On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

Only about 1 hour from me as well, been wanting to play there for a while, Bamburgh castle is also on the list.
I agree 100% it would be a good series, kinda put it into perspective Rick saying he barely pays for a green fee, most courses you see on RUclips are not feasible for the average weekend golfer who is paying full price

A mini "budget break 75" series would be amazing!
Played it 4 times and the overwhelming feeling I remember about this course is not regarding how well we played. But sat in the clubhouse with a pint of Guiness and noticed how much all of our group were smiling with satisfaction at how much we all enjoyed this gem of a course .Will be back next year at somepoint ❤
Agree one of my favourite courses along with Bamburgh
2 things:
1. Everyone should have a hype man like Guy to follow you around.
2. Please come back and play this course again in the summer.
It is - I've played it lots of times, often in the winter and it's never been wetter than this video showed. And it always makes you feel glad to be alive. You'll never regret playing Dunstanburgh Castle :) @@alicalder7025

Great video.
If I'm not mistaken, the cost of that course is about $32 (converting). The course by me that costs that much is a 9 hole municipal course where the "rough" is a hard patch of sand, and the greens filled with so many unfixed marks that you might as well be putting on Swiss cheese. That course is absolutely gorgeous!!! If there was something like that by where I live, I'd be there everyday
Same here man. Although my local club is 30 bucks and it's in pretty good condition, it's still not even close to this.

This course in in the very north of England where things do tend to be a little lower cost compared to the south. I live south of London and my course is roughly $55 to play on a weekend as a visitor and around $45 as a members guest. Golf in the US is more expensive compared to the UK.
This course, however, looks stunning for the value even by our standards and could easily be more money. It’s great they’re not charging huge money. They’ll benefit in the long run.
Theres extra value here is also the lack of crowding. Drove past our local ocean course yesterday (spessard Holland, mel beach FL), which is similar price, due to county park lands. It was 82F, and 3 groups on each hole with 2 carts each group - crazy packed and very tight. So, this video is a type of good fantasy, assuming can stay warm. I like the challenge of those natural obstacles. Thank you for sharing such a cool experience.
Come to Scotland. Literally dozens of local courses in the ukp20-40 bracket at least as good as this great course.
Genuinely one of the most surprisingly enjoyable videos you've put out there because it's relatable.

That intro driving to the course, and the story about it, made this Break 75 my favourite of all the episodes so far. Rick, your camera and editing teams did wonders here. And the golf wasn’t too shabby either!

I finally broke 100 on my home course. I love it. It's a budget course and very forgiving, with wide fairways. I just want to know how you both were making such great shots, and out of such tough lies!
Played this in June weather was glorious no wind at all, booked through golf now for 15 pounds. Absolute awesome course. Loads of hidden gems in Northumberland

Incredible golf course. The ruined towers and the remains of the curtain wall of the castle are stunning. Playing it wet (read flooded) the way you two did was stirling also.
It turns out that this castle had quite an exciting history, changing several hands times during the War of the Roses, and brought to ruin by the many sieges it suffered in the late 15th century. By Elizabethan times, it was a century old ruin and was a popular subject for artists of the 16th century and later. One of the owners was John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster, son of King Henry III, younger brother of Edward of Woodstock called the Black Prince and father to King Henry IV.
Love how it started out light hearted and ending up being seriously a good golf session. The videos with you and guy are to notch!
Absolutely Love this course. Coming from Sweden driving from Newcastle the coast up north this was our first stop. So it’s so nice to dream back with your help❤
What a brilliant course, and to be able to show up, play, and be fed and watered any day of the week for about 60 bucks is unreal. Absolutely NEED to see this course in the summer when the conditions are better.
I played Dunstanburgh before Covid on a trip to Northumberland (great courses everywhere on that coast) but this is the one I have always wanted to come back to. Fantastic value for money, and a really friendly clubhouse. The course was actually updated by James Braid in the 1920s, and it's pedigree is there for all to see. Stand out holes for me were the 6th (because of the drive off the top of the hill), the 13th for obvious reasons, but the three closing holes are tight, well bunkered the the 17th is a particularly small, narrow thing. They make a great end to a round. Having said that there is not a bad hole on the course, and the views are spectacular. I OB'ed the third trying to cut the corner so thanks, Rick, I don't feel such a numpty! I hope this gives the new owner the exposure the club deserves but please don't put the prices up to what they should be until I've played you again!
The 5th hole is probably the craziest hole played in the history of the channel, how the hell Ricks shot stayed out i'll never know, then guys chip in - priceless

