I was in the stadium .....the atmosphere was electrifying...Italy is experimenting a magic in athletics. Unforgettable the roar of the crowd when Tortu got the baton with the final stretch open .... people got crazy, it was like a scream of freedom 🔥🔥 And all the area of Foro Italico outside the stadium is absolutely unique in the world ..... so typical of Rome and underrated touristically

I was just referring to the Athletics Championship, because often countries spend so much on the event but the level of athletes coming through never really changes. So it was very noticeable just how many Italian athletes were doing so well in so many disciplines... and not just the established athletes. I wanted to say how amazing it must be for the fans and how inspiring for kids, especially in Olympic year 🙌 to see a Federation doing it on and off the track🇮🇹 Forza Italia🇮🇹
Italy was unstoppable in this Euro championship, their previous record was Splalato (in the '90, iirc) with 12 medals, while this year they have gotten 24 medals in total, an amazing improvement and results. Congratulations !
A good number of potentially sure medalists did not joined the championships, mainly from GB : enhanced clowns are smart enough to be in shadow just 40 days before Olympics ...

Duplantis is a monster. I was there yesterday at the stadium and is on another level of the competion. Doing an attempt then chlling around for an hour, doing another attempt and so on, it puts smile of your face. Happy also for others pole vault athletes

This Euro champs has announced European athletes as a potential dominating force at the Olympics in 2 months, and Italy really has stepped up in the past couple years to lead them. Amazing Ingebritsen, just testing strategies..starting at the back 2 seconds behind, then getting into the lead with 2.5 laps to go and slowly increasing temp, with a last lap of 53 seconds...insane. testing himself for upcoming Olympics
If the pack lets Ingebritsen run his race, he is unstoppable. Someone is going to have to take a chance and try to take a big lead and hold on at the end. Don't know if it's possible but, ya gotta try something.
Running with a heavy cold too, and it was questionable to the last minute whether she would run or not. I wonder if Jemma Reekie regrets doing the 1500m. With Keely out of sorts, she had a chance of winning the 800m, unlike the 1500 where she faded badly.
Proud of Emmanuel Karalis in getting a personal best 5.87 and Greece third medal 🥈🇬🇷. Respect to Duplantis. To the English commentator, the Greek National Outdoor Record is not 5.87, but 5.91 held by Kostas Filippidis back in 2016. Karalis owns the indoor NR of 5.86.

It's not the PBs in the 4x100 that are important, but the partials. Tortu in the 4x100 in Tokyo ran 8,845, which is a time that in the relay people like Brommell, Coleman, Omanyala, Su Bingtian, Simbine etc etc have never run or even come close to. Yesterday he ran in 9.05, giving up the last 10 meters and even opening his arms. Tortu is a relay monster. Probably if there was an athletics race of 120-150 meters starting from a flying start Tortu would be on the podium in the world.

What is it with Italian sportspeople appearing at home in front of their adoring fans? It seems to drive them to almost superhuman heights, with even athletes who are normally quite ordinary turning in fantastic performances. They did something similar in the European swimming championships in 2022. The good thing for the rest of the world is that they never look so unbeatable when they race outside Italy.

Italy in that 4x4. That must have been one hell of a pep talk that team was given before these championships. Being the host is understandably inspiring but usually not to this extent. There's light blue all over the place in this meet and always near the front.
I was slightly surprised to hear comments on the 1500-meter race. To be honest, there's no recipe to beat Ingebrigtsen for these guys, and it doesn't matter what they do; he will win. And when you say they let him control the race, you know better than anyone that it's more difficult to win from the front than from behind. It's ridiculous and embarrassing to watch when other guys put in so much effort and Ingebrigtsen runs effortlessly. Mondo Duplantis absolutely awesome to. Congratulations
Who can stop Femke Boll? It seemed to me as if she was just doing a leisurely training session, it was so controlled. She didn't just run away, but adjusted her speed exactly to the other runner. That's perfect power management.
As a Dutch American I'm so torn. But I have not seen her beat Sydney and I still don't think she can. Tough when you're the best ever except for one person who is running at the same time as you.

I saw some comments that Peeters was slow, I think she did an amazing job sticking to a very strong Irish opponent and not letting the Irish team get a comfortable lead over the Netherlands. All 4 athletes did an amazing job, I think this setup worked really well for the Dutch team!

Bol was just cruising like it was a morning jog. Like a light training to warm up a bit. It looked like she was not even running at 60%. Because she knew that the win was already theirs the moment she took the baton.
The 400m european champion who run a PB of 48.98 didn't use a good strategy in that last leg she run every curve from 2nd lane that made her run at least 407 meters and got herself exhausted in last 100m

Incredible Women's LJ competition with Mihambo's 7.22m (-1.4) & 6.80m only good enough for 7th place, the standard of the Jumps have been excellent, can the raised platform become the norm pls @Major Meets? :) Good to see Mihambo, Mondo, Karalis & Iapichino all jumping well. ITA's M4x1 can still bring in the likes of Ali & Simonelli, would love to see it at least once. Interesting seeing Dina on the 1st leg of GB's W4x1, very reminiscent of her Coach using her training partner Julien Alfred on the 1st leg of Texas's W4x1 NCAA record-setting team. 17:24; NED's Tasa Jiya loves nothing more than running down a Swiss Sprinter on the last leg of the 4x1 :) S/O IRL's record 4 Medals, they just keep getting better & better with Adeleke & Mawdsley as an incredible backbone!
The runway is not "grounded" it's elevated, and as a result "springy", hence the athletes are getting a good 10 to 20 cm on their jumps. Mihambo is undeniably a global talent, but even she was shocked how far she "flew".
@@tascrphs Literally wrote that it's a "raised platform", but even so, a lot of the jumps over the 6 days were into headwinds so it all balances out e.g. Mihambo jumped 7.03 (-1.3m/s) in Qualifying & 7.22m (-1.4m/s) in the Final.

Incredible Women's LJ competition with Mihambo's 7.22m (-1.4) & 6.80m only good enough for 7th place, the standard of the Jumps have been excellent, can the raised platform become the norm pls @Major Meets? :) Good to see Mihambo, Mondo, Karalis & Iapichino all jumping well. ITA's M4x1 can still bring in the likes of Ali & Simonelli, would love to see it at least once. Interesting seeing Dina on the 1st leg of GB's W4x1, very reminiscent of her Coach using her training partner Julien Alfred on the 1st leg of Texas's W4x1 NCAA record-setting team. 17:24; NED's Tasa Jiya loves nothing more than running down a Swiss Sprinter on the last leg of the 4x1 :) S/O IRL's record 4 Medals, they just keep getting better & better with Adeleke & Mawdsley as an incredible backbone!
The runway is not "grounded" it's elevated, and as a result "springy", hence the athletes are getting a good 10 to 20 cm on their jumps.
Mihambo is undeniably a global talent, but even she was shocked how far she "flew".
@@tascrphs Literally wrote that it's a "raised platform", but even so, a lot of the jumps over the 6 days were into headwinds so it all balances out e.g. Mihambo jumped 7.03 (-1.3m/s) in Qualifying & 7.22m (-1.4m/s) in the Final.
