I don't think golfers need the help of a psychologist. If youtubers like golfsidekick and notascratch golfer can figure it out a pro like Rick should be able to as well. Each golf shot is a new chance to hit your best shot ever. The shot you messed up is a past moment in time, nothing you can do about it now.

Watching someone with your skills play bad isn’t funny as much as a reminder to enjoy golf, because we will all hit bad shots.

Lesson for the video: Temper your expectations. This goes for the overall score and the yardages with the clubs. If you know that you hit that yardage with a PERFECT strike as HARD as you can hit it... just take another club and hit it comfortably. Always know whether front or back has the danger and play to that. When you aren't amazing (pro level), all you can do is play to your faults. So temper those expectations and strive to be better. We are all fallible humans.

Rick, Break 75 is ruining your golf game at times. You pile a shed load of pressure on yourself from the get go and it’s so hard to watch you capitulate. You’re a top golfer, a little more confidence in your own game wouldn’t go a miss at the moment. You’re putting the hours in, you’re grafting, just go with the flow and ease up on setting yourself a set figure target.
A double on the 1st isn’t the end of the world, but in your head you’re already thinking “I can’t drop any more shots”.
Go easy on yourself, enjoy your surroundings and enjoy the game without thinking to hard about it.

He wanted to have 100 yds left so he was asking his 5 iron to go 210. It went 175. He hit a pitching wedge from 135 also a club short. There’s a big difference between simulator yardage and actual yardage.

So many options out there - I bought a mate a golf psychology e-book for christmas once, he was stuck on +5 handicap and hadnt budged for years. Read this book, practised what it said and was down to scratch within 12 months - Once that ball has left your club face there is nothing you can do - forget it - Start thinking positive thoughts about the next shot!

Most recreational golfers have no idea how many reps it actually takes to build the muscle memory needed to hit perfect shots every time. Even with much practice, unusual course conditions or difficult lies can still result in errant shots. Some of the best touring pros hit bad shots occasionally.

On the golf - when I find myself not scoring well I tell myself I have two choices. I can finish within score and no swing, or leave the course with no score but a swing that I can build on next time out. Take an extra club and focus on balance and rhythm. Keep working those lessons Rick - quieten the hands and you're not far off.

I'm 62, played golf for quite a while and still struggle to break 100 but I enjoy the day out. A few years back I wasn't enjoying it at all. I was huffing and moaning like Rick and realised I was making the round miserable for my playing partner so I went for lessons. Like a lot of people i'm sure, in the studio i'm a completely different golfer which just confirms what we all know, golf is as much mental as physical. The coach got me to keep a simple diary and pick out one positive from each hole. It didn't improve my golf dramatically but it made a world of difference to my attitude and enjoyment and I'm sure my playing partner was grateful 😂

He didn't start the round over, and start filming again so he can make it seem like he's a great golfer. That's what makes me continue being a subscriber and continue watching his content.

Rick could quite easily edit this stuff out, but relatable content with ups and downs is alot better than a Mr Beast video. Wanting "only good vibes" you quickly become like fans of Man City/PSG and you're favourite movie is The Avengers😂

It’s not the bad play it’s the constant sighing and negative self talk. I don’t mind watching bad golf shots, it’s relatable. I wouldn’t even mind to see Rick get angry and express feeling lost in his golf game. We are fans of his and are here no matter how he plays it’s just the way he’s carried himself the last few videos that make it hard to watch. Loudly sighing and calling yourself an idiot repeatedly while playing beautiful courses is just off-putting. Bad play happens just move on and try to improve.

I’ve never shot under par at this course, and I definitely don’t expect to tomorrow, in winter-like conditions. However… You’ve given me some inspiration, Rick, to fight for every shot, no matter how things are going. I truly appreciate the realism, and honesty of posting a below average round. I agree but I don't think Rick is unaware how lucky he is, i think he maybe suffers from a bit of imposter syndrome feeling like he needs to be playing at an elite level all the time because he's the most popular golf RUclipsr and one of the most famous people in the game at the moment. Golf is hard enough without having to think about how hundreds of thousands of people will be watching every swing you make. Even the luckiest people in the world go through tough times mentally.

    “Don’t know what’s happening today”,
“Been playing well up to today”, can’t understand what’s going wrong today ”, “can’t see a straight ball today”.
How tedious!!! Like listening to every average club golfer in the country make excuses after every game.

Maybe it’s because your style and technique are not particularly nice and the only consistently impressive thing about your game is your putting.
