    I too tried this technique and it does work. Be prepared to feel soreness after the first few times. Soreness on your skin. Soreness on your muscles. Also, since your organs are never 100% always the same, you may feel nauseous and a weird feeling of pressure in your stomach\throat. You may even feel scared or anxious. Stick with it.
    Don't be discouraged either. It may take a while for it to work. It depends on the individual. It took me two weeks but it may take you months. You also need to watch what you eat/drink so that you're not aggravating the hernia. And squat to pick things up. Avoid putting ANY pressure on your mid section as this may cause negative effects.
    By the way, I am NOT a doctor. I'm merely giving you my experience and suggestions that helped me.

      Man, exactly thats what happened to me too, nauseous, i made panic attack like i couldnt breathe good anymore. The thing is that I think i did the method wrong, like I did it lower than normal too. I thought the problem was from the food, I felt weird at the throat too....

    This has helped me as an athlete. I had to give up tennis from HH. And then it got worse, after inflammation the area weakened even more... (sudden chest pains while trying to sleep after food (after eating - after workouts especially), shortness of breath for me, heavy eating causing disturbing cardiac like pains in bed... etc... but now the second day into this maneuver and this is the first time i worked out with minimal symptoms, and also no symptoms after eating after workout at night.

  • @haygrif
    @haygrif 8 лет назад +26

    I was really skeptical of this at first, but I'd been suffering from what my doctor thought might be a hiatal hernia for over a week and was getting pretty desperate. My symptoms included really painful gas and tachycardia immediately after eating and a generally high heart rate 24/7. I was waking up in the middle of the night with heart palpitations and stomach/chest pains. I did this for a few minutes and suddenly started burping a bunch and my heart rate went back to normal--I've felt normal ever since, can't believe it! I'd always suggest seeing a doctor (esp. for heart palpitations) to be safe, but I'm so thankful to have found this.

    • @garjo8970
      @garjo8970 8 лет назад +2

      I have the exact same symptoms as you and went to the doctor. The doctor said my heart was fine(she said heart palpitations are normal). Then gave me some numbing anti-acid white liquid. The pain right below my sternum went away and i could breathe comfortably, so she assumed it was just to much acid and gave me an anti acid prescription. The anti acid pill didn't help. I just did what the video said and i started burping but pain is still there, so i will continue to do it for the next couple of days and see what happens. Can you tell me how hard you pressed on your stomach (i know the pressure it will be different for everyone). Also can you update me on how you are doing now, like were you able to eat the same things as before the hiatal hernia. This really sucks i can't eat anything with out being in pain.

      I didn't have those symptoms. I did the exercises to try to eliminate GERD. It did not eliminate GERD entirely but helped. I have also had a test that measures the recovery of acid in the stomach. That test showed a weak recovery. I am looking into remedy that as well. I have to eliminate one issue at a time.

      44JesusIsLord44. I still do it for good measure a couple times a week. I'd say when I saw this video I would do it once a day in the shower because of the water lubrication making it easier. it took a couple days for me to realize this really works. I am in my second month of prilosec treatment and this adjustment and fingers crossed I am on the back end of recovering. The sticking thing my doc told me was this takes time... sometimes 3 to 4 months since it's internal healing.

      44JesusIsLord44 ... you have to push really deep and down to the left... I could almost feel it move. I'd take a deep breath and exhale. u can also get some help while laying flat on your back... there are other vids on that.... and finally... yes Jesus is Lord.

    My own chiropractor did this with me. He also had me exhale completely first, so that the diaphram is up higher (because it raises up to push out the air in your lung). This makes it easier to push the hernia back down through.

    I just tried this ( yesterday) and something definitely happened. The small lump between my breastbone went away. There's a sense of pressure relief ( and I started expelling a bit of pent up gas which made me feel even better.) I do concur with another who reported soreness and even "feeling weird". I was achy in my butt and legs and restless when going to bed. Odd dreams and constant waking up from them. A disruptive first night but I'll wait a day as the Dr. recommends before next attempt. Hello, I have this problem. I read a post on here about abdominal exercises. My acid reflux is made worse by this as well. This is the second time within a year I have had problems after doing a stretching routine. I am very flexible and tend to bend too far through the middle causing my stomach to push up through my diaphragm. My only relief is through manual manipulation like you describe. I will do this per your instructions and hopefully not have to go for tests or worse, drink a gallon of water and jump off a step. Ugh.

