    If you could add a dedicated graphics like this one but on a more advanced system with R5 5500U+ it would be a huge boost probably.

    You should buy the lenovo m720q instead. I purchased that instead of this machine for the same price with a i7 8700T. It also has a pcie card and you can install a lp gpu in it so it's more versatile. I have a 4gb T1000 in mine but you can put a rx6400 etc... in it.

    Really excited to try this! love my Elite g4 for emulation. Does great with PS2, Wii, gamecube. Feel no need to "switch" to anything else but wouldn't mind an extra boost for PC games that cheap. Can you put the model number for the power supply you got for the upgrade in a reply or a link. The rest looks very straight forward.

    There is another option. That port is something HP calls "Flex IO", and there's a thunderbolt 3 flex IO board. You could use a thunderbolt docked graphics card with this system.

    I have a HP Micro with the Ryzen 3400GE CPU, 16 GB RAM. No graphic card. I can run GC, WII, PS2 at 2X resolution no problem. It runs Switch games with Yuzu but at 720P. I use a 150 W power supply.

    You can get a NVME to PCIE x 16 adapter. Think they are for mining but I've used one a desktop before that had a broken PCIE GPU slot and it worked fine.

    Curious how well this runs on linux mint / chimeraos. Should be a lot easier on the cpu..
    How much Power is the thing drawing with the gpu running?
    Well if you have a frame rate limiter in there looks like this thing can be turned into a good 1080p / 40fps machine with a boost on easier to run games.

      according to my watt meter, the system while running ghost of tsushima was pulling around 80-90W depending on what exactly is going on in the scene. not too much more than the power usage of 7840HS/8845HS systems with higher TDP settings. The UM780 XTX at the high performance setting pulls around 80W from the wall while gaming.

    Have you considered using custom drivers along with turning on AMD SAM?

    • @joseph3164
      @joseph3164 2 месяца назад

      Amd sam would probably help but these mini pcs have pretty minimal bios options. For instance most don’t have an option to enable above 4G decoding or resizable bar, even though those settings are inherent to PCIe 3.0.

    Might do this if I already had the PC. But, I wouldn't bother gathering the whole thing together from scratch. The 70 bucks would be to extend the useful life a bit. Buying it all, means you are starting at that point.

    The lower fps averages in newer titles might be due to the 4GB of Vram, while the 8GB RX 580 can handle fallout 76 fairly well. Id still use this setup for older games as well as faster transcoding times in handbrake via linux, etc :)

    When your system is like 250 as shown and feels just bad and you can get a brand new same sized MS-01 12600h for like 600 with dGPU, it is becoming tempting to save a bit more. Not really appealing to me. Better stick to old mid-sized workstations for cheap gaming in my opinion. 😎

    How loud was this? 😂 I got a cut down version (35w) of this mini pc and its a jet engine fr fr, cant imagine the loudness on this one with the extra gpu fan.

    • @EVOTech1
      @EVOTech1  2 месяца назад +2

      you know I was actually surprised by how not loud it actually is lmao. I think what helps is that neither the GPU or CPU is really running all that hot when you have both. they each now have their own independent cooling system as apposed to when it's the CPU and iGPU running at the same time, competing for power and for cooling capacity. since the iGPU isn't running, the CPU actually runs noticeably cooler and quieter. The GPU also doesnt really seem to be configured to pull a lot of power so it kinda just runs pretty cool and quiet. it doesn't seem to be as powerful as a normal desktop RX 560 as a consequence of that tho.
