The good 'ole fiberglass repair! Ramdan and his crew are total gems, diamond in the ruff, etc. That seemingly minor repair will last a long time, similar technique used in repairing fiberglass holes in boats. Gotta love human hospitality and ingenuity anywhere in the world.
I followed the repairs,, metal working, to paint,, and then the air box repair glass fiber mat, polyester resin, gel coat, micro balloons,,, and then paint to finish sealing and make it pretty. I do not know the plastic Honda uses,, most polyester resins should be compatible. If it lasts the week of temps and vibrations, it will last as long as the motorcycle. That was not a temp patch,,, that was an expertly thought out and skillful permanent solution. My compliments to your mechanics.
Wow, Ramdan is yet another one of Noraly's 'protective angels' on this incredible journey. Amazing DIY workmanship, so quick and genuinely helpful. What a wonderful hero! As an African, I'm always impressed by my fellow African's abilities to 'make a plan'. Incredible. Well done guys. 👏 👏
Not just Africans, people who have little to work with in general. Which is very common in Africa of course, but also seen it in central Asia, Indonesia, and growing up poor in Europe we had to make do ourselves with scraps and whatever we could cobble together.
@@jwenting thank you for your reply, you're 100% right. I can only speak from my lived experiences of travelling through Africa, and needing repairs done in obscure places off the beaten track. Those experiences made good memories and stories!
Ramadan and his son don't have the luxury of tools and supplies available to Bill and Darren, but they make skillful repairs with creativity, experience, and good humor. As others noted, taking the time to paint the chain guard and air box was a mark of pride in craft. The cardboard pattern making was truly impressive, as was the hand-hammering to finish. The drone shots in the desert looked like something from another planet. It looked like Norlay found a space-time warp and travelled to Tatooine. And even thought motorcycles (typically) don't have a "reverse" Noraly makes the right choice when the desert winds start to blow and changes course. Well done to Noraly and her creative Moroccan mechanics.
@@elyazidaitelfandek5631 Thank you for the correction. I expected it was father and son, but that was not confirmed in the close caption. I appreciate that you shared that information.
the old trusty CAD method.... thats Cardboard Assisted Design btw 😁 i still do that when making custom brackets and fillplates for welding even tho i have access to modern data design tools
You just have to love Ramdan. He knows his stuff and you can see the passion in what he does......... He can communicate in English and i bet he speaks French and Arabic too. Great guy!
I just wanted to thank you for portraying my region in such a positive light through your content. As someone who grew up in this area, it's always heartwarming to see it accurately and respectfully portrayed. Your videos have not only highlighted the natural beauty of our region, but also the distinct culture, traditions, and people that make it unique. You've clearly taken the time to truly understand and appreciate what makes this place so special. BIG THUMBS UP👍
Having grown in the Canary Islands, so close to Morocco, and it had to be a Dutch woman the one that came down and changed my whole perspective for this absolutely beautiful and charming country full of great, friendly and courteous people. I am in love with the country and has now been officially included in the list places I want to visit some day! Ramdan is the man, by the way.
Before Noraly got to Ramdan, big shoutout to the guy who drew her a map to reach him, it’s the Moroccan way : “if I don’t know how to fix your problem, I know someone who will” and we’ve seen that before when one gentleman in the northern city went out of his way to show her where that little motel was. As a Moroccan it warms my heart to see my countrymen do the right thing and beyond each time. Thank you Noraly for bringing me my Morocco to my Pennsylvania home. Peace and Love.

What a joy! A ~real~ mechanic, rather than an exchanger of spareparts. So rare these days, especially here in Europe where everyone has forgotten that you can actually fix shit, rather than replacing it. Morocco has it all. :) Great episode.
Ramdan and his Crew are the Hero of the day…the Confidence of Ramdan is next level..He was like I don’t have the parts but I can make the parts No problem. Ramdan I Salute you all the way from the U.S.A 🫡
I'm a Moroccan and I have been through many road trips on motorcycles and cars but I have never lived the experience you are going through and I am amazed that such beauty exists in my country. Thank you for showing us the real Morocco. Have a safe trip.

