I really liked the notion you added about a feel-good business should feel good from the start. I think if you start out going full-hardcore you will find it quite difficult to scale back how you are operating.
The segment about what you would do with a huge sum of money was the most useful to me. Having a purpose in life beyond hedonism is so important--this is where I think people misconstrue "money can't buy happiness," because it sure can if it gives you the freedom to pursue your passion that also helps others/the world while also being able to afford those extras like a Tesla, a Pro Display XDR, etc. But that also brings up the point that I see a lot of people trying to use credit cards to buy things they see successful people have in hopes of achieving their lifestyle, instead of learning the skills with whichever tools they can afford at that time and then upgrading when the time is right. Great video!
I found that I can do something I truly enjoy through the 5 steps. This was eye opening. Im interesting in starting writing and coding and even video editing while Im going through school online for Business.
@@slpdxhas said it well."a life beyond hedonism" In the Being a Leader course I teach we distinguish this as "being given being and action by being up to something bigger than yourself". I love how over the years of watching your channel we have been able to follow your journey from student, to doctor, to youtuber, to buisness owner. It's very inspiring and a great resource to follow at any stage. Thank you so much for the content
Incredible video. I learned a lot, and have your book on pre-order. I’m an older, less established version of yourself. I quit my nearly 200k job fresh off a promotion, started a RUclips channel, and became a stay at home dad 3 months ago. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made, and I haven’t made a penny. I love my kids and life flow way more than a grind for someone else. My main struggle is continuing the slow build. The last thing I want to do is forget WHY I did this. 1) Time with family 2) Help people work towards their version of financial freedom while not making the same mistakes I did. You were a huge inspiration for quitting my job and making the leap (been watching for years), and now you’re helping me stay balanced. Keep up the great work.
Ali has it all. He's got the skills of an engineer and entrepreneur and is trained in medicine. Thank you so much for all the content you have been a great help!
As someone who believed that to be successful you need to sacrifice happiness, this approach to work and business is very refreshing. Thanks for sharing Ali and looking forward to your future videos to expand on this topic.
I loved the part where you said that you love to read, write, learn and teach because that is exactly what I love to do and the very reason I want to start a RUclips channel. A humble request: please make a video on how to assess objectively if the RUclips niche one is going for has enough market validation! Thanks a lot! Genuinely appreciate the value you provide us with and dream of providing value to others just like you!

I get so busy with my business that I forget to enjoy life itself. so focused on making ends meet that I forget to appreciate the present moment. Thanks for the reminder, Ali. ❤
I have quite succesful small businesses now and people told me to open more and more and more, but I was like "nah, I won't be happy doing it if it's that big." Just now that I know it's called feel good business. For real, I enjoy my life.😊
10. We set our own deadlines: as someone who’s done several management/leadership programmes, I think this is extremely important and something people often find challenging. Set boundaries and don’t let the external pressures dictate your timescales, as long as your timescales are realistic and can be justified with evidence (this is when I can complete by due to x y z etc). Love the content, so glad I found it when my daughter had just been born. It’s helped me through several sleepless nights and restless days. I can now identify and visualise the opportunities available as an entrepreneur and organise my own journey into being a business owner.
This is such an inspiring concept! Building a feel-good business model that combines financial success with personal happiness is the dream. It's incredible to see how aligning your passion, values, and a positive impact can not only make you money but also fill your life with joy and purpose.
Great video! I feel like building a personal brand around your interests is the best way to create a 'feel-good business'. You research the topics you love and you share what you learn to grow your audience. Eventually, you can sell your solutions to problems as a product. This is such an exciting time to be alive!
Loving the 'Feel-Good Business Model'! It's about time we embrace a balanced lifestyle, prioritizing fulfillment & meaningful work while making bank! 🚀 Your insights on cultivating positive relationships and autonomy are game-changers! I think we're outgrowing the traditional models of business as a society. More and more we are seeing that mental health and a sense of purpose are becoming more and more important. Excited to apply the framework ! ☺✨
"The thing that you enjoy must also be a thing that you can sell" (people want) - That had not occurred to me. Simple, yet so insightful. Really do enjoy your videos. Serving as a valuable resource for personal and business growth.
i'm coming out fo working 100's of hours building my startup and i'm realising what the business is that I want to build and this sounds so much more aligned
I almost never comment, but this is the things I've been chasing the last 5 years, I just didn't have a name for it, now I do: "Feel-good Business" I'm still learning, trying and failing and again learning, I'll love this series.
I really don’t no how I get start my own business but when I started your vlog I feel I do anything about learn . And my lesson is I am not westing of my time thank you sir .
