Also, I have a habit of saying I am Alan Partridge, I know it's I'm Alan Partridge my bad.
can i get some mothers do av m on ther poll lol
Not saying you should react formally to it, but it would be worth seeing, "Richard Madeley has gone full Alan Partridge all week on Good Morning Britain" - the real-life presenter who's very Alan Partridge, ^oo^
You've gotta do Brass Eye at some point!! It was actually spawned from the same show Alan Partridge was -- The Day Today; and before that, the radio show On The Hour. All classic stuff.
@@nellsun2521 he only needs to do peadogedden from brass eye
@@cyberash3000 Nah! I think that's the least consistent episode -- laugh-wise. 'Animals'; 'Drugs'; 'Sex' are all perfection (though After Work Reactions should probably be advised to skip the celebrity-duping segments, as most people in Britain have forgotten who they are now!)
The beauty of Alan Partridge is that everyone has met someone like him in some way
Very true!
Or worse you live long enough too become him
AH- HA!
This is on another planet to Knowing Me Knowing You. It stands on its own. The best sitcom ever.
Thanks bud!
@@AfterWorkReactions Yeah Knowing me Knowing you is weak in comparison.
Agreed 👊🏼💯👊🏼
You're an honorory Brit Josh!! Really impressed how quick you pick up on our quirks & foibles etc., etc. - in other words you just seem to get it! God bless & knighthood must be on its way good sir!!
Thanks guy I appreciate it! Take care.
@@AfterWorkReactions yep, the British passport's in the post - welcome :)
Michael the geordie was a legend on this show always had me in stitches when watched it back in the day
The cook book scene is a gem.
@@pete_90 Aw, lighten up ya stuffy get!

Michael, also does the voice of Meerkat adverts.
I got this series on VHS for my 18th birthday which was 21 years ago and i still love it to this day. An amazing show which needs to be watched a good few times to catch everything
That is awesome this is such an awesome show man! Take care.
Partridge is a legend in the UK,
I live in Norwich and a statue was made of him and put in the city centre a few months ago!
Has the city centre been pedestrianised yet?
Will McAllister haha mostly!
The city mostly is, the people are still mainly eating McDonald's on the floor outside primark.
@@tomryder7535 what about the traders? Do they have access to Dixon's?
@@mcallisterwill It's still there for now, no idea how the trader's are going, used to work on the market, pretty sure most are gone by now, except the ones that sell chips or bacon rolls of course lol
Series 1 is the greatest 6 episode of a comedy show ever.
Thanks bud looking forward to it.
Nah, Series 1 is a good introduction, but there's just a little too much weirdness at times for me. Series 2, however, IS perfection.
As good as this show is, is might be a little difficult at times for non-UK viewers to get all the jokes because of the UK specific reference subtleties. Even perhaps UK viewers under 30 or so might struggle to understand some of the references. Luckily the character of Alan is so strong that the humour comes through his manner and general demeanor to others. Alan is just an absolute shit of a man, and that's really why this show is so funny.
Well along with The first 6 Episodes of Fawlty Towers and The Office UK and Extras....:)
Hi Andrew.
I dare say you are right but I loathe the supercilious, slightly pompous superior persona of Robert Webb, though tbfair having read his early life story I can sympathise a little so have only wayched snippets here and there. I love David Mitchell though and think e is excllent on WILTY...:)
Alan Partridge is great but Fawlty Towers and The Young Ones beat everything else in terms of shorter comedy series (I think only 12 episodes each)
Only fools and horses is the best long running show.
I would highly recommend “Knowing me, Knowing you” because it’s hilarious
Thanks for reacting to this. Partridge is unlike any other character. Chat show, sitcoms, movie, books/audio books, podcast, prime time tea time series. Spanning multiple decades. Partridge is more than just this series
Re: Fawlty Towers, keep your eye on the sign outside the hotel at the end of the opening credits....
Will do bud thanks!
I live 5 mins away from where Fawlty towers was filmed :D
I was just watching this on Netflix a few hours ago.
King of awkward you got it.