As we've all heard before: "When the plan falls apart, that's when the real adventure begins." Without the bent shift lever and damaged air box, we wouldn't have discovered Ramdan's friendliness, skill, and generosity (fixing Noraly's bike before all others). It's the interpersonal connections that make lasting memories. I hope that he and his helpers can somehow view this episode.
As someone who's been touring on his bicycle, I know that smooth days are fun. But when you face problems, and conquer them, is what you will always remember.
That is so true. Happened to me many times over the last 45 years, and it's why I don't worry about riding by myself. I'm always amazed at the generosity of people everywhere.
As you say respect the desert. And respect to you Noraly for not taking unnecessary chances. And wow Ramdam and his crew were fantastic. True heroes!!!:)
from my own experience, Moroccan mechanisms always find the right solutions to face any kind of problem. And it's great to show them at work, and simply understand your needs, always with humility. great country.
Maaan !!! This is my country, and I've never seen it presented in such beautiful way !!! The drone shots with the right music makes it look like a fantasy world, and that sent chills down my spine!!!! I LOVE what you did there, thank you so much 🥰🥰
Real mechanics not just fitters of spare parts. Even spray-painting the chainguard and airbox, a sign of real pride in their work. Noraly your positivity and amazing people skills ( or more probably your love for your fellow man), is something to admire.
@@grandenauto3214 What do you mean by 3rd world country?...Stupid classifications come just from stupid people, your speach is racist and supports stratification.
It really amazing how Ramdan is fixing your bike. I think the airbox now is better and more solid than a new one. They even painted the fixed airbox too!!!. Great job Ramdan!
as a Moroccan, Noraly have honored our country, really you doing great, and about close the hols it was the right plan. Thank you, Welcome and good luck.
As a aircraft technician, it always amazes me when I see someone with ingenuity. Ramdan is a shining star in his ability to come up with a clever solution with the tools at hand. It interesting how people in remote areas are so friendly and customer oriented, not so here in the States. Please keep up the great videos, they warm my heart.
As a Certified red neck fix it anyway you can in a pinch . I always get a kick out of engineers above my pay level to make a simple problem worse. Air craft have at least 1 back up system, great if you flying. Sucks if you have to move it,Hammering a brake line close before a leak is not a option at 30k ft either. But after 47 yrs riding bikes I can always find a way to fix it cheap and nasty.
Norali, this one is one special episode and the hero is definitely Ramdan, his Dad and his team, definitely these folks are legends. Basically they have everything one needs to get out of trouble and chances are that you will complete this series without the need for a new replacement. Their energy, their spirit, their smiles, their kindness and above all, the confidence they have in creating solutions is simply awesome and brilliant to say the least. I saw how in Mexico the enterprising spirit of far away mechanics saved the day for you, and hey, here comes another legend, this time Ramdan and Team to help you continue your beautiful North African adventure. I tip my hat to this beautiful country, to these beautiful people and the legends that got you back on the road, Respects!!
One of my favorite episodes yet. Never underestimate the ingenuity of resourceful mechanics in the developing world. They do what they can with what they have where they are, and they're happy to do it. My guess is that those patches will last for a very long time. Had you gone to a mechanic in the US or Europe, the repair would have cost much more, and you would not have gotten your motorcycle back the same day.
@@hectorshouse7348 And you are one of them..Sorry to tll you I am not sad,in fact I am so happy to see real people and that they are NOT as often portayed but really, really good people.
I'll guarantee you that the repair they did on that airbox is stronger than the rest of the airbox. They used fiberglass on it and once that dries it is stronger than the plastic of the rest of the box. Great video and thanks to Ramadan for his hard, friendly work.
Dude has some great fabrication skills for sure and I love that he chooses to finish out the jobs with the aesthetic work. I mean painting the inside of the air box so it looks good! If Noraly eventually replaces the air box the repaired one will make a great conversation piece to display amongst her other momentos.
That chain guard is one of a kind! Simply amazing to have a part custom fabricated on the side of the road in Morocco. I hope you keep it as a memento!
