I watch your volgs and I don't even own a Tesla. We purchased an Hyundai Electric last December. It's the 38Kwh battery model. It's good for 300 km. We love it. Once you go electric you can never go back. We live on the far south coast of NSW in the bush on 25 acres and charge mainly from our home off grid solar system. We have an NRMA fast charger 20Km away but it was down recently for 5 weeks. This is our only means of transport. We are both retired and it suits our new life style. We can get from here to Canberra on a single home charge and have reliable NRMA fast chargers in Cooma to back us up if needed. We initially had range anxiety but by doing some exploratory trips that soon left. All in all we are very happy with our decision to join the EV cult .... you can meet some pretty cool people at the chargers , all helping each other and prepared to swap tips.
Glad you are still enjoying your car. I ordered my M3 in January and got it in March. My biggest concern was (almost) everything being on the centre display. I missed having information in front of me so got an aftermarket HUD from China that sits on the dash and provides basic info like speed, battery %, turn signals, drive mode, etc. (I tried to link it for you in the comments of one of your videos, but it must have been against T&Cs, because it got removed.) Having it in my eyeline is perfect. What I have found with the centre display, now I’m used to operating it, is it makes any other car I drive seem cluttered with buttons and switches everywhere. I do wish it had better blind spot warning though. The majority of my charging is at home using the Tesla UMC (Universal Mobile Charger) but I am tired of unplugging it and stowing it in the car so will be getting a wall mounted charging point. Here in NZ the Supercharger network is pretty sparse and is about 30% more expensive than other ultrafast chargers. With no referrals anymore the main thing they have going for them is reliability. The car isn’t perfect, but it is very good and I don’t regret buying it.
Hey Ian ! I've only just seen this comment now. Good to get an update from you with how it's been going ! I agree unplugging the UMC all the time is a little annoying. What wall mounted charger u looking at getting? Hopefully more superchargers get deployed in NZ soon. And I agree about the centre screen, once u get used to it, its actually really awesome.
I've had my Tesla Model S 75D for 4 years. Incredible car. Some minor service issues, nothing big. My son just bought a model Y, which is fabulous. I charge at home and can go 240 miles for $9. I do wish I had gone with the 100D for the additional range and even a better sound system, mine is wonderful I do have FSD and it's not quite perfect. Hi Ryan I love watching you videos. I am serioulsly thinking of buying a Tesla Model 3 but I am concerned it doesn't have a 360/Birdseye view camera for driving forward into car parks. Do you find parking the your model Y easy when you are driving forward into lined car parks and can you see the lines on the screen so that you know you are parked in the centre. Very keen to know how you find it.
Excellent video Ryan. Like always, I look at your videos and just can't wait for mine to arrive. Ordered in March with a 5-7 month wait. Hopefully not too much longer. I have a question though, is there anything you've would've done differently when ordering the Model 3?

Yep .. the supercharger network s incredible! I couldn’t imagine trying a trip in a non-Tesla BEV … (to think that a Taycan or other BEV can offer the same long distance abilities , well …it’s basically insanity, for stubborn people !)
In scenarios where the 3rd party charge was broken, what did you do in order to charge the car? I have test-driven the Y and am heavily considering making the Purchase and appreciate your videos as it has really helped! But I am curious about this particular scenario. Thanks! Only thing I think about is if I was low battery and pull up to a charger only to have it not working and the next charger being too far away.
Hey mate ! That's exciting you're considering getting the Y-honestly such a great car! Since I made this video there's been A LOT more chargers open up, so I can't imagine you would ever have this issue anymore.
Hi Ryan, I really shouldn’t watch your RUclips videos….. I ordered mine in February and am patiently awaiting delivery, so seeing how much you enjoy your driving is adding to the frustration of not having one yet! One question …. I plan a drive from home (Frankston Sth- just up the road from you) to Pambula, NSW. The tricky section seems Bairnsdale to Eden, very few chargers appear on any of the apps. It’s around 300kms to Pambula, would you be looking to look for somehow top up at say, Cann River or should I forge ahead. How accurate is the nav system?