The guy that plays Alan Partridge was only 32 at the time 1997
They did an incredible job with the makeup. I was so shocked when I was younger to see what Steve Coogan looked like back then when not made up.
I definitely recommend you keep watching!
Series 2 Episode 2, "The Colour Of Alan" is just a masterpiece. There are 3 scenes towards the end in succession which are so funny I have difficulty breathing. Without giving any spoilers, he has a meeting with a South African guy... attempts to climb over a hotel fence... and finally gives a disastrous presentation. I know none of that sounds funny, but it slays me every time.
giving out spoilers....NO YOU CAN'T!
@@noahswann Well there's no need for that!
@@tomcutts9200 YOU CAN'T!!
Lynn some of these people have come from Stoke!
@@noahswann You’ve done it again! You’ve said it again! Just because he left a spoilery comment! What do you want?!
I live in Norwich, & and we love him😂
Oh I really hope you like this because it is one of the best comedies out there. If you didn't watch _"Knowing Me, Knowing You",_ all you really need to know is that Alan had a brief career with the BBC, having his own show by that name. A shambolic chat show which was cancelled after he killed a guest live on air. Since then, his career has been on the slide such that he is now occupying the graveyard slot on a regional Radio station, and is living in a second-rate hotel on the side of a motorway because his wife has left him.
Don't forget presenting 'Skirmish' his military based quiz show on digital tv channel UK Conquest, saying that though, that was after he had bounced back....
The Michael character, the one with the barely understandable accent, comes from the North East region of England, places like Newcastle. Sunderland, & Gateshead. Nearly everyone from round there talks like that, even I can barely understand them and I'm from there myself lol. There's a couple of very good sitcoms from the 60's & 70's set in that area that are well worth a watch: "The Likely Lads" and its sequel series "Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?"
finally....... Alan Partridge is the best!!!
People used to shout at Chris Eubank for years after this and he never knew why. 😂
The Day Today is an excellent satire which is where I first saw Partridge.
Goooooooooooooooooooooallllllllllll
OMG! YESSS!

So glad you’ve started this series, Alan Partridge is my favourite comedy creation, you should check out the Knowing me Knowing you with Alan partridge series or even watch a couple of clips from it, it’s comedy gold 👍
"That was just a noise" one of my very fave lines ever lol
I love Alan Partridge, and delighted it's on this channel. But I am not sure it travels as well as the other shows. A lot of the references are so "English" that you have to have grown up here to relate to them. Same with Extras but to a lesser extent.
Near the end of the episode when he's outside the house, the way he effectively creates an argument during his own fictional scenario is classic Partridge lol
I love how you get the British sense of humour, keep it up buddy! Love your videos 🤣
Cant believe I'm only just finding your channel. Been binge watching it for past couple days. Great stuff team keep it up.
❤ from New Zealand
Just as a background there was a talk show. A parody one he did called knowing me knowing you with alan partridge. That's why he keeps going on about a second series. Worth looking for it my dude. Anything that can go wrong...does 😂😂😂
Hope your American friends aren't going to be too confused when you start randomly shouting "A Haaaaa!!!" at them now.
The one where he meets a superfan is amazing.
No way you big spastic, you're a mentalist!
That is this series right? I agree that is such a brilliant episode.
LOL I have picked up a few sayings and words by now lol so I will probably pick that up too =]
Hilarious possibly my favourite episode of anything ever.
The super fan one I mean.
The only thing you need is the end of the " Knowing Me Knowing YULE" Christmas special to see why he is off TV and reduced to early-morning radio. Purely for context, otherwise the show stands on its own.
Incidentally "Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank" at the 6:00 mark became something of a meme in the time since this was aired. There were even signs in crowds at WWE shows. Eventually Eubank (a famous English boxer, bit eccentric) actually did an advert for a hostel a few years ago.
Awesome bud thanks for the info!
ruclips.net/video/iGG5OhEcpOQ/видео.html
classic British understatement, referring to Chris Eubank as a 'bit eccentric'.
My man, you are my favourite reaction channel and you continue to choose some of my favourite shows, yay more bedtime viewing.
