  • The final day of action of Munich 2022 took place on Sunday 21st August, and day seven of the European Athletics Championships did not disappoint.
Germany won the final gold of the event in style, winning the women's 4x100m relay to finish top of the medal table.
It was Germany's second gold of the night after Julian Weber won gold in the javelin final.
Great Britain and Northern Ireland, who finished second in the medal table, won gold in the men's 4x100m with a championship record time of 37.67.
Elsewhere Yaroslava Mahuchikh won Ukraine's second gold of the event in the women's high jump, Spain's Mariano Garcia beat Jake Wightman to take the men's 800m gold and Italy's Yemaneberhan Crippa won the 10,000m.
With Rome 2024 on the horizon it was a strong finish for Italy, their third gold of the Championship.
It was also the story of Poland's Pia Skrzyszowska in the women's 100m hurdles as she took gold, minutes before she went back on track and won silver in the 4x100m relay, helping Poland set a new national record in the event.

Mahuchikh's English has improved. She still labors a bit to pronounce it correctly. She sure has a lot of vitality.

She's only second. Mariya Lasitskene - 2.00 russian championship. If you don't let someone in, don't want to compete honestly, it doesn't mean that you are stronger. Without the Russians, this championship becomes a parody in many sports.

@@beguncic77 To exchange freedom in your country for a society in which Russians will soon be marked with stars, like Jews in nazi Germany? I know that betrayal of the motherland is held in high esteem by Europeans. You really like Nazi Ukraine, which has been shelling the civilian population of Donbass for 8 years, in which most of the national heroes are traitors and murderers.

@@eyeswideshot7347 I don’t think that his ethnicity was ever in question. How come no one would ever question a person who immigrated from Russia to Norway, or Ireland and competed. Same for Canada. Why don’t you quest South African athletes or Australians? Apparently, by your logic, Africans can only immigrate to USA and compete without question concerning ethnicity. All nations receive Immigration aliens who eventually become second and third generation citizens.
