►WHAT IS SAKUGA? // WHAT IS A SAKUGA MAD
Sakuga (作画) literally means drawing in Japanese. But Sakuga also means "artistically impressive animation".
MAD stands for Music Anime Douga (Douga means video in Japanese). It's the same as an AMV. Sakuga MADs are compilations of great animation made to collect, celebrate and appreciate the work of animators.

Well, that depends on the perspective.
I saw how they prepared those foods and most of these don't contain as many calories. Besides, I was watching how he's going to make those foods go, not how I could eat them.

That Isle of Dogs scene will never not blow me away. They animated that with stop-motion. Stop motion. I don’t think i’ll ever be that talented. (5:43)

These days they can basically recreate stop motion in CG. The hard part about that is just trying to recreate the jankiness of stop motion animation since stop motion is never perfect.
It's the fact that the last cut goes from Paprika giving the most arousing bite to a hamburger and suddenly Peter just devouring his, perfect.

食い物を美麗に描き出すことは、間違いなく美味そうに見える一つの手法なんだろうけど、ジブリ飯を観てるとそれが唯一の道ではないと分かる。多少写実性から離れることになっても、その食べ物の美味さを絵で表現しようっていう精神が凄い。
料理そのものだけでなく、食べてるキャラの喰いっぷりの表現も重要だと思う。ルパンと次元が取り合ってたパスタなんて絵としてみれば決して写実的でも美麗でもないのにすげぇ美味そうに見えるし、ドラゴンボールに至ってはあの悟空が喰ってる時の音、絶対に飯食う時に出る音じゃないのに聞いてるとハラ減ってくるしｗ
