RIP Filipe. You are great
Nice detailed steps, kind of encourages me to rescape my tank! I'm worried about the ammonia spike disturbing the soil would create. How did you control it?
There is no ammonia spikes... The soil was washed, after the root tabs was capped by a small layer of new soil (that doesn't leaches ammonia), water was matured (50%) and also a matured filter... The Ramirezis took 2 days to spawn in this tank.
@@FAAOAquascaping ah I saw that post in Facebook! Hmmmm, I'm getting excited, ha ha!
What you have seen was already the 2nd time in two weeks... 🤣
Btw Filipe, forgive me if I missed it but, what soil are you using? I'm thinking if I should replace my substrate (cheap ang not rich in nutrients) if ever I rescape my tank. Thanks!
This soil is rich in nutrients as well and I place a lot of root tabs before planting. The great advantage on this soil is not leaching ammonia, no extra water changes are needed.
This one is Neo Soil, but there are lot of brands out there that does almost the same. This one price vs quality is very good.
What temp do you keep this tank at?
20-25° C
I am going to make something similar in your honour master.
I miss your art, Filipe Oliveira...
A few months ago I was browsing around some aquatic videos and one of them was yours... The one where your rams had spawn..... It was such a WONDERFULL AND GREAT video that I decided to check out some of you're other videos 😉 and right there and then I HAD TO subscribe to your awesome channel ❤️.... Your sir are a great story teller, and passionate about the hobby!!! Thanks for all the videos you do and God willing the new ones that will come (HOPEFULLY).... And THANK YOU for educating future HOBBYIST!!!!!!
Glad to know! Hope you can find the info interesting and be useful for you.
Each tank is a tank, things can change but the basis are in some of the videos
I feel the same way. I found him through Green Aqua's
channel..... And it has been such a pleasure to get to know him through his own channel!! Great storyteller, a wonderful person, and one of the best aquascapers I have ever seen!!🙌🙏🌿🐟💚
@@marypaigeflynn4512 lol right!?? !! I love green aqua !
I will say it and say it again, Filipe is a master of the art! I highly recommend if your starting out in aquascaping, you MUST subscribe to his channel! His videos and streams are so informative and one of the best on the RUclips circuit! I have learned so much from watching his videos. Each and everyone of them are full of knowledge and tips. I have watch you from the beginning of my dive into the world of aquascaping and have enjoyed every minute of it! THANK YOU!
Thank you so much Mike for your kind words. I try to make my videos in the same way I do my workshops. No scripts, no preparation... Just talk about something in a very natural way.
Best one probably I need to replicate this...
I will come back with an update soon. It's doing 13 months since it was scaped.
Now that is matured, is completely different from this one.
In my opinion... aquaflora plants somehow seems nicer then tropica 🤐
Honest opinion always respected 🙂
As you guys may understand, I will not pronounce myself about that subject. Since I work for the company, they are the best all day long!!! 😉✌️
Great scape and great tutorial.
Was wondering what the fish are that are red on top white underneath with a black line dividing both colors?
Regards Duzzy🇦🇺
my dear friend ..happy years to have health to give us your creations
Warm request..if we can watch a video after setting up for four months !!
thank you very much
greetings from GREECE
I'm gonna save this video, for my next rescaping tank. It's simply beautiful 💚
Thanks and good luck with your new project.
Gracias! Saludos!!!
A beautiful layout Filipe. Even though it is newly set up, it looks very natural. I hope to see updates of its progress. 👍
Thanks John. I will bring some updates later. 👍
Obrigado Jorge. 👍

Dom Filipe! As always, there are no such words to express our gratitude for the work and knowledge that you share. I hope one day you will provide online lessons or FAQ sessions!

I did already some live streaming (not here, different social media) to explain a few stuff and do some Q&A, maybe one day I need to do it here.

That's good... I don't post so often as before but I'm trying to keep up with some videos time to time. 👍
@@FAAOAquascaping and it's OK like this. Do your possible. 👌
Exactly. I'm trying my best but time is a bit short and I can't record and make them when I want... I'm not a full time RUclipsr...I'm just sharing some stuff and trying to explain the most I can.
