Very nice, healthy looking tank happy Fish.
When tank is balanced they are happy. This layout was rescaped because of them instead of doing an aquascape and later select new livestock. Fish for me are like home pets, they will stay till they die.

Absolutely stunning. I often end my evenings to look at different aquascapes.. to cool down and with time in my head create one that I eventually will set up in a 60tank... and this is beautiful ... this is where I want to end up with, thank you!
Triangular shape always give a bit more of space... But in the end if you don't have fish restrictions, do what is more pleasant for you.

My rams only fight when they want to breed or laid eggs. If you have space, also you get the balanced quantity of males vs females, everything will be fine... If you have one female for 3 males, that will be difficult for her and they will be fighting all time. The same happens in the opposite way because females are also very aggressive, mostly when they want to breed. Rams when find the perfect match, they don't change and when one of them die, they don't accept the opposite sex.
Be sure you have more than one couple and space for them. In this tank I had before 3 couples. 1 died, now I just keep 2 couples and they are with each other since the very beginning.

Mine is a 45 gallon tank. Which is 3 feet long. I have 6 rams but frankly I dont know if they are 3 males and 3 females.
If there's imbalance in number of males or females do u recommend adding to get pairs or should I remove the odd ones out?
It's very easy to identify them, head and belly. Females have red in the belly in case of Blue German Blue and the head is rounded. Males have a small concave shape in the head between eyes and mouth, the females have a convex shape in the head. Check my Instagram account to see the differences:

They are there... But plants didn't grow enough yet. 😉
I recently lost a ram to old age. Think I’m going to get another today as this video made me miss him. You should get some plasti dip or krylon fusion and paint the surface skimmer white to hide it in background.
No... I'm not going to paint that. The most I can do is look in the market for something white that will blend with the background. I think Blau has something or maybe another brand... But I have seen it before.

No because I'm using a different top developed by Green Aqua. It has 3 modes and the one with double vertical protection doesn't allow them to get in. But I'm not using this skimmer 24/24h, it's only on 5min for every 15min. In case they get in, they will be able to get out when it's off.

Gorgeous scape Felipe! What type of leaves are those on the bottom and do they disintegrate fast? How long before you have to vac them out? I would love to add those to my kids 9 gallon fluval flex scape with a betta since the leaves do look to big. Thanks for another great video!
I don't know the proper name of these ones because I have got them on my livestock wholesaler. They don't sell them either, but they use it for tannins.
If you don't have shrinks, they will last longer but with shrimps they will definitely eat them. Have in mind this will leave the water completely brown... The only way to avoid that is to boil them a few times and let them rest for a few weeks in a container and change the water a few times a week. Also purigen is needed to keep the water clear, otherwise water will become brownish very soon.
Look for 'botanic Aquatics tannin', I think you can get lot of options for that.

For the moment and since I have used a lot of root tabs, I'm only dosing Potassium 3x a week, just that.

hi Filipe. I love your work. I have a similar personnal tank and have a problem with my external heater. Could you tell me wich heating system do you use for your tank please ?
I have a normal heater, standard eheim 25° 200w heater. I don't trust that much on inline heaters, it's better to have them in the filter in case you don't want to use them in the tank.

Do you have 2 male and 2 female rams in there? I have a 100cm tank with 2 female rams and one male. Do you think getting another male ram would cause problems with agression and territories?
Ps I went to Aquarium Gardens recently and saw your 150cm scape in person, i really like that tank, you did a very good job with it. 👍👍
Females are so aggressive as the males to don't say worse. Having two couples is the best, because they pair for all life and you will avoid any loss. I had 5 but unfortunately the male that was rejected by the other two females died last days. He was just fine and suddenly start to hide and a little bit out of breath. I think he just 'ate more than can chew', probably a Rasbora Brigittae and choked up... Or since both couple spawn a same time they killed him.
Aquarium Gardens are taking good care of that beast. It's not easy to take that under control, but with lean fertilization it can be made. Plants will grow a bit slow but it's much easier to take care of them and control the shape.

Hi, I like the layout. Will one light enough for this tank? I have one 90cm Chihiros RGB A plus for my 100x40x45, I placed it double height of your this light, why do we decide one or two is enough for our tank?
One is more than enough for this scape. I had two from previous layouts and I didn't want to take it from the tank. Both are running at half power, front even less with ramps for 11h.

Any issues running two twinstar 900s? I have one but it seems a bit too dim. Beautiful tank!
None so far but I'm not running them at full power. I have the front one at max of 50% and back at 60%, both with ramps before and after to have the tank balanced. Two stock Twinstar (no dimming) will be definitely too much for such plant's choice.
Have in mind this tank has 90x60x45h cm, if you have a 90x50x50 or 90x45x45, one is more than enough.

Filipe, your tanks are gorgeous as always. I have noticed you use ILA Europe aquariums. What are your experiences with them? Are they built to last? If so - do you know where I could purchase one, and do they ship to other places in Europe?
I use their tanks for years... Quality is amazing, they last like other tanks if you don't break them. 😅
They don't sell to end customers, but depending where you live I can suggest some shops where you can get them.
Some shops in Europe have them to sell.

How do you get your rams to be so bright and full of color? Is it a different variety?
No, just the environment and if you give them the best conditions they will change the coloration, mostly when we have two couples in a tank. They are most of the time showing off and the color pops up!

I’m trying to find material for a similar scape like yours but it’s been hard finding affordable items, and hoping to upgrade to a bigger tank. Yes they do and a lot! I'm using Seachem purigen just to remove it. That was an esthetic test and I don't know If I will add more again.
Filipe, have you seen the Chihiros RGB Vivid 2 lights in person so far? How does it compare to the Twinstar?
I haven't seen it yet live. I've the Twinstar v2 and it's a bit different from ADA Solar RGB and Maxlight. The last two seems to be very similar, Twinstar a bit more warm but I'm waiting to see the new Twinstar series because they said to me that some colors were changed and we have a bit more of green, more cold but not so cold as Solar RGB and Maxlight. But I'm still waiting, maybe next week I will get a copy and I can show in video how it looks like and differences between V2 and V3.
I think you can change spectrum on Chihiros and Maxlight as well, but at Twinstar and ADA solar RGB you can't.
For me it's not a big deal... Some things must be easier, plug and this is it. In Twinstar with external adaptar you can also dim but not in Solar RGB, but who has the Solar RGB doesn't seems to be to worried about that too...

Pleasing to eye. I keep golden ram 2 males and four female in 3 feet aquarium with plants and hiding space. The dominant male attacking all my other rams. Any advice from you how to stop it's aggression. 2nd day after introducing them to my 1year cycled thank
It's normal they behave like that in the first two weeks. Hierarchy must be stablish and they cichlids, a bit unpredictable. Sometimes this problem is not related to males but to females, they can be more aggressive than males.
I had 5 (2 females and 3 males) and for a while they were good, this till when both couples decided to breed at same time. The other male was didn't resist died.
Sometimes the best way is to do a 50% water change and keep lights out for a day to calm them down. But while hierarchy is not defined, as also their favorite spots, this will take a while.
But I suggest to you to keep just 2 pairs.

How do you maintaing tank without snail and shrimp
I have Clithon snails in this tank but I think they don't do any difference at all.
Shrimps I can't have, will be too easy for the Ramirezi, they will eat them all very fast.

The dwarf gouramis usually don't eat the big ones, even if we are talking about neocaridinas. They will control the population by eating small shrimp fry, but shrimps will be able to breed and colony will not stop...