Hey Chris ! Thanks for the comment mate, hopefully your Model 3 comes soon ! Interesting point about the gap between Bairnsdale to Eden. You might have to stop in Gipsy Point/Mallacoota. 300kms at highway speeds should mean you make it but might be stressful. The nav system in the car has been very accurate for us.
@@RyanCowan Thanks for the info, I’ve noticed Gipsy Pt on ABRP, and am hoping we don’t have to venture down there…. Anyway, time will tell. Safe driving, Chris

Ryan, have you ever had any issues with low ground clearance on sloped driveways (breakover angle) or speed bumps? I ordered a Model 3 a few days ago and it's one of my concerns. I have a moderately steep driveway and a Model 3 can barely make it without scratching the underbody. I keep seeing places where I think to myself "A Tesla wouldn't fit here". What are your experiences?
Hey Konrad, excited to hear you've ordered a Model 3 ! In regards to ground clearance, the model 3 is low, and it has caught us off guard a few times. My brothers driveway in regional Vic gets our car every time. Just something to be mindful of, but not a deal breaker by any means. Here is a short video from my brothers driveway ruclips.net/user/shortsExxcjAwwUKE
@@RyanCowan Thanks mate, good to know. For the last six years I've been driving a Suzuki Jimny, so things like "ground clearance issues" did not exist for me. Now, I'll have to be constantly wary of many places down here. Your brother's driveway looks pretty innocent and yet you got caught there.
Thank you mate !! I only added this button a few days ago and you're officially the first person to use it. Really appreciate the support. **adds it straight into Tesla shares** 😂🙏
@@RyanCowan not really, things seem to clean off with soapy warm water but I'm still expecting them to stain I guess. They look great but I mainly got them to reduce heat in the car when it is sitting in the sun during the day.
Manifest it 😂 Worked for me. I worked in retail for 6 years, had NO idea how I'd ever afford a Tesla... but just kept thinking about it ! Remember money is energy !
@@RyanCowan what does manifest it even mean In reality? These cars are around 87k-95k depending on what model you get. Buying them outright is one option (best one tbh). But if you go the finance way, you're paying like $1400 minimum over 84 months. A bit less if you put down a deposit or balloon amount. Let's say someone's income is $6k a month after taxes (that's around $120k a year which is pretty average for aus). That means you're spending 23% of your income on a car. How is that an affordable thing to do?
@@brokenSnake lol thats not the attitude I would recommend you have towards it. Like I said, if someone had asked me 'how' when I was working in retail, I wouldn't have believed them ! Good luck to you.
Do you regret not buying another colour considering every man and their nan has a white? If yes, which colour would you pick if you didn't want to get the white. (serious question as i am about to order one).
haha hey mate ! We LOVE the white, so personally would never go for anything else ... unless we wrapped the car which would look incredible !! But if I had to choose another Tesla colour, I'd go the grey! My parents just ordered a grey performance with white interior which I think will look amazing.
I had to upgrade the USB stick for better sentry mode playback speeds. But yes, it’s a new chore to download the video files and spending time looking through them. I hate coming back from a shopping centre and having so so so many clips. I don’t want to just delete them without checking them, but now I have to check them all … just in case.
To be honest, when Tesla went public in the United States many years ago, there were very few cases of car lithium battery fires, but at that time American firefighters have commented that lithium battery fires are terrible and difficult to put out. The news was only listed for 2 days before it was removed from the news site. Because it affects Tesla's sales. My husband wants to buy a Tesla, but I stop him from buying it. We argued for a few days. He said American Firefighters' comments were wrong. Now this car accident, my husband has nothing to say. If the driver's death cause by burning, not because of a car crash! Says Tesla batteries are cheaper than gasoline. What is the use? take a way Jimmy Lin in taiwan tesla car accident as example

Ordered my SR M3 with white/black interior and am praying I get it by the estimated 6-9 months😂🤧
Thanks Angus ! Keeping our fingers crossed for you. Delivery day will be very exciting I'm sure !
