I have a PRO 7+ and this thing is impressive. Versatile, durable and it GAMES! I have easily played GTA5 and many other games. Mine is PRO7+ with a i5 11th gen with 8gigs. No lag on WORD, EXCEL, or anything else. Going on two years and not a single blue screen, EVER! Maybe the PRO4 is garbage but I can surely say that mine has never gave me issue. Battery is really good too!!
@@jellyscape Right??? 😂 but for a heavily used device, you'd be surprised how many do begin to lag. I use my Surface FOR EVERYTHING. This thing is effective and efficient.
I have the surface pro 6 with i5, 8gb and 128 gb + 64gb ssd and I am also in love with the performance, especially its battery is so damn long! I can use it for completely 9 hours without any issues!
Funny thing is I am watching this on a Surface Pro 4 that so far as I know was never replaced or bricked during its use by my mother before being handed down to me.
@@hamzaansari4172 You're not doing anything wrong. I have an i7, 16 gb ram one. It's not a "beast" by any stretch of the imagination. The device overheats incredibly easily as soon as you start doing anything more demanding than browsing and watching youtube videos. The overheating causes the device to throttle and the performance dips like a MF. I can get FPS dips even when playing 16 bit titles. Get an external fan that attaches to the surface pro to cool it off and next time go for a laptop.
A couple days ago I got a surface pro nine and I gotta say it’s a kick ass laptop. It’s pretty snappy with multitasking, but I didn’t do gaming yet. The 16 gig ram sure as hell helps but I’m not sure if it’s single channel or duel channel for surface pros even if the processor is a 12th generation Intel, I seven with a base speed caulking at 2.6 GHz.
i have the surface pro 3 i5 model and i still use it for minor things like netflix and on the go travel, never had any problems with it as of yet, except for a couple of bsods in its life its been pretty stable
My missus was using a SP3 until last week. Still pretty good for streaming and browsing on the go and the occasional document editing. She now has the SP6 I was using, and I got a renewed SP7+. These devises are great. But a few of these have known issues. Some SP4 had screen flicker issue and some just died. SP7 had touchpad freezing issue. Usually, these problems happen in the first year or these devices run forever.
@@Subh8081 can agree, mines still going even right now. just the charger itself is struggling on it. sometimes it will charge but make a buzzing sound. other times nothing at all. all official and original. so im deciding whether to just upgrade to a newer device for now, when it does charge though it works absolutely amazingly with windows 11 on it aswell. surprisingly.
Bro, I have the pro 8 i7, I open 250 canon camera images in photoshop at the same time and edit them with no issues! I use two semiconductor fans while doing so and other heavy lifting. It's a pure monster.
I’m running a surface pro 2017, it is maxed out but it very much impressed me with what it could do. Light switch and Xbox 360 games, a good amount of Wii games, some older triple a titles (I tried metal gear rising, metal gear solid 5 (that one surprised me the absolute most) gta 5, gta 4, need for speed carbon and a lot of titles around that era) and they ram locked at 30 or 60. In my personal opinion, the sp4 and newer will still do good enough for daily use if you debloat and lighten the system, maybe even change the battery out for a new one. As for physical issues, something I’ve noticed happened to my pro 5 and my fathers pro 4 is that the touchscreen would just touch and hold on the right edge of the screen, turns out this was from years of use and it was easily fixed by a calibration tool. Needless to say I am very happy with my surface experience, I currently have a surface book 3 with a 1660ti max q and will continue to use this until I deem fit.
If you need a perfect university surface tablet buy the surface 6 pro! It has the best battery life, best performance, best smoothness, best everything. I have the surface 6 pro i5, 8gb, 128gb + 65gb and i am IN LOVE.
How could they not recover your files? I own a repair shop and whenever I got a dead not repairable surface I'd just take it apart and put the M.2 drive (that MOST surfaces have depending on storage option) into a different computer and or put it into an M.2 to USB converter and give it to them.
"The amount of work and time it would take to walk through these steps, costs a lot of money, its easier to simply give the customer a new device and we will send the old device for back for RMA" meanwhile MS isn't losing any money, they will repurpose the device or 'fix' it and put it back on the shelf.
I think most of the problems you had was due to how the emulator was coded, for example not having vulkan support since Microsoft uses its own version of intel HD graphics driver that does not support openGL
actually, microsoft did a silent recall (didn't recall it, just put a deadline up for a known issue and if you sent your's in in time, they would replace the battery controller and the screen), if you didn't make it by the dead line , or bought one after deadline that was on the shelf since then and never got replaced, you were sol when it died 5 weeks or so later as the store only did 30 day, and microsoft wouldn't honor any warrenty at all. Now I have one that won't boot, and had had the fuzzy screen issues that plagued them at launch. I've heard louis rossman and a few others will do screen replace and battery controller swap, but the cost involved you can just go get another, more modern and powerful, device.
I have two Pro 4s and a Pro 3 and the only time they have shut down is because of overheating due to me blocking the ventilation grills or using them with red hot sun shining directly on them. Either yours were from a bad batch or you are causing it to over heat, I suspect the latter.
I’m new to all this. I know this’ll sound ignorant to a lot of people. How would I run batocera from an external hd on a surface pro 2? Is it a plug n play thing or is it more complicated than that? I’ve got the sfp2 with an i5. It’s capable for what I want I think. Thanks for any info.
That’s probably the case because it needs a stronger ram like at eight gig and over to have a better experience with the emulator’s like the PS1 Dreamcast to some degree Aunt, and 64
Struggles to run PSX games, but it can play PSP fairly well, weird. The PSP can play PSX games if converted to the right format, wondering if they'll perform better like that than they do on a PSX emulator.
The surface uses a modified version of windows probably throttling like theres no tomorrow. I'm going to try installing batocera on my surface and see what happens
It works pretty good so far up to PS2, i have a wired controller though and i set the device to the lowest screen resolution. At the native resolution i notice lag.@@Bulian
Great and understood this is a piece of junk (Thanks indeed as I was to buy one cheap used one!), but for the heaven's sake, what is a good old tablet that can do basic needs and reliable, even if slow, PS and some minimal video work, in addition to handwritten note taking and a good smooth stylus and touch pad. Thanks if you dar to answer! 😁

Loved watching this video on my Surface Pro 4, so far never had any problems. It works great for day to day working, streaming or RDT. But, it is getting a bit slow due to it's 4gz of ram. But it's really cool I can hand off to my nephew as a large screen gaming tablet