I have been crafting my own feel-good business helping recent retirees identify, create and grow (slowly) their micro niche business to bring fun, freedom and flexibility. But my model was nowhere near as clear as yours. Another basis for my business is the book Rigging the Game by Dan Nicholson which you might be familiar with. Plus I have never seen a video pack more value into less time than this one-kudos!
This is the first video I've ever watched from you and I'm hooked! You really bring across your points well, what you do and the way you talk is so inspiring! Thank you so much.
really awesome content! Appreciate it :) step 1: discover your passion skill and validate the market step 2: generate leads step 3: build your mvp step 4: scale sustainably and work life balance step 5: periodic re-evaluation and pivoting
Love this! I left the Big-4 and long hours to grow my own accountancy practice in the UK. I’m totally focused on building a feel good business in the Accounting space, where so many others want to scale & grow as fast as they can. Both great business models, but very different approaches. ❤
I'd like to hear more around running businesses and creating brands in the creative industries especially music and events... I used to promote/ host events and I am keen to find the motivation and joy to get back into that space.
Maybe a good idea would be to start a mini-series where you go over examples of how you would start/grow businesses in specific areas such as art/design, coding, editing, woodworking, music, videography, etc. Mainly just going more in-depth on topics that many people are passionate about.
What helped me the most was the breakdown of the 3 forms of business (content, product, & service), and what I realized is that I could use my content business to serve as a “marketing machine” for my services and digital products!! Thank you, Ali 🙏✨
There was so much great insight and i found it at the right time as I was wondering how to start my business. It was always 'maybe' thing and 'how am I going to do' question that always wonder wherever I think about starting business. But this video helped me so much. It really gave a look on the future entrepreneur to see what is coming ahead and how can we make our work that is something enjoyable to do. Like Steve Jobs said, "The only way to do great work is to love what you do". I am really looking forward to this series so much. Maybe it can help us on how to deal with investors and clients and how to handle unexpected downfall in business. Great job team!!
So excited for this series! I found your content a few months ago and you've managed to explain elements of business, productivity, RUclips, etc in a way that makes it no-longer stressful. Thanks for sharing, Ali.
Hi, Thanks a ton for this series. Can you maybe discuss on how you create your SOP’s or generate new ideas keeping it trendy yet honest and unique to you? I love your videos. I have always been inspired and motivated by you . I am an addicted listener of your deep dives while walking with my baby dog. Inspired by you, i am going to start a handmade décor business.
Ali, I only discovered your channel a week ago, when I saw you in a clip in “Behind the scenes of Diary of a CEO”, looked up your channel and then binge-watched a load of your videos. Love your style, energy and content and am finding the business-oriented videos super helpful and very inspiring. Looking forward to the rest of this series.
OMG I love this series. Thank you so much for sharing all of this, Ali. I would love to see more videos on the concept of feel-good business and how to avoid the common pitfalls.
Very excited for this series! I’m at the nascent stage of a startup and my cofounders and I have been discussing exactly this - do we go for the high growth startup model and sacrifice flexibility and time with our loved ones? The issue is if you do end up needing some funding… I feel like everyone is trying to be the next unicorn without really thinking about what that means irl! So great to hear you talking about it 👏
I loved the way you broke your process down. And you helped me nail my favourite things to do that I can monetise! Like you, I love reading, learning , writing and teaching! As I have ADHD I have a lot of interests and passions but all are underscored by those four activities. While my interests wax and wane as something else grabs my attention at the core is my passion for learning and sharing what I have learnt. Thank you for giving me this insight! Now I can move forward to create a business plan I can stick with and not worry I will lose interest or end up hating it. It will be flexible and able to pivot but remain based on this core understanding of how to meet my personal priorities, not just my economic ones.
I appreciate that you're taking us on the Business Class right from Day 1. I just started out my Feel Good Business and will follow through your lessons to help me grow sustainably.😊
Hi Ali, The thing which I loved the most about this video was that while thinking about a new business, trying and testing different things should be one part of the journey and evaluation of the product's market should be considered as a must bearing in mind. Lots of good stuff in this one. Thanks a million ❤❤❤
Hi ali, my name is maaz ahmed, i am 18 and lives in pakistan. i recently got soo much inspired by iman gadzhi, you and many other people that I started my own marketing agency. you wont believe me but seriously I've been following all the stuffs that you are telling to grow your business and feel like it's not a burden but a feel-good business. i really want to meet you once in my life. you are helping me a lot in my journey, thanks for that.