Lovely stuff!
Agreed. 👍

You should have watched KMKY. It's not necessary, but it builds the character and you see how he's developed
At 9:20 you are absolutely right, Steve Coogan claimed that to create new jokes for Alan he just needs to remove the filter from his head and just say out loud everything that comes into his mind
Your laugh is infectious haha, keep smiling brother 🤘
This is a great series, also Knowing Me, Knowing You which I hope you do afterwards. Some great moments in that one.
This and Fawlty Towers, good stuff !
Aw yes!! Here we go, this is exactly what I wanted to wake up to 😂😂
So glad you’ve started this, you won’t look back mate!
I was waiting for this
"Knowing Me, Knowing You" is a great show and the foundation. I would think it's hard to get the references etc without having seen it first. Still good though.
The Day Today, where he comes from (TV-wise) is amazing. As is Brasseye.
absolute legend for doing this mate, happy new year!
Partridge is king. 🙂
Try Red dwarf out.. the wilma flintstone clip
One of the best British comedy series! (series 2 might be even better).
Pure excellence.
I agree, series 2 is even funnier. I know a lot of people tend to prize series 1 as the definitive Partridge on account of how dark it is, but series 2 with Sonja, a greater emphasis on Michael, and Alan kinda/sorta (not really) bouncing back is somehow even funnier to me.
A Partridge is a man with no filter! You hit the nail on the head!
i encourage you to watch the "Knowing me knowing you" series, he's a fantastic talkshow host!
And so it starts! Thanks man, I've bugged you for months for this!
It started, like, 5 weeks ago :-D We've all been watching him react to the full eps on his Patreon. You should join, it's like £4!
This is awesome, i love watching videos with you man, even when im out walking. Its a pleasure man.
Can’t believe u guys are on 80k been subbed since 3k!!
100% should have watched 'Knowing Me, Knowing You', its really funny and there are several callbacks to it in the further Alan Partridge shows.
Alan spoke for all Americans when he first encounters Michael the Geordie
The Alan Partridge audio books are brilliant too!
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You've finally watched this!!!!!! Love you man.
Love your videos Josh, it's great the way you've taken to British comedy, you're a real gentleman, an honorary Brit. On a more serious note I see covid is spreading like mad over there, hope you and your family and everyone else stays safe and well!

Yeah you pretty much nailed it. Also having done a bit of work in local media can also confirm not that far off reality.
Alan is a legend
This series is amazing 👊🏼💯👊🏼
Alan is super funny, what a genius, Steve Coogan is, but his writing partner for, Alan was " Amando Ianucci " and I believe another, but can't recall his name 😬
Of course everything with the character of Alan Partridge is fantastic but there is so much stuff. For the chat show that came before this, and led to his "demise" I'd suggest if you just watch the final episode, the Christmas special, Knowing Me, Knowing Yule you'll get the gist. Otherwise if you were to do it all from the beginning you'd need to start with the radio show he appeared on first, On the Hour and it would take some time to work through (the modern series are something to look forward to too though).
Finally!! Thanks
It's definitely worth watching more. He's one of these characters who gets better the more you get to know all of his weaknesses and foibles. A lot of references are exclusive to a UK audience and particularly of a certain age (being filmed back in the 90's), which would make it impossible for an international audience to get. Stick with it, I'm fairly sure you'd enjoy it the longer it went on and also I would love to watch these all again.
I hope you enjoy the show! The Day Today and Knowing Me Knowing You are good. I also love listening to the audiobook of Alan’s autobiography, it adds another layer to the shows.
Check out Simon Greenal on RUclips. He plays Michael so well. He's actually got a Queens English accent. Great video as always👊
Oh! And FYI every episode was filmed in front of a live studio audience, no laugher tracks. If the room has 4 walls they had cameras set up from multiple angles for the audience👍
You got his personality spot on - it gets funnier as you learn more about him and how hopeless he is
much of the humour of AP comes from knowing his character and noticing the little nuances and ticks, it's why the show really warrants rewatching. i've probably watched each episode about 50 times, mind you...
