amazing
Warren is sooo under rated. Derek maybe even more. Very nice classy execution of a fabulous old song.
EC is a great humble human, not easy to be when you are what he is.
+mike jones Read his biography for some insight.
Check out the documentary, Life in 12 Bars. A must see for EC fans....
Mike Bush, read Pattie Boyd Harrison Clapton book. He's not as "humble" as you may think.
@@tw6289 Gee an 'ex' having shitty things to say, imagine that! Been in any relations? She talked shit about George Harrison too.
He was humbled over the years from being served it.
I saw Derek in S.F.. A woman out front said that there was a rumor that Carlos was going to come on stage.
Sure enough, near the end out from the curtain Carlos Santana walks out with his guitar 🎸 and the festivities commenced. Much like here, different voices on the best melodic instrument there is. Derek and Carlos, sweet.
Electric guitar 🎸 ♥ right on boys! 🕉
If I was given the choice of being any guitarist in the world 🌍 of all time it would be guess who I wouldn't have to think twice it's Eric Clapton 🎸👍👑 I don't know what it is but I could help it Clapton always hits the spot I think God used him to bless my life and he did thank you Mr Clapton ✝️
The magic of Eric Clapton and the Allman Brothers together is on full display at that show.
Clapton does justice to any genre's music I can listen to him alone but he is easily recognized when he's on set with anyone I love Eric Clapton''s raw soul
Wow I thought I'd never hear anything even close to the Dominoes version, but it's amazing how spot on they are here. The guitars are so sweet, the tempo changes seamless. Well executed by every musician beginning to end.
Captivating jam.Won't get tired of it.Soul stirring stuff. Will live on to etenity
Every time Eric performs it makes me want to throw rocks at my guitar.
Eric Clapton is amazing. He has been one of my favorites for years. I was lucky enough to see him in concert along with Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Holy crap!! Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton on one stage! Two of the best!!
We saw his last show at Alpine Valley in Aug 1990 when the fog broke out....
I would loved to see that . Saw SRV about a year before he left us . Wow When the news came out I was frozen from the mental pain in heart . Felt like I lost one of my best friends.
That stage is loaded with incredible talent 😌
Wow,I am astonished with the fact that I can watch this any time! Isn't that a treasure!
The differences between the Gibsons and Fenders are really enhancing the song.
Derek Trucks is an amazing guitarist! He and Clapton❤❤❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
No egos here watch Clapton smile when Warren and Derick is playing
Nobody has anything to prove..all excellent musicians!!!
This song is a masterpiece. Duane RIP🎉❤
Eric, I want to thank you for being so generous with your time over the years in working with so many different bands, some great, some working on being great, and for teaching so many artists, primarily guitarists, how to improve their playing. I think you don’t get nearly enough credit for that. May your career continue for many more years to come. By the way, I enjoy your playing a lot. Can’t tell I’m a fan of yours, can you?
Yes, all right!
Eric u inspires me to pick up a guitar when I was 14 got tobe pretty good played in a lot of local band usually playing lead guitar alot of your songs and voçal you Are definitely in the top 10 best guitar players in the world sadly I lost 3 fingers in a motorcycle accident and3 weeks in coma years ago can't play but I sing it songs and Jeff Healey Clapton,HendrixBB King

Did anyone catch Eric's acknowledgment to Derek. Priceless
Dereks tone is just unbelievable made my heart break just so beautiful they are all gifts but Dereks a gift from god
Eric’s look says it all he is so touched
Derek rules !
Not many times so much historical great gutsiest on one stage.
This version with all the guitars and Eric with Allmans is just too COOL!I love to see them playing off of each other. Not rehearsed , just doing what they love to do.
...and again Eric & Derek ! Awesome .
Clapton's the only guitarist who can make a guitar scream, cry & sing in equal measure. He's a truly magical, musical maestro....
that 100 piece rhythm section eats up all the dynamic headroom until around the 7:00's where it finally lightens up and they can become more expressive with their instruments.
Damn, do they sound awesome together or what?
So few things stop me in my tracks so to speak.
This is so one if those. Listening to this for about the 10th time in two weeks.
So f**king amazing!
RIP to all Allman bros band members who've past on to the next place.
And thanks so much!
That chord, whatever it is, that connects the verse and chorus puts me in another world - just incredible. And, as great as this performance is, Duane and Eric's recording on the Layla album is the standard.
a maj7
Thanks
How much does this remind those of us of a certain age from the original? I swear sometimes Derek is channeling the very spirit of the Sky Dog. Even Eric recognizes and acknowledges it with that little smile he gives Derek at the end.
I couldn't agree more. Derek is SO steeped in Duane's style, and this amazing rendition takes me right back to Media, PA and listening to the original on vinyl in 1973. I was a huge ABB fan, and of course, Eric Clapton. What a perfect nod to Duane. Eric must have truly been transported back in time for just a minute. With time, the pain of addiction and heartache disappears, and only the memory of pleasant moments remain. One of the most pleasant I've had in a very long time. This week will be 49 years since his tragic and untimely death. RIP, Sky Dog.
@Korbon Dallas it's not cool to hate. I've been around long enough to remember waking up and hearing the news of Duane's death on the radio. And I believe Derek has, in some ways, surpassed Duane's slide guitar playing. Not to take anything away from the Sky Dog - after all, he did it first - but I don't need to see a guitar player making lots of grimacing faces to know he has a very special gift.
@Korbon Dallas maybe if your short-term memory wasn't failing due to excessive vaping of CBD and cannibis oil, you'd remember what you said "I hate it when people try to make out Derek to even be close to Duane's guitar ability". So you hate people who appreciate Derek's not only honoring and echoing Duane's skill, and efforts to take slide guitar to the next level? Wow - that's so sad for you. And as far as MY music - well, let's see how little talent YOU have. Show us YOUR videos! Show us the songs YOU wrote. And show us your debut EP. I don't need anyone's approval. But apparently, the only way you can feel better about yourself is to put down others. Sad for you.
@Korbon Dallas oh yeah I see you're kinda good at imitating something Berry Oakley came up with like 50 years ago. Congrats on doing what like 100,000 people have done before you. You should be SO proud of yourself. And thanks for encouraging others who choose, after years of imitating others like you do, decide to do something different - to explore creating instead of imitating. You're such a wonderful human being. Your mom must be so proud. Are you still living in her basement, with the black lights and the neon posters? Wow!
@Korbon Dallas I never said channeling or echoing was a bad thing. Derek honors Duane with those licks, but then plays licks Duane never did or even dreamed of. Oh, and please do tell us about all the greats you've shared the stage with. I spent years figuring out and playing ABB licks, but now I'm into creating new music and don't need approval from you or anyone else. To each his own. Nevertheless, Derek is one of the best slide players to ever live, no matter what you say.
Warren Haynes guitar parts are a pleasure to listen to with all the other greats
I could listen to this all day. I'm gonna listen to this all day.
