I knew Jan most of my life. My sister was in the original Vixen band with Jan. She was an amazing talent, beautiful and a nice person. Miss her always.❤
Hello there again, and I say again because I was here last night on the other post that someone put up with the newer lineup of Vixen, but I didn't realize that this beautiful lady and her amazing talent had been taken away from us all in the tragic way that it was, but I will repeat that I did have the opportunity and privilege of seeing Vixen one time back in the 80's at the Ft Wayne Memorial Coliseum in Ft Wayne Indiana, and I finally figured out exactly what other bands they were playing with when I saw them!!! And once again, please forgive me for not being able to remember very well, because it was quite awhile ago, and I have also been to so many concerts over the years, and seen so many bands as well, and I am going to be 63 years old in February!!! But I figured it out, and the 3 bands were Ozzy as the headliner, White Lion was the second band to play, and Vixen opened the show!!! And according to what I found on this information, Vixen was actually touring for their debut album, and that's exactly what I thought, but I was definitely having a hard time remembering who they played with, but in my memory, i was almost positive that White Lion was one of the other bands, but I just wasn't 100% sure!!! But I also was wrong in thinking that White Lion headlined the show, because I totally forgot about Ozzy being the one who did!!! Anyhoo, enough of all that, because I don't want to make such a huge deal out of all of that as I kinda did, but it's just important to me that I get my facts right!!! But the main reason I came back here was to once again say how sorry I am to to learn about Jan Kuhenenumd's passing away in Oct, and I am assuming that was this last year the way the information was read??? But whatever the case is, I am extremely saddened to have heard about this because I really thought a lot about Vixen and what they brought to the table with the music they did, and the biggest thing to me was Jan's guitar styles and her performance that night I saw them as well, because I have been a huge guitar player wanna be since the age of about 12-13 years old, and a guitar player fanatic with all of the rock and metal bands I've seen over the years, and definitely very much have a lot of guitar heros, and Jan was one of those, so I just really felt the need to again say that I am very sad for her herself, and the tragic way she passed with cancer, and I want to also send my condolences to her family and loved ones, and the rest of her fans across the world!!! My thoughts and prayers are with you all, and I will say peace to you as well!!! R.I.P. Jan Kuehnemund!!! (Ernie Wilber) 🤘😢🤘✌️
she was more beautiful than that, I know everyone has their own taste but I cant understand anyone looking at all of them and finding anyone of them more beautiful than Jan.
Gotta give Jan a ton of credit for staying true and keeping Vixen going when alot of others would have given up. Great riffs...especially Rev it Up. Rest in peace Jan.
Very sad that this talented lady had to leave us so soo. Very refreshing to see these beautiful women of back then, no botox, fillers etc, just pure beauty.
I saw them in Newcastle many moons ago. They are talented and the girls were very beautiful and kind. I miss her so much she was such a wonderful person with a lot of talent. RIP Jan. Steve ❤️
I didn’t care for Vixens music, but had respect for this band because they were an all female band in a male dominated industry. A great tribute my friend as always! ❤😊
Yes I agree 💯 Especially how hard it was for them to be taken seriously. Thank you so much for watching and your kind words as always Mrs Harrington, very much appreciated 🤗💞
i miss you jan so immensely. i miss you immensely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! god bless you jan. god bless her heart and soul. she was so intelligent and really smart and pretty and really really talented. she had such talent. she was so talented. rest in paradise jan. my friend. rest in heaven jan. may she rest in peace. may she continue to rest in peace and love. in love and peace and harmony. you are still missed jan. you are sadly sadly sadly and truly truly missed. you are sadly and greatly greatly missed jan. greatly missed. gone but never forgotten. gone far far far too soon.god bless you jan. bless her beautiful beautiful soul.
SO......many GREAT bands in the 80's. Vixen was 1 of them. It seemed like a great live band was in the Cincinnati area every weekend playing. That's what we did back then....had fun and went to live shows. VERY affordable to do that in the day. CHEERS to ALL
I crushed so hard on Jan when I was a teen. Had many posters of Vixen adorning my walls too (yes kiddies we did that back in the 80s and early 90s). Jan was a hell of a guitarist and soooooo criminally underrated. During the reunion that VH1 did, Jan really felt betrayed that her sisters might want another guitarist in the band (Jan thought she was being replaced). Whatever happened Vixen's legacy is due to Jan. RIP