@@FAAOAquascaping I know, I follow you since long, I went to Portugal once to see lisboa aquarium, I wanted to meet you but you weren't into the country. I have a favor to ask you, if I send you a picture of one of your scape, could you sign it for me? Of course I pay the return. I got a book signed by Diana walstad, a book from windelov, unfortunately I'm to young for Amano San but you clearly marked our time. 🙏
Masterful as always Filipe. :) Love your work :)
Thanks Varun! 👍
I miss you, mate....😢
Can you write what is this CO2 reactor? Maybe you can recommend something?
I'm using an inline CO2 diffuser. It gives a better concentration and no need to inject huges amounts of CO2.
Filipe, do you think sending plants from portugal to brazil is possible to acquaflora/tropica plants?
Don't think so... Exporting plants to Brasil or South America it's very difficult due to sanitary control, import/export certificate and lots of documentation to make it work.
If it was easy, I'm pretty sure both brands would be already available in your market.
Boas, estamos sempre a aprender consigo.
Filipe 🤷🏼♂️🍀🌱 you are the best man,, it is a great job ☺️👍🏻
Thank you 👍
Hello Filipe,
I have noticed that you really like ramirezi into your scapes and you also keep more than just a pair into your tanks.
I didn't know this can work. Do you put a single Male with females?
Depends of the tank size... In my 90x60x45cm tank I had 3 couples at same time. I intend to move my breeding to the 90cm tank very soon and probably I will add 5 couples there. Seems to be crazy, but when they are more in a tank they tend to be less aggressive between them.
Females can be really aggressive too, same as the males when they intend to breed... So if you have space, add a bit more, that will be much better for them.
RIP Filipe
Beautiful tank!!! What sand do you use mix with the gravel?is it Ada la plata?
No. It's river sand... Unbranded.
Hi, Filipe, may i know your feeding regime for this fish? german blue ram tends to be a bottom dweller fish, it always out compete by other nano fish. How to prevent overfeeding but still make sure the rams gt enough food? I currently struggle with feeding the rams. Thank you so much and wish u the best on your future journey
I feed them in the same way as other fish. I give them granulated food, preferably small one. I don't have this tank overstocked and I give them food 2x, 3x a day in small portions.
Such nice one
How horrific for those fish to see only white nothingness beyond the small pile they are living on. That’s so cruel to take and manipulative lives like this because you want to enhance your art……not one living thing on this world is of less worth than people and here is an example of why.
What are you talking about?
I love you🤣
Filipe ❤
@Filipe The inspiration for my tank makeover..So mesmerizing and beautiful scape.
Cheers from Brazil, Filipe! Loved your workshop in GreenAqua, by the way
I believe on Final this Thank cost very expencive ......all plants and hardscape...
Good morning Filipe, I hope you are staying this time 😋😋👊 I love the rescape 👌👌🙌🙌
I was always here... 🤣🤣
Filipe Oliveira That’s good Filipe 🤘🤘
What is the size of that tank.(height, length, and width)
Full setup is in tbe video's description 😉
Lovely aquarium, thanks for sharing Filipe
Hello again Filipe,
What is the names of plants do you have in the back area?
Loved it!!!..Very inspirational for beginners
Super great setup. I love this triangular composition with a lot of open space.
Do you think the result could still be nice with a dark background tank? Or what type of aquascape can you do to get good results with a dark background tank?
Beautiful rescape of your tank! 7:30 I had put the filter as it is to the 15 L container meaning putting the tubings from the filter into the container. Circulating the tank water by the filter would have been the best way to keep the bacteria alive!
I like the layout will try on 45 cm tank.
It's awesome
Fillipe, WOW! Another beautiful scape. I loved watching the way you put this together! Especially the substrate! I really enjoyed watching you explain your process and how you created the "depth" with your planting! I could see what you were talking about! Your beautiful Rams were really highlighted and are so stunning. Are these some of your beautiful little kids?😂 They have grown! 😍
Wow and your camera work. It comes through the screen so Crisp it almost looked 3D! So beautiful! What kind of catfish and plecos do you have in there? All the fish looked amazing! I always thoroughly enjoy hanging out with you and watching you create! I hope you have a very blessed weekend my friend! 🙏🌿🐟🌱💚💞
Hi Mary. Thanks.