That course is stunning! I have a couple of nice “secret/budget” courses like this in AZ and I’ll never tell! 🤫

There is a really nice angle to this video. As great as it is to watch you play all the amazing courses, playing at these places and giving everyday folk a nice list of potential realistic courses will appeal to so many people. Love Dunstanburgh and the Northumberland coast.
I played this course with my dad in the early 90s on a family holiday. I remember loving it and birdieing the 13th in front of the castle. Will have to play there again some day. Cheers and well played lads.

Played this 6 years ago and absolutely loved it. It was in May and the heather was blooming. Sunny day. A real dream. Was there with my dad and brother for my dads 60th birthday. We had an all-day-greenfee including breakfast und lunch for 40 Pounds. Value for money is unparalleled…

So many courses I see watching you, Pete, the average golfer, and golfmates are incredible. Some just slightly pricey for my situation with kids, bills, etc. But not outrageous some tons of great courses here stateside. You guys have some crazy good courses over there that would be a bargain here. In my opinion atleast. And just scenic wise, wow. But this course exemplifies that times, well times 5 I'd say. Very jealous. Appreciate them. I only get to play a great course every few years. Me and my brother took my dad to one late this summer. And being not so great ( very high handicaps), we were on the 6th hole shooting well over par, struggling, and not in the best of moods. When on the next tee, my dad said, stop, look at this hole, my god it's beautiful. And it was. Changed the whole mood of the round. And I honestly think we shot better the rest of the round by just stopping a bit between shots and admiring the course. It was a great time with my bro, and dad. Sorry about the long boring story, but just watching this video and taking in the courses beauty reminded me of that. Thanks.
Love the views on the course. Nice to see Guy again too. Both of you played well and seemed to have fun. Keep bringing great content and showing the true ups and downs that make golf the great sport it is.
Played there on the way home from a St Andrews golf holiday once. It's a brilliant course and I think we paid 18 quid for a round at the time. So it was literally a quid a hole and the views are amazing and frankly it's in a pretty damn good condition. The club house is "basic" but it's decent. It's just down the road from Goswick which is also an AMAZING golf course (and the scene of my first ever hole in one on the 2nd!) but Goswick is a LOT more expensive... You're not far from Bamburgh Castle either and that's a cracking course too!
Should've driven an hour north and checked out Eyemouth. I played there this summer and it was very similar asthetically and also had an amazing par 3 over a giant canyon. Definitely recommend!
Couldn’t agree more, Eyemouth is another gem and the par 3 you mention was listed as one of the top ten holes in the uk by one of the golf magazines if memory serves me right. Can’t remember the hole number but there was a really long par 5 coming back towards the clubhouse with the sea to your right too.
@@marks7716 Yea, the eagles nest on the back. I think from the tips it's over 600 yards but is downhill so you drive it like 50-75 yards further than you normally would. Was a great diamond in the rough.

My wife was born and raised in Coldingham and her family still farm up there but whenever we visit it’s only brief and I can’t make an excuse to take the clubs with me and sneak off for a round. Wow. What a local gem of a course. The shot of the ocean behind Rick on the tee box at No. 11 was really something (31:52). Hole after hole was picturesque.

