Spellbreak Beginner's Guide in 4 Minutes - The Basics, Tips, Tricks

- Spellbreak has just released to the public as a free to play title with crossplay. It's a Battle Royale in 3rd person where witches and wizards land into a map and collect gauntlets of various spell elements like Fire, Ice, or Lightning.

Coming from Protelariat, who worked on streaming focused titles like Stream Legends and Streamline, it is a project that has been in development for a few years. In today's video we will cover all the basics you will need to get started in Spellbreak.
First let's cover the unique selling point of Spellbreak: the spell gauntlets. At the making of this video there are 6 available gauntlets. Earth, Toxic, Lightning, Air, Ice, and Fire. They have fancier names than this but I'll use the colloquial names to keep it simple. Each gauntlet comes with two spells: a primary attack and an ability. Since gauntlets fit on your hand, and you have two hands, you are able to equip two gauntlets at once. I know, try to contain your shock and surprise.
However, you must pick your primary gauntlet before entering the match. This will be in your main hand and cannot be changed during a match but you will land with it equipped. Your main hand gauntlet is also your class and allows you to specialize in that element. Leveling up in the match unlocks new bonuses for that element like your Ice Lance leaving ice trails that you can skate on. Or your Toxic Clouds granting you invisibility when you enter them.
Once in the match, you will pickup any of the other 5 gauntlets you didn't choose to be your off hand weapon. And here's where it gets cool. Mixing elemental effects together has dozens of unique interractions. Placing an Air tornado on the ground and filling it with fire makes a fire tornado. The aforementioned ice trails can be electrocuted with the Lightning gauntlet to shock enemies. But I'll leave the extent of this for another video.
Using your primary attack from a gauntlet will drain your Mana. Hold jump to hover which will also drain Mana. If your Mana reaches 0 it will overheat and force a recharge to full.
Your element specialization will grow in strength during the match as you level, and currently leveling is crazy simple. Each time you enter the safe zone, or the white circle, you will level up. You will see a yellow barrier in the game world that signifies your level. So you'll level naturally as you chase the safe zone during a match. You'll find movement abilities as loot, and you can swap these as you choose. They each have their uses and can be powerful in the right situation so be creative.
Health potions and Shield potions will drop as loot and these will keep both bars full. Amulets increase your maximum Mana pool. Belts increase your maximum Armor. And Boots increase your base movement speed. All good things. Legendary chests with the best gear are marked on your map. Talents are selected before the match adn start with a flat value. You will find scrolls in the world that level up each category of Talent: Mind, Body, and Spirit. If you die, you will be put into a downed state that looks like a wisp. Teammates can revive you by walking up to you and channeling, and Enemy players can walk up to you and execute you. Once executed there is currently no coming back.
Lastly, choosing a drop at the start of a match is predetermined so be sure to coordinate with your teammates before the timer ends.

I feel spell break could be really interesting if it had another non battle royale gamemode maybe some form of 3 v 3 one life death match which highlighted teamwork and skill
Dam that would be so dope they should have went in that direction instead of battle royale it would have been dope
I've heard that they might do a 9v9 mode but that's all I have heard so far. This is good news because it shows they are open-minded and not fixed on Spellbreak being solely a Battle Royale game.

The thing is there's already a game like that called Battlerite that is free on Steam. A 3v3 arena with champions having different sets of magical abilities and different sets of rune page/card that you customize to enhance each spells effects before matches.
Yeah i agree, the combat and spell elements of the game is wasted in a solely battle royale game. A tournament mode or just a death match mode would be so much more fun.
Can we appreciate how amazing the graphics are? I wish the map was more destructible but just moving around so smoothly feels amazing too.

@@Meonium its okay if you use your wind sheer on the boulder it just makes it faster I think using fire X earth is generally better than most of the combos with earth

This game has the potential to be so amazing, whether it reaches the level of Fortnite - which it sadly probably won't - but regardless is still going to be amazing if done right. The last time I was this excited for a battle royale was Gigantic, and I pray that this one doesn't end in the same way.

I'm loving it! Feels like RPG battles but they kept it simple and didn't try to do too much! Already invested quite a few hours. Right now the stone gauntlet is my go to
I like stone for the boulder throw and ice is great for getting around fast

I followed all these steps got on the game and dominated I do recommend using the lightning and wind gauntlets use wind make a tornado and then hit them with lightning (stuns other players)and then hit the tornado itself and create a lightnado

When I saw adverts for this game I thought it was really cool, it still looks really cool but I’m disappointed that it’s a battle royal... maybe if they add a story mode I’ll actually play it... but I might pick it up anyway because it’s free and I can give it a go, I hope they add story mode

some please help me :< i am stuck on the second tutorial island. i've seen other people play the tutorial, but it fucks up for me. i walk to the first place she tells me to walk to (the cliff edge), but nothing happens. i even cross to the other side, but the second area that is meant to be glowing blue just isn't glowing at all. the tutorial telling me how to levitate also doesn't pop up, so i literally can't complete the island. please help me!! i play on pc, if that helps.
it did the exact same thing for me, I can't remember if I restarted the game or if I killed myself or what but it fixed it. Im pretty sure I ran off the edge of the map and then it she appeared when I respawned

Looks like a great game but i cant help but think that the spell casting mechanic is wasted in the battle royal system if they can add maybe another mode like a 6 v 6 mode with some kind of objective-based combat or maybe an mmo-rpg sort of element would also be a cool take

Their most recent update completely broke the game for PlayStation trying to play the game and every time I try to use a potion my character now jumps instead they turned overcast on so now when you press one button it automatically does another the tutorials telling me to press a to consume a potion but instead my character just keeps jumping

I know this comment is a couple days old, but if you’re still stuck all you have to do is hit the pause button and you should be able to exit to the main lobby that way.
Installed and started playing last night, was so disappointed when I realised it was another battle royale game haha

I literally got into as a solo and had a 5 kill game on my FIRST EVER match and later probably after 15 minutes I got the same amount of kills and won a game lol
