- Footage shows the habitat of the clear water karst stream of the Rio Sucuri, in the Bodoquena highlands of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. The first few km of the river are clear, having emerged from its source spring nearby and has not yet had time to become turbid from detritus and sediment. The clear waters permit plenty of sunlight penetration which in turn leads to dense aquatic vegetation.
Plant species found here include:
Acrosticum danaeifolium
Bacopa australis
Chara rusbyana
Echinodorus cordifolius
Echinodorus grandiflorus
Echinodorus macrophyllus
Gomphrena elegans
Helanthium bolivianum (used to be known as Echinodorus bolivianus)
Hydrocotyle verticillata (described in literature concerning this river as H. leucocephala but I'm sure that it's H. verticillata)
Ludwigia peruviana
Myriophyllum aquaticum
Nymphaea jamesoniana
Nymphaea gardneriana Planch
Potamogeton illinoensis
Polygonum acuminatum
Polygonum hydropiperoides
Pontederia parviflora

It''s Wonderful... And we learn how should look a natural tank....... Because that's all about..... If a tank îs not even close to something like that it's looks fake.....
These fresh water habitats are incredible. The diversity of flora and fauna is spectacular.
Most beautiful 🎉
the beauty of the natural
Like you were filming in a giant aquarium! Absolutely stunning!
Thank you Lisa!
fascinating red fish. thanks for sharing. I've snorkeled the Caribbean, but the best experience was snorkeling a stream near the Ozarks in Arkansas, USA. This Brazilian habit is so much nicer.
Beautiful shots, beautiful underwater world. We need to remember and record this because the world tends to self-destruct and droughts show us a desert and not life. I greet you and invite you to my place.
The coloration of those serpae tetras is just stunning!
its incredible how clear the water is in these...
The water is so clear at times it looks like the fish are swimming through air.
This is breathtaking.
Congratulations on this being a part of your life 🙂
Thank you! I know I'm very lucky I can explore these places :)
Beautiful nature water world! Amazingly peaceful! That is a silent beauty under water. Thant you for sharing your footage video!
The amount of gas exchange is phenomenal. The plants are sometimes bubbling like small air stones!
Total bliss there, I liked the parts where there were underwater springs and the sand was like lava.
love these films, inspires me so much when aquascapeing, thankyou!
Hey Ollie, thank you, it really makes my day to know people enjoy these and that they are useful and inspiring!
Oh yeah me too
Just want you to know that I drop whatever I'm doing to watch your videos 👍👍😁👌
Hey, thank you so much! That makes me very happy! I am doing a trip next week so I hope to have some more material for you at some point, possibly from the original habitat of the Black Neon tetra :)
crystal clear...... ❤️❤️❤️
absolutely stunning!
warms my heart to feel submerged within this absolute luminous world. 🌱💓🌱
thank you.
What a footage! The endless waves of Myriophyllum and its color with combination of crystal clear blue water is just amazing. And that is only a part of this video. This is a real inspiration. It has to be wonderful feeling to immerse into that world. Thank you for sharing it with us.
thank you for your very kind words :D
Wonderful Video .thank you from Rhineland Germany .
Phenomenal footage! Sharing with all my friends.
I watch people doing aquascapes and that's nice but nothing compares to this, amazing, thanks a lot for this. These videos could be longer and I wouldn't even notice
I love your channel so much!! Thank you!!!!❤❤❤
Thank you very much for your support🤗
I almost feel bad keeping them in aquariums. They're all so beautiful in the wild. You are doing something wonderful by putting in the work to bring this to us.. Your audience..I have subscribed..I can't stop watching..Thank you..
To be fair, most of the fish we have now have been bred in captivity over multiple generations, while they still retain their natural instincts, they likely won't care about where they live and more about how'd they live.
So beautiful natural
Amazing, thank you.
Thanks. Else I will never had a chance to see these.
NICE
Nature is perfect 😍.
Absolutely stunning. I love that you added all the flora and fauna in the description. I'm sure a bit of googling would give the water parameters but that would have been a nice inclusion giving the wonderful work you have already done.
I find the music a perfect make to the strong but relaxing nature of this river.
Thanks Liam! The only issue is that I didn't have kit to measure parameters there and the one I can request from my university out there costs about 20000 USD...so they don't let me borrow it very often! However, in another river I monitored nearby, the water is about ph 7.3, temp about 25/26C.
@@biotopia5319 haha can't imagine why they don't let you borrow it more 😅
Ah those are helpful. Harder water than expected and I wonder if this could be a contributing factor for the Hyphessobrycon Eques looking as red as they are in this system as well as the lower water temperature.
Very nice footage!
like in every aquarium ... EVERYWHERE MOSS :-)
Oh my... Look at that! Absolutely gorgeous! Way more beautiful than any aquarium crafted by human I've even seen, period
great work
Marvelous. Thanks
Amazing!
Amazing 😊
Neat video