Also when i try to take a deep breath i feel tension in my stomach. I also occasionally get acid reflux. Last week i was ill and threw up but afterwards i felt great for the next few days - no bloating of difficulty taking a deep breath. Hello good sir, I would like to ask for some advices if you could help me, please. I have a small sliding hiatal hernia. I am 26 years old and I am desperate because doctors here don't want to help me and only give me antacids and to make operation, in the end. The main factors that caused it were: stress that produced gastritis (GERD), from what I also read, stress can cause unusual stomach movements that contributes to hiatal hernia and maybe weak muscles or I was born with a larger hiatus. Gastritis irritated the upper part of the stomach. I was coughing a lot over the years (4-5 years) because no doctor told me that the problem was from the stomach. Chronic coughing made the hiatal hernia larger. Symptoms: reflux gave me a chronic rhinitis (my nose was leaking almost every day), stinging at the throat especially in the morning, cough, hoarseness, chestburn when I laugh hard after eating. It seems that with the diet I corrected most of these but I am still scared about the future. Here are my questions that I hope would help others in need:
    1. Is it possible to make the diaphragm muscle (hiatus) stronger with sport or with any other therapy that won't allow the stomach to pass into the esophagus? Will this self-massage make the diaphragm stronger too?
    2. If there would be a small reflux (controlled with diet), would it ever affect, in time, the esophagus and transform it in the Barrett's Esophagus? When I say small reflux I compare it maybe with the one that all people have it when they eat too much but that reaches the esophagus only and not the mouth.
    4. Can the Barrett's Esophagus be made without hiatal hernia?
    5. Is it possible to heal GERD with strict diet from 1 to more years, without antacids?
    6. What are the chances to get pneumonia from GERD?

    Doctor said I may have a haital hernia and to see my PCP. The one thing I've noticed is it's causing a lot of breathing problems, especially laying down. I feel shortness of breath doing the simplest of things. Does anyone else have breathing trouble from the hiatal hernia?

      TOTALLY! I thought I knew how to breathe until I learned from a physical therapist that the technique for breathing is really a spectrum with stomach/Diaphragm on one end and chest breathing on the other. Diaphragm/stomach breathing is the optimal technique as the diaphragm muscle is in constant use, doing what it was supposed to do, ascend/descend your lungs by contracting/releasing, creating negative pressure in your lungs, "pulling" air into the deepest areas of your lungs. A weak Diaphragm has been correlated with Hiatal hernias, with a weak diaphragm surrounding the herniated stomach. I lifted, worked construction and pushed my body to all manners of extreme while not really engaging my diaphragm (which also makes the ceiling of your abdominal muscles, and your pelvic floor, being, well your floor) but rather Chest breathing. Chest Breathing is like your backup system and is easily noticed after exercising or panicking: using your pectoral muscles, upper back muscles and neck muscles (main culprits being scalenes and sternocleidomastoid). Chest breathing, while lifting, can cause stiffness/pain and long term lack of mobility due to muscles doing two jobs: keeping you breathing and helping you lift that thing. I am currently trying to regain my diaphragm strength using controlled breathing exercises, planks and relearning how my core interacts with my breathe, rhythm of walking and how my center of gravity causes me to hunch over or relax my core to the point i am forced to chest breathe. I am still deep in my journey of trying to understand how to get out of this naturally as I still live with my the pain related to In-genial Hernia surgery. But Chest breathing is a thing, compared to the natural diaghragm breathing and the lack of knowledge of this distinction is where I started my search because the drs/Pts who tell me the only option for Hiatal hernia is surgery are also saying theres no real importance in knowing how to breathe, we just do it; while the Drs/Pts (a short list) who do recognize the importance of proper breathing technique also take my concerns of my hiatal hernia being treated non-invasively seriously. I wish you the best of luck, and I cant help but wonder if this is part of the new frontier of modern medicine...or rediscovering the power of yoga techniques....

      I was diagnosed with A-Fib a couple years ago & have been on two meds for it. Also had upper Gi with diagnosis of Hiatal hernia. I found a web page from Dr. Carolyn Dean , an MD with a background in nutrition. She wrote a book about reminerlizing your heart. Most people who end up with A-fib have a magnesium defiency and most heart doctors either don't know about it or just don't tell you. ($). Lack of physician training in nutrition. One of the meds they put me on, Metropolol actually takes magesium from your body therefore making your heart problems worse. Check her out . Shes not a quack.

I'm merely giving you my experience and suggestions that helped me

    • @anasabidi6055
      @anasabidi6055 10 лет назад +1

      bobsagetlovesu What do u mean by "don't put any pressure on the mid- sections" (do u mean the soft part under the breastbone?). So as the doctor said apply pressure one inch below the breastbone i.e. below the soft tissue part, did I understand right?

    • @hnar479
      @hnar479 8 лет назад +8

      I wonder if the anxiety comes up because the esophagus is closely connected with the vagus nerve which controls the tone & strength of the lower esophageal sphincter as well as peristalsis. The vagus nerve is also closely connected to anxiety, although usually it relieves it. But perhaps some mechanism of this manipulation causes anxiety & then as the stomach settles back into place the vagus nerve can then kick in & relieve that anxiety.
      I have personally found relief from reflux by taking a breath & holding it, or by humming a low tone, both which stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system through the vagus nerve.

      That don't work then eventually years go by and all the mess have had side effects and other problems
      Arise .
      I'd discusting how doctors don't care about patients . Just about putting more money in there pocket .
      I've been suffering so much with my upper abdomen so big as if there's a massive lump in there
      For 3years had also can't breath .
      I've been told I'm fat that that reason .

      They don't care , I would love to find a solution to this problem once and for all .
      Can any one help please I've spent all my money on doctors .
      And can't seem to get no we're ... I want to know this lump in my upper abdomen
      I do have a heatal hernia . But doctors are shrugging it off . 😒😷😢😢😢😢😢😢😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😬😬😬😬