I still play I want you to rock me all the time Jan’s playing in that song is excellent and it’s stands up to anything in rock and roll no doubt. and the edge of a broken heart video Jan’ was smoking hot
Always thought Jan looked like she could have been Nancy Wilson from hearts sister! They resemble each other so much! Rest in peace Jan ! You are the Vixen ⚡️space ace Ron⚡️
i think they were the most beautiful band in Glam Metal.... they are coming to Toronto next year April with Slaughter whos also my fav band and Great White. I better go and check them while they are still around. their current lead guitarist Britt Lightning looks and plays great as i've seen from Wacken 2023
Saw them at Milton Keynes with Bon Jovi sorry I wasn't that impressed but hey different people different things. Thank you again for this it's brightened up my night at work ❤❤
jan was such a fantastic guitarist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she really was. she was such an incredible guitarist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , an incredible guitarist. an absolutely amazing person and singer and guitarist. nancy wilson and jan kuehnemund. among other female guitarists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! absolutely incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even though this is totally off the topic of Jan, my band hung with the girls at the Vic theatre in Chicago back in 1989. Great time and Jan was a complete professional. Even though I have been in the presence of some high profile musicians, I was actually taken back by Share (Ross)Pedersen. Man, I could barely speak in her presence. Something about her made me crazy. Never could figure it out.
I saw Vixen supporting Deep Purple on the Slaves and Masters tour. They were well received, but it was obvious that the audience for both bands was declining at that point.
My brother went on date with lead singer guitarist from vixen.(Random, they ended up partying somehow) Vixen played in Fresno back 1985, 86? Nobody knew vixen. My brother could tell she wasn't from fresrag'. She talked about her band vixen. He didn't think much about until seeing Her video on MTV. Band vixen.. Figures because we in Whitelace at that time. NO bands in fresrag looked like Whitelace back then. I don't think he went to the show. (ole town saloon, spaghetti factory) bands playing that night. He said went out some.chix from LA, nice car. I just now realize this happend years before vixens video came out on MTV. .Because by the time vixens video came out 87. The hype she told my brother was gone..No longer success. Management waited to long. We talked about her I remember . Messed up because he thought she was someone good
They didn´t tour in late 1990 because of a worldwide shortage of aqua-net, due to a mysterious explosion of the headquarters in Seattle during the rise of grunge.
None in the 70s? Hello, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell, Tina Turner, Donna Summer, Patty Smith, Anna and Agatha in ABBA, Deborah Harry, Diana Ross, Chaka Khan, Anne Murray, Helen Reddy, Dolly Parton, Tanya Tucker, Olivia Newton-John, Kiki Dee, Ann and Nancy Wilson, Marianne Faithfull, The Runaways, and Suzi Quatro. Need I say more?
Always looked like the pictures were proto-Photoshopped.... Still got the record somewhere, liked it then, today it sounds rather "thin", only one or two so/so records that could have been potential hits. Not the quality level of Heart for example. And all female bands were not completely new; think Runaways.
They are souls that gave their souls to the head of the toad and thus have a lot of fame, if they repent from the heart and give their lives to GOD, the head of the toad will not take them away ok A savior has been born and his kingdom will have no END hello mumis 😊☺🙂😉😚😁🖐
No children or husband from her obituary. There is nothing concerning her private life I could find on the net which I found very strange. She must of been a very private person perhaps which I can totally understand also 🙂
I knew Jan most of my life. My sister was in the original Vixen band with Jan. She was an amazing talent, beautiful and a nice person. Miss her always.❤
Oh wow how lucky you are to have known her ❤ She seemed like a lovely person 🥰
Do you know what became of her belongings/guitars? Curious

Their first albums sucked. They were overproduced. But watch an old live in concert video and it’s a different story. They rocked live.

Shame not a peep was mentioned at the time she passed. That band was trailblazing for the era.

She deserved better considering there's genuine high profiled musicians that are total jerks and will never change a bit.

Always an exception to the rule. And besides those who else. Just kidding.
Were talking an all female band Einstein!🤔
That was not the reference. He stated there were no female rock role models in the 70s not no all female 70s bands. The other guys comment is valid