dam even the algae looks good. natural spring ftw
Wonderful thank you
Amazing thank you for sharing!
Alisma grandiflorum.
E. macrophyllus :)
Really stupendous.
A Wonderful aquaworld..
Wonderfull! Congratulations!
how our rivers and streams should be
Beautiful !
wonderful videos, brightens my day
Thank you Marko!
That's absolutely amazing
Thank you!
Great video. Amazing!!!
Thanks Rick!
Mesmerising!
Great video I do my tanks natural and my fish act very different
This is amazing footage! I would love to do this myself one day.
What is the red fosh with black spots at 19:30 ?
Its serpae tetra. They are in the aquarium hobby but man those colors are incredible.
@@TallonOver thanks so much. They are a beautiful specimen
wow.
Paradise 😮
PERFECTION!! I guess the only thing missing is the genus and species names over the picture, like in previous videos, but may be because it was so speciose with flora and fauna we wouldn't be actually able to see the video?
At around 4:49 or 4:50
Were those BA tetras ? Or some other species that looks similar?
sometimes i just want to be a little fish in a beautiful, not so large body of water
What are those things in the sand constantly moving it around like at 7:26 in the video
Sometime, often, I think places like this shouldn't be shared and disclosed. the higher percentage of the population doesn't understand how delicate the system is and how even your presence there coming from an urban environment has an effect on it.
you're right, in this case though, the location is an eco-tourist destination, and they only permit 100 visitors per day, in small staggered groups, who must follow a guide closely. For me, I am able to explore more as a scientist, but most visitors are more carefully monitored :)
@@biotopia5319 💯❤️👍
What the name of the large fish that look like Buenos Aires tetras?
Awesome, just wishing these were done in 4k or 8k even :) 😀
The problem is the cost of equipment...maybe one day :)
Salah 1 contoh manusia pecinta Alam selalu menjaga kelestarian nya kaya Indonesia 😊
Nature is best at aquascaping
Please, what is the name of those "bushy" green and red tipped plants?
Hi, they are Myriophyllum aquaticum :)
Amazing Tai ! Damn i wish this biotope would have some apistograma / Dicrossus or any other small chichild , it would make a perfect biotope aquarium material then . Unless you got an idea for a nice ''center piece'' fish from this biotope Tai ?
Hey! Well, the only cichlids I've seen there are Cichlasoma dimerus. But if you had a group of Characidium fasciatum (as stand-ins for C. aff. 'zebra'), they would be a nice central feature and they are wonderful characterful fish. You could also have a group of Corydoras aeneus which are also found here. :)
Lindo demais
Obrigado!
Love this! I've never heard of a karst habitat in South America? Does this mean that the water here is harder than you'd typically associate with Amazonian fish? I don't suppose you know any numbers on hardness and ph in these habitats?
Hey! I don't have hardness but ph is about 7.3, although it's a karst stream, there is so much organic material entering from the forest that it stays quite soft.
@@biotopia5319 thanks I thought I'd found a loophole for hard UK water but maybe not...
Wow! Amazing video footage. Thank you for sharing this. Please keep doing this stuff. I love it. Do you know the Name of the catfish (21:37)?
Hi and thank you very much! I know it's Ancistrus sp., but I will ask my specialist friend here and try to find out the exact species for you :)
@@biotopia5319 Thank you. That's very nice.
The aquatic plants look brownish. Is it dying? Will not be surprised. Still love seeing nature making oxygen.
They are red, which is caused by the strong sunlight :)
Wunderschön ❤️ ich liebe es ♥️
You can see the oxygen pulsating through the water. Look! It's everywhere!
❤❤❤wunderschön ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
What are those large fish?
Salminus brasiliensis, known as "dourado". Large predatory fish. I used to catch them on a chunk of beef heart.
That is the only diversity which works.
@@biotopia5319 interesante, se increíble todo
23:14 What is that red color thing?
Does anyone know the name of the fish at 6:19?
Wow thats amazing! btw whats going on with the substrate at 7:29
Hi, that is water bubbling up from aquifers under ground :)
So few cichlids, you would think they would dominate such a river
There are Cichlasoma dimerus and some Aequidens species here, but they tend to be in the margins. The Pike cichlids are the most common ones.
what is the name of the tatra at 6;40
What fish @6:40? Wonderful video!
Hi, those are Moenkhausia bonita, the 'highland' version. Specimens from the lowlands are not so colourful. You can find a paper about their colour variations here:

:)
5:21 whats that fish
Where was the piranhas at? 😂
Surga para aquascape
Does anyone know the temperature, hardness and pH of that water?
I don't have hardness but ph in these habitats is about 7.3 and temp ranges from 24-26C
God's creations are the Greatest Good 🙏🙇🏻♂️.
Camera pan too fast and jerky.
One of the very few streams like it in the world. They all used to look like this till we destroyed them.
The closest thing to heaven on earth.
This is heaven for aquarium hobbists
I would rather watch this then humans.
I think that's a mark of good character!

Here in Brazil we call it “mato grosso”, It’s very popular in a lot of aquariums