@@RyanCowan Wouldn't be surpised if its the best day of my 20's ahah. Cheers Ryan
@@angusjohnson7792 hahaha I reckon !!
Gday mate, great videos ! I have had my SR since May 2021, exactly the same experience! I am in Tyabb if you ever need a charge !
Hey Steve ! Wow, small world ☺we took delivery on the 17th, what about you? How many kms have u done so far?
My favourite video so far! 😍😍
🥰🥰🥰
Would you buy another tesla, or has the share price drop put you off. I have a tesla on order and i think tesla is secure.
@@RyanCowan sounds good to me haha, thank you.
I am just about to get a Tesla. Our first foray into EV's but I'm excited. My husband drives a landcruiser....but we wont go there
Congrats !! You'll love it, and he will too in time 😏
You are saving the environment one kilometre at a time😊
Hi Ryan, I really shouldn’t watch your RUclips videos…..
Safe driving,
Chris
About to order one already prepared for a long wait
Congrats mate ! Shanghai factory is back to 100% now so hopefully you get yours sooner than expected
Ordered in April with 6 to 9 month wait do have range anxiety as not many super chargers in New Zealand’s north island.
Excited for you Kevan ! Did u order a 3 or Y? We got over our range anxiety pretty quickly. Do u have many third party chargers in NZ? Which island r u on?
@@RyanCowan North (Auckland ) don’t think it is extensive yet and Tesla just go straight up and down country but not the smaller towns on the side,
Ordered standard range 3 in blue.
@@kevanbygate9485 how many km's would it be to your nearest supercharger?
@@RyanCowan around Auckland fine just trips to Coromandel Rotorua and bay of islands I’m worried about
Are you finance the car my mate ? ballon payment end ? or pay cash in Australia thks
I’ve got a question, is it worth buying the auto pilot and which one?
Standard AP which comes with all Teslas is good enough imo
Was the black plate number background a custom purchase through myplates or that is what came by default with the car? Thanks mate
Came with the car by default (which we were very happy about!). Looks great especially with the white.
Awesome 12 month summary Ryan! Thank you.
Ordered our M3 last February and just patiently waiting. August can't come fast enough for me. I wonder how's the heated seats doing in this freezing Melbourne weather...
Thanks mate ! Very excited for you, hopefully august comes around quickly. Heated seats have been a godsend in this weather. Absolutely freezing this morning !
I am in Northland NZ - I have found the heated Steering wheel is very addictive on cold mornings !
Thanks
Thank you mate !! I only added this button a few days ago and you're officially the first person to use it. Really appreciate the support. **adds it straight into Tesla shares** 😂🙏
@@RyanCowan Ryan when I find work again ill happily contribute.
Love your videos and your a good fellow.
@@alexandermarksstein8611 thanks mate ! Appreciate your support regardless.
Umm 14k in a year is not that much driving... Only 270 a week most people do Closer to 20k a year
Can't wait to FSD beta comes to australia! or better yet, full FSD
Be SOOO good !
How are you finding the white seats holding up? I got the white too and so far so good but I've only had it for 5 months
They seem to be holding up great ! Have u had any issues so far?
@@RyanCowan not really, things seem to clean off with soapy warm water but I'm still expecting them to stain I guess. They look great but I mainly got them to reduce heat in the car when it is sitting in the sun during the day.
How do you afford this car? I'm at 200k a year and still can't afford it without spending a huge amount for finance.
Will your next video be you paying the EV tax for 14,000 kms? I’m still fuming from paying mine 😡
How much for 14K?
@@notamiscreantfish8742 $350
14,000 km in one year?, you dont go out much?
😂
To me looks cheap inside I didn’t like the quality at all
🎉

Let's hope the newly elected Labor government comes with a few more EV incentives for us.