No, those are the parents of the fry. The kids are doing great but don't have half of the size of the parents. Soon I will post something about that tank. It was trimmed yesterday.
Thanks for the video.Great one 👍👍👍
Where can we find those plants, is it from the internet?
Amaizing! I love that tank ❤️❤️❤️
beautiful aquascape. I enjoyed this video a lot and I can totally relate!! I finished my rescape yesterday and my fish are currently in a holding tank. the worst part is catching all the shrimps, it took HOURS. now im gonna wait about a week till the tank stabilize to move the fish back in!
It's easy to catch the shrimps too. If you make a space in front of the tank and drain the water slowly, all of them will sucked into a bucket or any other container. Then you just catch them...
Hi, my plants turns yellow. What is the remedy for that? Please explain
If you have good light, the problem may be lack of nitrogen or iron. If the light is not good, lack of light is the real problem here...plants might be dying.
@@FAAOAquascaping thank you.light is ok.
Filipe please change the subtitles because it says that the video is in Dutch and then the subtitles go wrong, put that the video is in English, thank you.
But I didn't change it... The standard language is always English, but I will check what is wrong. Thanks 👍
I think the problem is solved now.
Two lamps? Lots of light, especially since there are not many plants in the tank 🙂 But overall a very nice aquarium.
Not so much plants in the tank? Or you meant not so much high demanding aquatic plants?
I just kept the old setup and since lights are dimmable, I can control the intensity individually of each light.
They are running max 50-60%.
In a near future if I decide to change something, for example, add a carpet to this scape, it's already there, just need to adjust the front light and it's ready to go.
Beautiful ...you r best ...I love your passion ...so inspiring tank..love u sir...keep it up...scape more tanks
Thanks mate 👍
Prodibio Relief Series Gravel
it is nowhere to be found
Just ask to your local fish shop, they know where to find it.
@@FAAOAquascaping I TRIED BUT NOTHING
those german blue rams look so healthy. great job.
Great video, thanks for sharing
Muy bonito, me encanta la composición.
rió
Loving the German blue ram
Really nice scape, and great video
@@FAAOAquascaping Obrigado!!! és o maior!! hehehe
This is lovely. Great work and inspiring! 💚
Wow so beautiful 😍 I like more the new set up. Congrats its wonderful 👍👌😍😍
It's just different... I like to change time to time, use different plants to know with what I'm dealing with for next projects.
The colour of the remirezi is just spectacular ♥️♥️♥️ very beautiful tank indeed sir 😍😍
They aren't on their best color yet, maybe because of the sand... But as soon the tank gets matured, the color will improve.
hello what kind of gravel did you put between the bottom and the sand?
The gravel is Prodibio G series.
@@FAAOAquascaping are they inert? that is, they do not in any way influence the values of the water
@@domenicopizzone5176 it's just gravel with different textures, good for details. Same as sand, but with different sizes.
I love this scape! 👍👍
Super job Filipe. Very much look forward to your videos which are invariably educational and inspiring. No more jokes though!
Well jokes are part of my life... But I will give a try to don't prank anybody so soon 😅😉
The new layout looks fabulous. A much better view of the fish swimming as you said. Can’t wait to see it evolve x
Thanks! I will keep you posted 😉
Always love your video.
Hello,do you use any poster on the background?(like foggy?)
I have a frosty vinil plus an illuminated background. The frosty vinil was already placed when I got the illuminated background, so I let it stay.
One thing that impressed me so much..., You make the tank looks so mature right after the planting. Great job Filipe... Cheers from Indonesia.
Maybe by mixing plants will turn it more natural and matured... But I'm used to build aquascapes from scratch to exhibitions and experience on that does a huge difference in short time 😉
The final layout is beautiful. So, you just added Prime after the planting in order to avoid ammonia issues?. That's a good way to make a compleatly rescape and put fish without delay. Gracias por compartir. Saludos
Prime was because of any chlorine in my tap water because I only have used 40-50% of the water I saved from previous scape.
Awesome setup, to my liking, definitely I will try similar style soon.