You should be , did not know anything about Morroco but she has documented what beautiful people and country you have, God bless you and your people from Los Angeles, CA.
Ramdan is an incredible kid. The mechanics in these small towns really know how to actually fix things. They don't just replace parts, they think outside the box and use what's on hand.
The most amazing country to ride your motorcycle, be respectful and it will be returned two fold. I have so many good memories of Morocco one day I will return. Your videos of this country are amazing thank you.
I would say no need for a new airbox, holes patched, good as new. Still keep an eye on it to make sure that the polyester and resin stay attached. Great videos Noraly! 😊👍
Since Noraly is already a world wide sensation I expect our friend Ramdan and his crew are about to experience a vast increase in business! Maybe the best Itchy Boots video yet!
Nothing a bit of duct tape, some glass mat and some resin cant fix! I lived in Oman for six years, and was always amazed by the resourcefulness and talent of guys working out of tiny little crowded garages, filled to the roof with bits of old machinery. Nothing gets thrown away! These guys can fix pretty much anything, with almost nothing. Well done to Ramdan and his team of mates! These kind of jobs for strangers also most always end up in a social gathering to drink tea and exchange culture and language, I just love it! Noraly, your editing of bike cam, helmet cam and drone, was fantastic, and the music choice for the dramatic desert scenes was just perfect!! A beautiful piece of work, as always! Can't wait for next week!
Grew up seeing people do their own repairs. New parts are great, but when you can't wait or get a new part, you have to improvise. Those types of skills pay off. These are some of my favorite videos. Seeing the hospitality and people eager to help. It warms the soul.
One of the best episodes in the series. The mechanic, Ramdan, and the guy that fixes the holes with resins are truly the non spoken heroes of motorcycling. Their wit and enthusiasm is joyful. Most of the times we all depend on the agency to fix our brand new guarantee covered motorcycles. We barely do any work. But after seeing how they built the chain cover from scratch, how they have the workshop, with all the real tools needed, the paint job, and everything else, I stand up and raise my hat for all the road mechanics in the world. Kudos to Itchy Boots for showing these guys and recognizing their work.
Ramdan and his crew were innovative in their approach to the air box . What they did was fill those holes with a form of fiberglass. It gives me an insight to how accommodating and friendly the people of Morocco are. Another great video Noraly.
Frequently AMAZED at when a problem faces you, your ability to find a source for the repair. I’d say, based on what I know about related things, if they’ve used a 2 part adhesive with what looks like fibreglass, you’ll have a repair that may well last the life of the bike. Yet another reason to follow your travels ! NEVER a dull moment on the ITCHYBOOTS channel…❤❤❤Rick
Ramdan's airbox patch made it stronger than new because the patch was made of very strong materials on both sides of the hole, making it thicker than original. I've done similar patches on my lawn tractor's mowing deck which is regularly penetrated by our sandy soil. I also use duct tape to start, then remove it once the first side of the patch has hardened, then the first side of the patch provides a surface for the second side making the original hole virtually proof against further damage. I'd say buying a new airbox wouldn't be necessary. My mowing deck is about a decade old; I just keep patching it when holes crop up in new places.
My oil filler plug came out in Morocco 🇲🇦 , luckily in a town. Numerous people were organising a replacement, not exact, but they managed to make one fit. The mechanic even offered me some of his dinner whilst I waited. Love Morocco and its people. ❤️ Always have to think outside the box when on the road. Thank you, Noraly
Wow Morocco is like a place from another planet. Scintillating drone shots and mesmerizing background music during drone view. Equally impressed with Ramadan and how knowledgeable he is . Ingenious way to fix a problem.
The drone video with the music background just put me in awe! Amazing views and scenery. When you discovered the holes in your air box, my immediate thought was go back to Ramdan and he can find a way to fix it. He seems to be very good at creating solutions to problems. And it seems he and his helpers took very good care of Alaska getting everything fixed. Very good that you can continue your adventure.
That was a good solid repair - the fiberglass patches are probably stronger than the original plastic. I don't think you need a new airbox - that should be fine as a permanent repair :) Happy trails!