One complaint; if there’s one thing that irritates the crap out of me, is when people dig their ball out of the cup with their putter. Come on Rick! Just reach down and take it out with your hand.
Looks like Rick only did that when the hole was full of water - sensible to keep hand dry in that weather!

Loved Goswick, was blowing a tad but was still gorgeous. Tee boxes were better than some greens I've putted on

They actually more or less doubled the price at Goswick as American tourists wouldn’t go there because they didn’t think it would be any good because it wasn’t expensive enough.
I really enjoyed that this video was less about the technical details of every shot and more about the place and the day. Looks like a wonderful place to play golf. In the truest sense of the word "play".
Played this course many times when I was a Junior back in the late 70's and early 80's. On a sunny day there is no better place to be. I moved abroad many years ago now and still miss this place. Go back in the Summer and place this, Bamburgh and Goswick, all on the same coast line with dramatic views!

Playing this course in Spring with my 50 year long friendship pal.. we live several hundred miles away from each other so it's a rare treat. He knows it well, will be my first time. Just hope we can get a tee time after this amazing vlog ups its popularity!

Played here ages ago. Still a very fond memory as it was the first course in the UK that I ever played! It was in april/may so the gorse was in full bloom. We booked from The Netherlands with Northumberland Golf Tours and played some more courses in the area. Great fun!

Full marks to the chap and his partner who bought the course. Not an easy thing to make work but, so pleased that someone had the endeavour to graft all hours to make this amazing place have a long future.

Really amazing value for money - interesting holes, stunning scenery. Of course the weather can be anything at any time. Both of you played really well - some great chips-in and clutch putts.
Used to have a winter membership here as a kid. Green always in great condition, amazing views, lovely little clubhouse. Proper links course
Now that's a real links golf course. With the terrain and the elements to change its nature day by day . And so picturesque, with the seascape and the castle in the background.

Northumberland have plenty of gorgeous budget golf courses but my favourite is Rothbury golf club. It’s about £15 midweek but this time of year the back 9 is sometimes under water. Mint in the summer though.
I was a member here for 6 months whilst i worked down that way and it was by far the best course i have been a member of. Coming back down next spring with my mates to play Dunstanburgh, Almouth, Goswick and Foxton although I might chin Foxton off to play Bamburgh again. Some outstanding courses in the NE.
Hidden Gem!! Some of those views and holes are unreal. Playing through the conditions like Champs. Live it.

Not only a great course but also (in the summer ) the best beach in Northumberland.
Albeit an incredible golf shot- Shiels trying to wink but blinking instead at 14:47 is pure class. Then Charizard chips it in- this is why I watch.
This place was in Game of Thrones! I love how Rick appreciates the beauty and playing by the sea. I love playing along the ocean! Rick and Guy both played great especially given the poor weather.
The ambient music was a great touch on this episode, got you in the mood on certain holes.
I love the magic of the drone sitting on the 13th green and then a gentle movement of the camera and it disappears! Golf and magic combined on a breathtaking course❤

A fantastic course that I've played many times. The views are unrivalled. Great to see Rick venturing to Northumberland to see these beautiful courses.
Have to disagree- Bamburgh Castle Golf Club just up the road definitely rivals the views. You can see this castle, Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle
I love this concept. Playing courses that anyone can access at an affordable rate. Would love to see more. It would help people booking trips to the UK to sprinkle in some budget friendly hidden gems to their itinerary
Played this course earlier in year when in the area on a family holiday, weather was much better! A great wee course and offers good golf at great value - have recommended to others.

Have to say one of your best and not often I get thru a full game. The setting was wonderful and I wish I had played more golf when overseas, this course would have been on the bucket list.
Simply put, what you and Guy did on the 5th is what makes golf the greatest sport!! You just never know what’s gonna happen!! Awesome fellas!!!
Great course. Played it in September for £25 on twilight. Beautiful sunny day. Yes they do get them. Greens are fantastic. Very welcoming staff. Superb experience.