Hi Dr. Abdaal, Fantastic content! What I found most useful about this is "The Process." Please allow me to explain, I've started your Foundations course, I've been writing my business plan (very similar but I like portions of yours more, specifically calling out the focus on Freedom, Fun and Flexibility (F*3)). I have F*3 on my whiteboard but didn't include it in my business plan. I'll be going back to include this and several additional elements. I just submitted my paperwork for my LLC for my future channel, (i.e. I started with the end in mind) knowing I want to focus on content creation as a business and account for expenses). I'd love to see more as your plan evolves... I really enjoyed your videos with R. Waite, Codie Sanchez, and many others regarding the business aspects of the industry. Sorry, long post. Cheers!
Great video. I’ve built my business this way over 14 years and have focused on slow sustainable growth. I also have done this as a homeschooling mom of 4 , with a child with special needs. All full time jobs really 😂. But what has kept me going is doing what I love and staying flexible. My model is never for the masses.
Started out as a freelancer, I now own a lifestyle food marketing agency - I provide food photography services, create my own recipe content and run F&B brands' social media accounts. So my thing is food. But now I feel like I'm getting old for social media management, food photography gigs are a lot more physically demanding but leaves a good profit. And the food content, I love it and that's where I feel like I can provide value to more people. So now I am at the crossroads, laid off my team of 3, became a solopreneur again. I'll just focus on the recipe side until I know what I want to turn the business into. Because you have to be out there in a way to show that you're still in business! Thank you for all the information you give to us, this was particulary validating and inspiring!
Great timing on this video. I'm in the process of shifting my business of 8 years to something that is "feel good" And one phrase I keep coming back to is "Calmpreneur" (Totally not the first to use this term. Kerstin Martin has a great "Calm biz manifesto" related to this) I often ask myself "What would my business look like if I felt calm running it?" It's been guiding a lot of the changes I make. Looking forward to seeing more of this series!
Thanks for sharing your tidbits.. it’s funny how I’m adding to my own notes before watching your content- and then I see how well you thought out what I’m trying to build and even covered beyond, showing me what I’m working towards. It helps move me faster along my own process- so thank you. I also Love your hand written transitions- and I had that in mind on my own, so it feels good to see I’m in the same frequency as the top creators.
I've been thinking about the concept of: "the life cycle of a niche" and the framework you shared has added to these incomplete thoughts i'm having about it
I've been trying to think of this business model but I just couldn't put it into words, this is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks Ali. I'd also love to hear examples of skills/starting points from different areas (e.g. creative, analytical), as you said, we can try out as much as we can, but finding a starting point can be quite overwhelming with so much options.
Right video at the right time!! I've been contemplating starting a business that would support the slow life that I want. Most people around me believe that you have to be extremely ambitious and at least a little cunning to be successful in a business. I don't subscribe to the belief but have been doubting it lately as I was exposed to a few founders. This video gave me hope that I needed to get started!
It’s a nice idea and I do agree that eventually everyone should be aiming for this. But I think you just give a fuzzy idea and I’d argue one cannot take the “feel good” parameter as the major indicator of when they’re starting a business as most things likely won’t. You on the other hand have the luxury to choose only things that feel good after having made it. At a time where we grow more and more complacent this everything should feel good full trend does more damage to people who are just getting started.
Love it!! You could do a series on feel good relationship, feel good health journey, etc 🥰 Reminds me of Tim Ferriss concepts and lifestyle designs…. More people could benefits from feel good choices in the long term futur self work life balance 🙌🏻
Love it! Hope this series will continue. I'd love a detailed starter guide to the feel-good business after you introduced it in this video. I'm a 3rd year SW student following in your footsteps after enjoying your content for years.
The key with Ali and all his content, is you can can totally vibe with his authenticity and love for what he does. Im training as a Psychotherapist and people talk of the ‘therapeutic alliance’ or the relationship between therapist and client being the key to change independent of psychological modality being used. Basically if you get on with someone, or in this case get that intuitive feeling that someone is a decent person you value what they say and do. Great content Ali have helped me loads while I establish a business for first time, best wishes Aman❤
Love your business model. I wonder if you could speak to the lack of good management leadership in business? I am surrounded by 20 something’s and it is rare that I hear “my boss really challenges me to be my best” or “ I love how my boss listens to my ideas and helps me understand how they can be implemented and how long it will take.” If we could harness all that energy and funnel it in a positive direction, wow… what a world this would be. Maybe this topic is for deep dive, but just wanted to put the idea out there.
Loved it, Ali. The part that really resonated with me was the example of woodworking. I think there are a lot of ‘how-to’ people/channels out there that would benefit from some advice on business and types of digital products they could create, instead of solely relying on their hands to bring in income. I always appreciate your work. Thank you. Cheers, Kerry.