Thank you for putting the Moroccan map all together with no line across its desert. Very appreciated by all Moroccans. Enjoy your trip and wherever u need help, just ask Moroccans as you noticed are very welcoming and helpful
After the chain guard job I felt that Ramdan did not get a proper farewell but as destiny would have it that a second visit was needed and a well deserved appreciation and goodbye was meted out to this talented and humble mechanic. (Wish itchy boots sponsor could mail him a pair of overalls)
Those guys were excellent and so willing to help. That could have been a major set back yet they fixed it better than most city mechanics with modern equipment.
*Ramdan & team, I truly hope you get to see and read all these comments. Thank you for helping out our Ms Noraly getting all things (Chain guard, airbox & panel) fixed and patched up on our Miss Alaska. You all went beyond the call of duty as mechanics to fix & even spray paint, to get this all done, to help send our Ms Noraly on her way thru your amazing country. Gosh the drone views from above is spectacular...*
Great video 👍 Ramdan is the man 🇲🇦💪 What a guy. Professional, Good communication skills, Good English. Good heart. With a lovely smile. The way he made that chain guard up and fixed the holes on the Airbox is just Amazing. Well done guys 👍 20:20 No problem 🙂 That sums up Morroco. I'm a 100% episode watcher And this one ranks up there with the best of them!! The drone footage brought tears to my eyes and the storyline had my palms sweating! God bless those guys for doing such a great job with the repairs!! I could tell they took great pride in their work. That repair is as good as one could possibly do. Ride Safe Noraly!!!!
Absolutely! It is amazing what resourceful people can do with limited resources. They learn to make things work when they don't have access to the correct parts. A new chain guard and repaired airbox. And Noraly making friends everywhere she goes.
And Noraly's selection of music to underscore the spectacular sights is also noteworthy and amazing. Is there a special Oscar Award for the finest field filming, editing, musical scoring and enduring?
@Donald Dodson no doubt, man!! There have been several times when I've actually said out loud, "Drone", a millisecond before she cuts to some spectacular aerial footage, and my eyes fill up. I don't know how she does it so well. She has definitely found her groove!!
Wow! What a wonderful episode and what a genious of a mechanic Ramdan is! I once broke a connecting rode on my Honda in Cameroon, some 20 years ago. I was lucky to be just driving through a small town when it happened and the mechanic there repaired my engine at the side of the road. After rummaging in his stock, I could not believe my eyes when he came up with the original spare part in its sealed wrapping! It took him the whole afternoon but I was able to get back home at midnight.....Good for you to respect the desert! It respects you back!
Cool story! I have a favorite breakdown story: In 1978 I was touring eastern Canada on my '71 Triumph Bonny. Of course I had a minor electrical problem. While working on it by the side of the road, a nice couple stopped to help. They were in a pickup truck, on their way to dinner. I said I thought I could fix it, and they said "if you are still here when we are on our way back home, we'll load your bike in the truck and you can stay at our house tonight, then we'll get you to a bike shop tomorrow". Well, I got it fixed and I was back on the road. Sadly, I never saw them again, but I've carried that short friendly interaction close to my heart for all these years.
The people of Morocco during this adventure with Noraly, so far, have been amazing. So friendly and generous. It warms my heart and gives me hope for humanity. Thank you, Noraly, for bringing us along on this fantastic ride! Also, the production of your videos; scenery, music, and editing is spectacular! Well done. :)
The repair is probably far more resilient than the original Airbox. The ingenuity of these mechanics is amazing - in the “western world” it would be a case of “leave the bike for three weeks while we order the new parts” then charge you a King’s Ransom to fit them (only to have them break again at some stage). Safe travels.
I can for sure say that you don't need to replace that airbox.....that repair will last forever......Ramdan and his father did an excellent job, and even painted it to match the rest of the airbox, so much love to what they did! 😍
I tend to agree, the original plastic was weak, it broke easily. If they cleaned it properly it will not fall apart and only be tested if another rock hits it. -but it could be stronger than it was. 🤞
WOW, THAT GUY RAMADA IS OUT OF THIS WORLD. HE CAN FIX ANY PROBLEM WITH THE BIKE WITH A SMILE AND A REASSURING WORDS "NO PROBLEM'. SOMEHOW NORALLY GETS AN ANGEL TO GET HER OUT OF THE TROUBLE THROUGH OUT HER BIKE TRIP AROUND THE WORLD.
