Thanks for this review. Ended up picking one of these up from Micro Center and it's a great machine. Upgraded to 16 gigs of RAM. Bought a matching RAM stick on eBay for $22. Great deal.
I recently purchased the 800 G5 model as my home productivity machine (i7 9700T, 16GB RAM, 512GB M.2). I've also added a 1TB Samsung 860 EVO for extra storage and I'm looking at adding another 16GB RAM very soon. Not a bad bit of gear, thought it can run a little warm at times depending on what's going. Tj. Max on this CPU is 100 degrees celsius, and the most it's probably hit is around 85 but only briefly. It usually idles somewhere within the 40-50 range. Fan noise is almost non existent for anything under 70 degrees.
@@juanpablodominguez3189 I didn't really get to test games on this PC, mostly because my co-worker needed to get it out and deployed minutes after I finished filming. If I had more time with it, I would have tested it better. Though I have access to its big brother, the 705 G4 SFF. It has the same CPU and should perform similarly. I can test that when I have time away from work. As I still have to work full time in that office.
Please could you check if it can run da Vinci resolve 18.1? I need it run on this g4 with nvme version, i need it just for simple audio editing and and need to get access to da Vinci resolve studio, for now i use ipad version of da Vinci
Thank you for the review. I have a question, does it support 3440x1440 ultra wide monitor? I know Mac minis don't because of the limitation on the igpu. so I am curious if the onboard Vega can? I cannot find any info regarding to that. It would be great if you can find out and I will really appreciate that. If the onboard vega can push an ultra wide monitor, then I definitely will grab a bunch of these for my offices.
Don't know if you are still looking for an answer 3 years later, but this is the j41 MXM connector. It is used for the HP AMD Radeon RX560 4GB graphics card that is compatible with this PC. 1L PC with a graphics card and a AM4 socket CPU not something you see everyday. You do need to sacrifice you HDD bracket in order to install the GPU, but you still have your m.2 slot. You also need a more powerful power supply as the 65w will just not cut it, you will need at least a 150w one. Hope this answers your question
I would appreciate it if anyone can provide insight on how loud the fan in the Elitedesk 800 g4 mini 65w? I have owned the Lenovo m901q and i loved that the fan was so quiet.
The fan is super loud. Part of what I hate about these is the design is very inefficient for cooling. The grid for airflow is entirely facing up, so it collects dust and is hard to clean especially in a work environment, and the biggest surface area lays almost flat with almost no airflow. So unless you can rig it up to have better airflow it will run hard constantly while in use.
I have this, bought it from Microcenter for HTPC purpose. I have 2x8GB 3200Mhz Ram from my laptop that I dont use anymore.. So I replace the ram :) You can play LOL/DOTA at max settings 1080p just fine.. I even replace the SSD with Inland 512GB Nvme (3100mb/1900mB) read/write and game load so fast. You can pretty much game on these computer at 1080p with customize high texture / med/low settings. Not Ultra tho :L. but this desktop is worth it you can carry it anywhere with you.
@@juanpablodominguez3189 you can play it just fine in 1080p GTA 5 *with lower Anti alliasing and other effects*. you can get solid 60fps.. temperature is about 55-60 Degree, depending on how many hours you play.. it also depend on your room temperature. mine never get pass 65 Celsius while playing for 6-10 hours... The CPU support up to 95 degree celsius so your good.
@@toytulog576 Hi! How loud the cooling fan is? I have read some people complaining about the noise generated by the fan & heatsink in this model. Thanks!
It can do lite stuff. This little guy has the brain but not the brawn. The lack of a DGPU will hurt the performance of effects that rely on GPU acceleration.
With the numbers i got On the vega 11 onboard gpu. Csgo at 1080p got mid 50s fps with gpu settings at default. Rocket league was 40s to 50s on performance quality setting, gta v was 30s to 40s at 720p lowest quality.
It may be good to properly film and to check the video quality before upload. At 5:05 for example, the focus is quite inaccurate, leading to a blurry, unwatchable image (which is quite ironic since the goal is to see how 4K is played, and the person then says the playback seems fairly decent...). Then as before (other videos), filming at a wide angle should be considered a no-no.
Thanks man, i was looking for the internals of this device and your video poped out!, keep rocking!
Thank you

Well done....not flashy hyperbole....just real world bench marking and comparison.
Thanks for this review, i just picked one up
Buen video bro!
Tengo uno igual y lo considero bueno incluso para gaming low!
Saludos desde cd mexico
Thank you. I hope you are safe and are doing well.
Puedo jugar GTA V en 720p y graficos bajos con este equipo?
Seria bueno que hicieras un video en tu canal testeando varios juegos con este equipo

@@SimpleSilicon Ok, thank you for the answer. I'll wait
This is the desktop PC that I use at work!
I almost didn't buy it for the negative comments across sites about the fan noise. I have no noise whatsoever and could not be happier.
There are RX560 4gb GPU special made for this PC at around 75 USD.
Hi
I bought one recently one of these and wanting to upgrade, what cpu would work?
Good review brozy
Like your presentation. could you please provide a link to where I could purchase this model?
Thank you. As for buying it, your want to call HP or google the product name and buy from a third party such as Newegg or Amazon.
If you haven't purchased yet I got an outstanding deal at B&H Photo.
Is this good for heavy excel processing?
Does your unit gets hot all across the case with mild usage?
The small formfactor and small cooling solution is not the best for cooling. When used for general office use, the cooling is sufficient.
@SimpleSilicon That's right, I'm thinking to add thermal pads on top of the ram and maybe under the cpu motherboard, to reduce heat under heavy loads.

You'll want to look at the product page. At this time I do not have access to a UWHD monitor to test the output.
In theory, it can, as it is display port 1.4 compilant,
How is the noise level at idle and light tasks (Office work, simple web browsing, youtube 1080p)?
Its fairly alright. You wont notice in an office environment.
Whats the white port for under the hard disk enclosure?
