You'd be surprised. Pretty much the majority of stars/wrestlers during the Attitude Era were all popping pills and what not at that time. Hard to really drop it, but it's much less common now with this current wrestling roster.
jigyoda Hell yeah it does. It's embarrassing. People look at you different and think you're a bad person. It's negative. It's shameful. It takes guts to do that.
I remember yelling at Mr. Ass at a show in Davis Ca. I to,d him you suck! He runs up to me at the rail, I was like shit! He says, yeah I suck.. I sucked the money right out of you pocket! I was like, shiiiit.. I have no come back 😂😂😂😂
Jamar Rippy Not only did they enjoy wrestling together, they also enjoyed alcohol and drugs. Sometimes it's good for a couple to have more than one thing in common.😉
We have lost so many wrestlers I grew up with to drugs and health issues over the past 20yrs. I'm glad that Road Dogg and Billy Gunn are doing good. God bless them 🙏🏾
What a great honest offering Road Dogg gives us here. I love the fact that he says"Yeah, it was me that screwed it up". -And like Billy says, it's a lot easier to blame everyone else and everything else for your problems and downfalls, but these guys are stepping up here and taking it on the chin. I applaud that and it's as admirable as it gets. I hope these two continue to stay clean and focused and find success again.
Drugs or no drugs these guys were my childhood heroes. We didn't know what was going on until he was let go at one point. Whatever was working for him at the time, they were an unreal team! If he was sent to rehab multiple times, the WWE obviously had high hopes for him. Glad to hear he's sober and amazing today.
Anon iJaeson Fuck the Hardy boyz they had a handful of flashy moves but other than that they were garbage, if they didn't have edge and christian and the dudleys around to make them look good back in the day they wouldn't be considered as legendary as ppl think they are,
Ghouse666 Flashy moves can also be described as "talent". Talent is what fans and the business use to determine the greats(except in Hulk Hogan's case.)
***** Hardy Boys are awesome. Love Bret Hart but for some reason didnt like Jim Neidhart. I think he had a gimmick that didnt fit him at all. He looked like a biker or some shit yet he had on the same ring attire that Bret did which didnt fit him at all in my opinion
I love how honest they are. Too many of these shoot interviews are grown men gossiping about each other. It's nice to see some guys taking responsibility for once.
Loved these guys during the attitude era. I was disappointed they didn’t go so much more than they deserve. I hope these guys can turn tag team wrestling around today..it sucks. I think it’s cool these guys woke up and accepted their failures and not blaming others for their drug issues I think that’s really grown up and mature of them. Glad they turned things around.
he was caught using steroids in a weight lifting competition during the summer...and it took wwe like 5 months to fire him for it...why? i don't know..
Shawn was best on the mic while on drugs, Road Dogg was great on the mic while on drugs. The moral? Great promos are snorted in and come out on the mic.
I remember being a kid, probably about 8-10, watching wrestling with my dad never did I care much about tag team matches never really any teams I was all that crazy for.. there were some exceptions headliners being paired up, special occasions Etc. But when the new age outlaws came out I was blown away and they were my favorite tag team. Nobody put on a show like these guys they were talented on multiple levels and obviously fed off each other amazingly. There’ll never be another era like the attitude era and there’ll never be another tag team like the new age outlaws.

Great attitude by Road Dogg. Nice to see guys willing to help guys up the ladder from the independent circuit. There are those that get to come out to those shows that will never get to a WWE show.
I met road dogg in Pensacola when I was working as a bouncer. Parted with him. He was pretty intense. I thought then that he would wind up dead from drugs, but I am glad to see he is still around and a lot wiser from the experience.
look up the word "over" in the wrestling dictionary and you would see a pic of these two. They should have no regrets, they were at the top of their game when wrestling was at it's peak, wrestling is finished now, will never reach those days again.
I've always ripped on the New Age Outlaws for being overrated and marking for themselves, but this interview really impresses me with how laid back and honest they are, especially Road Dogg and his honesty regarding his substance abuse.