The drone footage you did in the desert was really mind blowing... breath taking beauty, remoteness and a big sense of respect and caution to so many things. Impressive also is the excellent mechanic Ramdan and his support team that did a house call and cleared his backlog to make fixing your problem the highest priority, not once but twice! He did not give any excuses or tell you parts are on back order.... just provided immediate results. He's not doing it for fame or because he knows you are loved by millions, he is doing it because he is a great guy. Something that seems to have slipped away from many places in the modern western world. What a blessing. Really loving Morocco.
If the work Ramadan did in the US or UK it would have taken hours maybe days. They would have told tat parts are not available and you need to replace the whole thing lol therefore it will cost you about 500$ + labor + storage fee and you will still need some new breaks and oil change on top to make your bill around 1000+ lol
Morocco is an amazing place. Unlike South and Central America, where they paint everything with bright colors, in Morocco everything just blends in with the desert. I wish I were still able to ride in places like that.
What a day , I hope Honda take note of the good service you getting from around the world. Loved the workshops , they get the problems sorted with a smile. The desert is still very full of surprises. Good one Noraly. Stay safe.
Honda need to take note and provide a metal guard for their plastic air box as I would have thought riding such a bike a CRF300L off road, rocks and stones will get thrown up by the rear tyre to adjacent areas. That plastic air box is clearly vulnerable and needs re-inforcing or protecting with a metal guard much the same as the oil sump and exhaust pipes have bash plate guards.
Bellissimo Bellissimo bellissimo 3 volte!Sei avventura nell'avventura!🎉Bravissimo il meccanico, persona che ti da coraggio mentre lavora e questo È importante quando HAI problemi!!!😅Grande Noraly!😘
If you were in a more "developed" country you would have had to ask for an appointment first, then hopefully get the part replaced or more probably wait for a replacement to arrive. Meanwhile in some random place in Morocco you got it fixed right away, no waiting, no nothing, just a "no problem", laughs and tea. Ramdan and company were so nice, and professional!
Simply Actually the word development and developed should be revised! Those people are more developed and creative than the places where they develop only the invoices and taxes!
Motorcycle 's mechanic are massively expensive in usa and almost impossible to repair , and they at this point only on the business of exchanging parts...take one parts and replace it with another parts with exeption of flat tire ...
Exactly, none of this running around multiple places. Signing papers. Reaching out to lawyers, getting someone else to bring you the part, getting another dude to install it, good grief. 😆When I lived in Alabama I went to a shop where the young guy was like him, hard working and willing to lend a hand, he didn't even charge me. Where other shops would've run me around places, and send me home empty. This shop was in an old-school nothing fancy town, where treating your neighbor well still counted.
When I was learning to ride back in 1971, a friend and I spent a lot of time off road. Nothing crazy, very tame off road riding. He decided to do a jump or two. Well his 350 Honda street bike lost the right peg when his weight came down on it during the end of the jump. LOL, It was funny at the time. He had to rest his brake foot on the engine case. We were near San Ysidro/ Imperial Beach Calif area and as we were slowly making our way back to Imperial Beach, we found a little shop run by an older Mexican fellow and stopped to ask if he could help. He looked and laughed and said sure, he could weld it back on. He did so in just a few minutes and when we asked what he wanted, he said a buck. Now days if you go to a shop with a bike older than 10 years old, you get told they can not help you. Sad change in the way bike shops are dealing with customers these days. Big kudos to those Moroccan mechanics!!!
I love the beautiful scenery to be sure, but my favorite part of Noraly's journey is watching her overcome challenges like this. The amazing ingenuity and resourcefulness of people around the world just leaves me smiling.
I have to admire the mechanics, and their use of CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) 😃
Hahaha CAD
no need for CATIA
It will probably last longer than the plastic Honda version too.
Best comment I've seen for weeks 🤣 But seriously, though, this chain guard is probably much better than the plastic junk that came with the bike.