Awesome!! my favourite show! :D
Not to sound like an advert but this guy's patreon is fucking amazing, i just joined it today and there's like 70+ hours worth of peep show, alan partridge, only fools and horses, fawlty towers, the office, blackadder, red dwarf, inbetweeners reactions on there for $4
It does get better and better, keep watching!
Yes finally, more partridge
Yeah should have watched Knowing Me Knowing You first. Especially the 6th episode and the Christmas one. Really puts all of this into context better.
YES!!! One of the best.
Hi, Josh. You should check out “Famalam” - a Black-British Sketch show; in particular “Coming Out To Your Auntie,” and “Idris Elba Can Do Anything”. And “3 Non Blondes”, a hidden camera sketch show.

You should watch knowing me knowing you , you'll see why ends up in a travel tavern on a very minor radio show.
Josh! So glad to see you move onto Partridge 😁 Though always a bit concerned it might not translate to a non-British audience so well.
My tip for you is that every time he references a British name you've never heard of, it's basically ALWAYS some arbitrary minor celebrity. A recurring name that comes up a lot is Bill Oddy, a beardy angry little man who is known for his bird watching documentaries. The fact that he for some reason keeps trying to contact Alan is quite comically random.
I like how he plays out scenario's in his head like inviting people over to his house and it ending up in an imaginary argument over the food
I just hope you get all the way to the bedroom scene, too too funny. Good on ya for trying everything Josh and good to see you seem to be enjoying most of it :)
We just like watching people in awkward situations, and Alan is the absolute king of awkward
Knowing Me Knowing You was a parody of a chat show so just watching the first episode would give you an idea of Alan's previous career without leaving any unfinished plot lines. This show is almost documentary style and a very slow-burner. You get to know the character and his lack of self-awareness straight away but it's not "in your face" physical comedy or punchlines really. Just Alan and his unfortunate mix of entitlement and victim hood.
Awesome - fawlty now Alan - brilliant
Thanks bud!
Another classic series to add to your repertoire
He's made it to peak comedy
This is the scene setter introducing the context and characters. You will find you'll get drawn in and laugh at the cringe and how he tries to keep himself busy and regain his former glory with more and more awkward scenarios. Watchout for the 'lady boys' in Ep. 3 😂. His delusion of grandeur and inappropriate treatment of people is very funny as he's so unaware. This was a forerunner of David Brent and 'The Office' - a mockumentary following a self-absorbed hapless dreamer (which we like to laugh at here in the UK) 😃
The most endlessly quotable character in British comedy
Never say Alan again, is my favourite one of these in this show.
The new girl at reception played a recurring character in Veep.
Michael is a Geordie, which is what people are called from Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England. We talk quite quick with quite a bit of slang, although Michael's accent is a bit more exaggerated so a lot of it flies over people's heads for comedy value. Haha!
Super glad you have now met Alan Partridge. You will love and hate him at the same time. Watch out for his relationship with Lynne LOL
Thanks bud, he is hilarious I am enjoying this show alot so far =]
Oh, you're going to have a good time.
Are you just being a bit camp?
I absolutely love you man and adore you videos. Please reply thay will cheer me up
My favourite comedy along with The Office (UK)! Nice!
Watching this from Norwich. Yarmy.
Best Partridge Episode = To Kill a Mocking Alan
YESSSSS
Partridge is genius :D
You should react to Mid Morning Matters after this, it's another series about Alan Partridge
Alan Partridge is like a mixture of various local radio station DJs and daytime TV hosts- the vefry worst aspects of them, combined! You're right about the no filter (Steve Coogan has said that his character, Alan is like him if he had no filter). It's cringe comedy that incredibly accurately pokes fun at terrible daytime TV hosts and local radio DJs. It's also fun to laugh at a character as vain and crass as Alan Partridge!
Once again, because Josh is terrible at promoting his Patreon, I'll do it for him! He's just posted S1 E5 of I'm Alan Partridge on his Patreon - all the vids are full reactions. It's only 4 quid, come and join us!