I find very useful the concept of a feel-goof business model in which growth is not the main point. I think it’s essential to bear in mind that a business and money is not everything in life.
I really enjoyed hearing about this different approach! It reminded me of the 4 hour work week in some ways and got me thinking about how I want my own business to be structured!
Thank you for putting together a video that shows what happens on the other side of Productivity. The journey isn't just about growth, money, success - what is the point of all of this if you are just filling up the saved time with more of the same! I would love to see more of these realisations - I'm sure you have a huge bank of content from the book writing and business management process that will be worthwhile sharing. Ps. Please do a crossover with Chris Do from The Futur.
a commenter said it well."a life beyond hedonism" In the Being a Leader course (an ontological and phenomenological method) it is distinguish as "being given being and action by being up to something bigger than yourself". Ali touches on this too. It might need to be included in the common mistakes section. OR fun, freedom, flexibility AND CONTRIBUTION
Listening to your videos brings me so much peace! Love the feel good business idea and how it is all about work and life balance! Looking forward for more videos related to building a business! Thank you sooo much Ali for the content you create!
This is really good. Thanks Ali. I’m currently taking RUclips as a business as a content creator and also building products as a product creator Your channel has really inspired me on all of this
Love the terminology "Feel Good Business". May I use it to describe my new franchise business model (as it checks most of not all of the principals that describes that type of business)?
Everything!! The ideas we get from u always help us in many ways, now that you’d share your business journey with us is really going to help us in the future and would try to implement these things in our lives.🌸🌸
Super interesting video! The charter is super useful, I will do one for the business I am starting. The comparison of the business models really helped to see where the feel good business stands. Your return on experience about scaling and the risk of forgetting to do things just for the joy it brings when you have fun in your work. And the questions to ask ourselves at some steps really helped me! Thanks!
What a clear and informative breakdown of the basis for the growing segment of businesses which are more online-focused and based on passion, sustainability, and enjoyment!
Great video Ali, I just love the way you break down concepts and deliver them in such a clear and simple manner. The point about optimizing for lifestyle is so important. Sometimes I feel that if I don't put the extra hours than I've done nothing. But in the end of the day, I want my work to be in service of my life, and not my life to be in service of my work.
Ali this is such a great video. I work with many startups to help them with GTM and so many have been sucked into the ‘ I must raise funding’ most of these fit in this category and if they simply focused on this they would be building a better business as their focus would be in the right place. My own passion is learning, teaching and coaching. So I need to take this lesson myself! I had no idea Spotify hosted courses 😳👏🏼
Thank you for this video; it's great and has come at a time when I needed it the most. I work as an independent consultant, and with the demands of business development, it's easy to forget the initial reason I started my company. In my case, I found myself losing the fun aspect and becoming overworked, despite the business performing well. Your video is helping me realign with the essentials. I've even revisited "The 4-Hour Workweek," delving into concepts like Pareto Analysis, to eliminate the less enjoyable aspects and stay true to the core values you've highlighted here. And it is important as well, for each part to have ways to assess if a project/client/mission aligns with these values and to be able to measure it (e.g. FREEDOM = margins rates calculations before/during/after a project starts) imho.
I really enjoyed this new series! Thank you so much, I would love to see if you can share how to find and select the topics that get you the retention you have been able to achieve 🙂
Hi Ali! I found this video so inspiring. What you say at the end about actually putting more focus into enjoying life, friends and family and the things you really enjoy but don’t give yourself permission to do that often because they don’t make the business grow, uf! I struggle with that as well, even if my business is just starting to take off 😅 it’s insane how easy it is for us to lose the structure that gives us balance in this sense. Thanks for making these videos. I can’t wait to see more from this new series 🙌🤎
Dude, I love your approach and development of this third type of business model. I think it's suited for the times we live as we see a renegotiation of the value of capital vs quality of life. I would love to get involved and help you out anyway I can, even if it's just trying to spread awareness of the beautiful innovative approach to business you've built and structured. I’m thoroughly impressed with what you’re doing, keep it up!
thanks for this perspective and hope that such a business is possible. My partner and I both have chronic health conditions that make it hard to do things "normally". Working out how to apply our skills and knowledge to the service/product/content question is helpful.
Loving the 'Feel-Good Business Model'! It's about time we embrace a balanced lifestyle, prioritizing fulfillment & meaningful work while making bank! 🚀
Excellent new series, Ali! I particularly enjoyed the feel good business charter! Although you talk about these principles on your channel, I appreciate seeing your written document of it too with a clearly defined mission and values. This seems like the perfect branch off of your new book, too, which I can’t wait to read! Thank you for laying out the feel good business model as this is exactly what I’m trying to achieve in my business. The similarities and differences between the business models were really well thought out and explained.