You just have to love Ramdan. He knows his stuff and you can see the passion in what he does......... He can communicate in English and i bet he speaks French and Arabic too. Great guy!
yeah he was speaking tamazight with his father in the video so that's 4
I just wanted to thank you for portraying my region in such a positive light through your content. As someone who grew up in this area, it's always heartwarming to see it accurately and respectfully portrayed.

Crafty mechanics. They did the best they could do, short of a new box...with no waiting. Wonderful humans around the world. Stay well, ride safe.

As good as new.

It's the interpersonal connections that we don't see enough of. Little bit more than usual in this episode thanks to damage.
Spot on you receive what you give 🔥
from now on when bike is BROKE, stop and wait till a mechanic fixes it. you can destroy a bike like that.
That is so true. Happened to me many times over the last 45 years, and it's why I don't worry about riding by myself. I'm always amazed at the generosity of people everywhere.
A BIG round of applause to Ramdan and his helper. Once again a " Guardian Angel " came to aid our intrepid traveler.
As you say respect the desert. And respect to you Noraly for not taking unnecessary chances. And wow Ramdam and his crew were fantastic. True heroes!!!:)
from my own experience, Moroccan mechanisms always find the right solutions to face any kind of problem. And it's great to show them at work, and simply understand your needs, always with humility. great country.
meanwhile in Europe people would need to wait few days for a free spot, and many car mechanics would refuse work on cheap bikes/cars..
Moroccans are wonderful people , always ready to help .. Wonderful to see how these mechanics put all their time into helping a stranger .

Yes, Moroccans are very kind, generous and kind. Welcome to your second country
Ramdan could do a lot of the stuff you and I were taught in A&P school... bent sheet metal, composite repairs, bondo...
It's not about customer.... these people will help out even if you are not a customer. Why u only see the materiel side of the world.

To the gentlemen who fixed your motorcycle a big THANK YOU for so thorough and quick repairs 👍❗
I'll guarantee you that the repair they did on that airbox is stronger than the rest of the airbox. They used fiberglass on it and once that dries it is stronger than the plastic of the rest of the box. Great video and thanks to Ramadan for his hard, friendly work.

That chain guard is one of a kind! Simply amazing to have a part custom fabricated on the side of the road in Morocco. I hope you keep it as a memento!
I would still replace it with the plastic chain guard. If a rock hits it and bends it enough, it could damage the chain and you’d be stranded.

In this case outside the air box!
True, good mechanic.
Ya these guys can fix things and let you keep going! In rich countries, they only know to replace ... Gosh this Ramdan is a MacGyver
Yeah, in the US they would tell you to wait, weeks or months until the part arrives.
It's painful going to modern mechanics. They never want to repair something, they only want to replace it. So awesome to see a real mechanic.

My country, Morocco, always welcomes its guests, a country of goodness and morals
Always have to think outside the box when on the road.

The drone video with the music background just put me in awe! Amazing views and scenery.

@Donald Dodson no doubt, man!!
Cool story!
I have a favorite breakdown story:
In 1978 I was touring eastern Canada on my '71 Triumph Bonny.
Well done. :)
These Moroccan mechanics are excellent problem solvers and skilled technicians. Alaska has received good care.
That's what I thought too, that repair will be better than a new one.
Same thinking here....The patch (fibreglass?) is stronger than the original abs plastic
I tend to agree, the original plastic was weak, it broke easily. If they cleaned it properly it will not fall apart and only be tested if another rock hits it. -but it could be stronger than it was. 🤞
Noraly's friendly and positive attitude speaks volumes.
شكرا لك من المغرب
If the work Ramadan did in the US or UK it would have taken hours maybe days. They would have told tat parts are not available and you need to replace the whole thing lol therefore it will cost you about 500$ + labor + storage fee and you will still need some new breaks and oil change on top to make your bill around 1000+ lol
Morocco is an amazing place. Unlike South and Central America, where they paint everything with bright colors, in Morocco everything just blends in with the desert. I wish I were still able to ride in places like that.
All these desert towns are great!!!!
I remember Meski, Tamanrasset, Agadez and Gao. I love it! ❤❤❤
What a day , I hope Honda take note of the good service you getting from around the world. Loved the workshops , they get the problems sorted with a smile. The desert is still very full of surprises. Good one Noraly. Stay safe.
If you go to Honda dealership in NL or anywhere expect few days and few hundred $$$ to get that box replaced (of course they don’t repair)

Totally agree, not only they fix, fabricate, do everything for you to keep going , but with a huge smile and a world class Moroccan tea!!!!