Gabriel Guzman It's bickered about a lot, though 97 is a favourite starting year, WM17 in 2001 often considered its finale. There are multiple moments that people claim to be the revolutionary beginning. Austin's "3:16" speech at King of the Ring. The Montreal Screwjob. Even as far back as the MSG 'Curtain Call' in 1996, due to the big shake up of the roster, and the start of some real fourth wall breaking.
man this got me feeling some kind of way rite now these were my idols in middle school its really sad wen you really understand addiction and know your fucking your life up and cant stop it kinda shocks me to hear only 9 months sober
ITS D-O-DOUBLE G,LOL. They were my favorite wrestlers and always wondered what happen to them, I didn't know but at least they come clean and tell their experiences. Good to see them ☺️
I met Road Dogg in Lexington Kentucky after a show and Big Boss Man. Both guys were class acts we had a great time and they were so down to earth and very cool and I always will remember that night. Godfather came too but he left it wasnt his cup of tea, it was a pretty mello shin dig but very much appreciate Road Dogg and Ray hanging out. I had a pic with my brother and R. Dogg and myself with an autograph I took it to a place I worked at back then showed another wrestling fan and at the end of my shift it was gone, I dont know what happened stolen or threw away that sucked but I still have the memory. Thanks guys you were awesome
Billy Gunn always had to carry Road Dogg in the ring..there's a reason Gunn was actually successful and watchable in singles while Road Dogg was a natural tag team partner. Funniest thing about this is they made fun of HHH and Vince in TNA yet Road Dogg has tried to denounce any bad coming out about HHH and the CM Punk issue. These guys getting their recent title reign was nostalgic, but undeserving/unnecessary.
Na Billy never carried anyone. They both work best as a tag team. And their last run in the WWE was definitely deserving and....fun. Unless you'd rather watch the Uso's and the Rhodes brothers for the 11 millionth time.
Just think, this interview about Billy Gunn and the Road Dogg getting fired, took place years before Vince McMahon re-hired them, and then fired them again.
Respect to BJ for owning up to the mistakes he made in the past. Monty was the one saying it but I'm sure at the time Brian felt the same about not being able to objectively examine why they we're let go.
I think them being so different but still gelling makes them way cooler than LOD, The Rockers, Midnight Express, etc. These guys look different, wrestle different, and talk different... but they're incomplete with the other.

Oh you didn't know road Dogg got two words for you love ya. Followed you and your family damn near my whole life truly happy for you the attitude years were the best and to you wish you only the best from one hometown boy to another. ✌️
That s true. Always rooted for Road dogg. He could ve been up there on the edge jericho kurt angle level of being a legend. He s top 5 mic hof. his finisher was mediocre could ve gone with the piledriver. But his move set was memorable and cool. worked long hardcore matches. His look with the different cool shirts every night knee pads arm band and caps always looked bad ass and were popular back then and would ve sold even more if he became a regular headliner. Them coming back and winning titles in wwe again was more than i could ve hoped for the outlaws since i thought they burned bridges. Same with the hardys after the drugs and matt online suicide stupid shit.
They tried to send me to rehab and i said Ohh..You didn't know??

nice one😂

I miss those days. Too Cool, Hardyz Dudley's
Them and the headbanger's
The fucking dirtbag youtube comment
Agreed
Yup, same here. And they were definitely over at their peak.
I never knew Road dog was on drugs. That's sad. At least he's man enough to admit it.

That rapport was what clearly shone through with the NAO and made them so uniquely great. And the music of course :)
Bunch of haters here. Billy Gunn and Road Dogg even admit to the drug use and abuse.
Damn straight 2 thumbs up in my book!!
Slac adjuster haters gonna hate!
Damn right, but they take their Prozac and Xanax, drink their Wine and Liqour and judge people who do Drugs....like WTF it's the same thing.
Yep and Road Dogg is a success story! Dude is an executive in WWE!
I'm really glad they both made great comebacks in recent years.
one of the greatest if not the greatest tag team of all time

OH, YOU DIDN'T KNOW??!! These guys had my favorite entrance to the ring!!
Billy Gunn looks like Sid Vicious when the camera is side-on.
“You’re only half the man I am... and I’ve got half the ass that you do!”
I still remember when Sid kept in his heel promo from the shockmaster botch
Nah he looks like Buffalo Bill from silence of the lambs
Must be really weird to be fired an re-hired over and over again by the same company...

Good on you road dogg for changing :)