Amazing Video Mr. Abdaal! Loved the Purpose " To create a business that prioritizes personal fulfillment, meaningful work, and a positive impact on the lives of our customers, our team members, and our audience. Very well written!

First of all, thank you for the video! Amazing contet as always. Also, special thanks to the editor. The transitions and animations were next level
I usually refer to it as a "Lifestyle Business," but I love how you've elevated the concept to something much more meaningful!🎉
I've been using Lifestyle Business as well to describe my franchise model and I too like the the Feel Good wording

The dedication and consistency, efforts this guys puts into his content is underated❤❤
With almost 5M subs, I think it's safe to say he is pretty highly rated :)
Hi Ali,
The thing which I loved the most about this video was that while thinking about a new business, trying and testing different things should be one part of the journey and evaluation of the product's market should be considered as a must bearing in mind.
Love the animation and editing in this video! Stellar job to the editor of the video!
Cheers!
This is a worth-your-time, enjoyable video - thanks! I just subscribed bc I like your quality videos and your integrity oriented work-life philosophy.
I completely agree.. the fun of business is when you enjoy doing it.. and money is just the byproduct.
This is an AMAZING Series idea! Looking forward to more videos. Especially enjoyed that you showed us the manifest ❤
Also, the editing is sick in this one 😍
I love everything about this video. MVP and market viability is definitely food for thought.
I love how honest and sincere you are. Learnt a lot through this video! Look forward to the series!
Love it!! You could do a series on feel good relationship, feel good health journey, etc 🥰
Reminds me of Tim Ferriss concepts and lifestyle designs….
More people could benefits from feel good choices in the long term futur self work life balance 🙌🏻
Please keep this series going!
I am surrounded by 20 something’s and it is rare that I hear “my boss really challenges me to be my best” or “ I love how my boss listens to my ideas and helps me understand how they can be implemented and how long it will take.”
If we could harness all that energy and funnel it in a positive direction, wow… what a world this would be.
Thank you.
Cheers,
Kerry.
The charter was the most helpful part. To set gives to be able to go back to
Every day is a new learning experience. Thank you for sharing with us.
I find very useful the concept of a feel-goof business model in which growth is not the main point. I think it’s essential to bear in mind that a business and money is not everything in life.
Love this new video series!!!! From mentoring med students to youtubers to budding entrepreneurs, you're the ultimate guru!!!!
Love the video Ali , this is really helpful, I have never really thought of business this way!
I really really learned a lot from your channel, my great mentor. Thanks, and keep up the good work
I really enjoyed hearing about this different approach! It reminded me of the 4 hour work week in some ways and got me thinking about how I want my own business to be structured!
Always a good feeling to see a new video from Ali!
He’s also the biggest reason why I’ve started my own channel.
It's fascinating to listen about the obstacles you face and how you deal with them
a commenter said it well."a life beyond hedonism" In the Being a Leader course (an ontological and phenomenological method) it is distinguish as "being given being and action by being up to something bigger than yourself". Ali touches on this too. It might need to be included in the common mistakes section. OR fun, freedom, flexibility AND CONTRIBUTION
I can't wait to dive deep with you in this series Ali
Listening to your videos brings me so much peace! Love the feel good business idea and how it is all about work and life balance! Looking forward for more videos related to building a business! Thank you sooo much Ali for the content you create!
This is really good. Thanks Ali. I’m currently taking RUclips as a business as a content creator and also building products as a product creator
Your channel has really inspired me on all of this
Glad it was helpful!
Love the terminology "Feel Good Business". May I use it to describe my new franchise business model (as it checks most of not all of the principals that describes that type of business)?
After the podcasts episodes i was hoping you’d get into this annnnddddd i cant tell you how excited i am! Thank you!!
Thanks!
Thank you so much! This video came to me at the perfect time when I am on a cross-road. Merci!
Thank you for sharing this video with us, Ali. Small and scalable business is far better than being overwhelmed with stress. More videos please
Loved your editing skill Ali ❤ it's enhancing 😎
Great! I don't normally comment on youtube videos and I never take notes. I did both this time. Thank you!
1 min into this and I like the editing already!
Ali this video needs to be turned into a book. There are thousands of books on business but not many on this type of business
Amazing Video Mr. Abdaal! Loved the Purpose " To create a business that prioritizes personal fulfillment, meaningful work, and a positive impact on the lives of our customers, our team members, and our audience. Very well written!
