Only beat this game using a Game Shark cheat device once. This game was such a grind. Because it was the first JRPG for the PlayStation, I had to get it. The only thing that stood out to me about this game was the music, honestly. Not that it was some great OST, but it stood out compared to the rest of the game.
I agree. The game would've been half the length if it hadn't been so padded out with random encounters. I thought the soundtrack was the high point, too, but it was far from Sakuraba's best.
I had never heard of this game before. It surely borrows a lot from my beloved Shining Force series, and after some research, sure enough they were made by the same company.
I didnt watch part 1 but damn these sound effects n music sound just like Golden Sun! "Damn even the combat looks spot on the same" "edit 2 googled it. Yup its camelot no wonder"
If you think this looks like Golden Sun during combat, look up "Shining the Holy Ark" for the Saturn. It's eerie how similar those 2 look in art style, right down to the lighting and character designs.
Oh my God this game! One of the first PS1 jrpgs and one of the worst! Fights every 3 steps, Samson and the cursed scarf that took so long to get rid of he was weaker than a healer and under level. Secret characters that were weaker than the boss encounters to get them. And a super weak ending. I had to finish the game because I had nothing else to play 😂😂😂😂
Haha it blew my mind that Annie ended up being a total tank. A white mage that maybe weighed 90lbs soaking wet didn't flinch when taking a hit that would instantly KO Samson. At least Lorele saved the roster a bit toward the end.

I can't believe you played through this whole ass game just in time for me to choose to take a nostalgic trip back down memory lane.
Here's the concluding half of my Beyond the Beyond playthrough! Is it just me or does this game feel a whole lot longer than 20 hours?
Wow! How did I miss this game back in the PS1 days?
I played this game as a kid. This game could have been a great game if not for the random encounter system.

You gotta try suikoden 2, that’s the best one in my book!
Man, it's really weird seeing these small numbers at such late game lol
Brought a 2-Parter in, when are you gonna do Golden Sun?