I can't see where you planted Eleocharis vivipara, I guess left back corner, looking forward cinematic after a month or two...
It's mixed with Cyperus and Helanthium bolivianum Madagascariensis. I don't want too much volume, just different mixed hairgrass plants to turn it more detailed, sense of depth and natural look.
😂😂 i love this scape! I loved your joke last video!!! 🤣🤣
🤣🤣 It's over now... I'm back 😅😂
Very nice layout/setup you achieved Filipe!! Very clean and spacious for the fish. I really apreciated it! But I have a question: what are those small "pines" that we see in the bottom? Just for decoration?
Exactly just something that I'm trying, same as the brown leaves. A contrast between dead and living nature as we can find in some river stream in the fall.
Using this as inspiration for my stream bed scape. About how many pounds of Black Lava do you think you used for this? I know it's always better to have more material to work with but I'm having a hard time gaging how much to order.
You must check by length x height x depth, use an average and keep 2 liters more for details. This is how it works for every tank. If you want to use just in a corner like my tank, just measure the area you want to plant, how much you want for slope and use math to get it.
I have 15-20cm max slope in the back corner, planted area 70(L)x40(D)x8(H average)=around 22.5L
Just get 25L or 3x 9L soil (27L) if you don't need all, just storage it in the bag, it doesn't get spoiled.
Great tank!
What temperature are you running? Don’t the rams like it relatively hot? They look stunning btw 😄👍🏼
Not really, I'm breeding them between 20-25°. I just have the heater (25° standard, you can't change it) and plug it on when I do larger water changes of 50-80%. During summer is always off... Here in the north of Portugal and close to the sea, temperatures go around 15-25...29 max but just a few days in a year. During winter I keep it on because ambient temperature will decrease to 17-19° at home, but since I use tap water it comes very, very cold. They don't seem to bother... And keep spawning.
Love this Layout....
Parabéns Filipe, lindo tanque. Você usa as luzes na luminosidade máxima? Obrigado
Very nice, probably a lot better than the previous scape to be in the living room because you can see it from the sofa ;) Looking forward to seeing you in Belgium in a few weeks, let's hope it doesn't fall through
Thanks Karol. Let's hope everything goes well and will be possible to travel. I've my flight already booked! 😉

@@FAAOAquascaping dove posso comprarle??
You need to check some stores in Italy. I guess it's from where you're from, right? Acquario Mediterraneo Milano and L'Arca di Zin Fabio usually have them.
@@FAAOAquascaping thanchs
I admire you dude !!!
Very nice scape 😉👍
Hardscape is totally lost under the plants. You had so nice rocks and wood but you hid all of them. Try to emphasize on shapes in next scapes.
Have you considered that I'm more focused on the plants and not really in the harscape?
The harscape is just the foundations where the plants will be placed. Afterwards and when plants start to grow, some harscape will become visible again, because plants must be kept under control. That's the point and always the target in my layouts.
I did in the past lots of aquascapes based on hardscape rather in plants, or a very limited use of species.
This doesn't mean that I will not get back to that... But not now.
Very very nice 👍👍👍👍
Wow, looks great. It is an advantage that you work for aqua flora, planting that densely is kinda expensive and not always doable for me. So I save up and reuse plants but the way you do it is the best and the most fresh/ new Scape possible. I would be a kid in a candy store when I could collect my plants and hard scape the way you do, or George Farmer or Jurijs for instance. Good thing also is to see that you consider your fish as much as the scape. Great hobby it is, stay safe everyone.
It's indeed a great advantage but for example my kitchen tank was rescaped by using the old plants and trimmings from my other tank...I do the same with hardscape, it's use, reused and reused...
I could have used new soil, however I have used the same.
Planting densely is good to avoid algae, if the budget doesn't allow it, we most use floating plants and try to multiply the ones we have to have a bigger plant mass 😉
Love this! I have only just found you and am totally inspired. I was given a tank and planned to keep fish ... I now plan to have an underwater planted scene, with a few fish. Hahaha ...
That's the point of the channel, make the things clear for everyone and try to inspire the most people I can.
Beautiful Scape Filipe!
