It's actually very impressive how they managed to make this game run somewhat well on a PS2

The way they did was actually toned down the resolution, I remember that this game had a lot of aliasing on the ps2

One thing I always liked to do in this games was to pick the Ford GT and go for the big sprints in the desert and hit the hills around the track just right so I could flip the car sideways and land again in the track

I used to do the same but I'd sprint to the hills with nitro on and watch my ford gt flip and total XD
I never got to play the ps2 version of ProStreet, I only got to play the DS and 360 versions, and also one of my favorite nfs games.

lucky you, the Ps2 version is just crap, inputting in game cheats too much equals corrupted savegame and have to start all over again

Also instead of 4 racers in ps2, ps3 and xbox 360 played up to 8 racers on the track.
Also poor original xbox that didn't have game support after 2005, while ps2 game support until 2010. One of that game is rapala pro bass fishing.
They used car Engine sound files used in NFSU2 and I noticed it mostly with the Nissan 240sx (Ryan Cooper's Car) because if you play Need For Speed Underground 2, you will notice the 240sx in that game has the EXACT same car sound used in ProStreet
And the gearbox whine is from Most Wanted

In my opinion, the sound of the PS2 engine is better than the other versions(PC, PS3...)
Is less realistic
and a good chance of corrupted save after inputting too much cheats

I turn autosave off so I don't lose or corrupt my game whenever I use the cheat: unlockallthings
I remember hating this game as a kid when it first came out. Then years later I played the 360 version and really enjoyed it, even though it has a weird handling model where in the really powerful cars you somehow understeer and oversteer simultaneously.

Second favorite for me, above that, is Hot Pursuit II for PS2
i think this game would have been much more acknowledged if the player got introduced to speed challenges much earlier in the story.
the feeling of speed was so good in them. totaling a car felt so god damn unforgiving, but creating a car that could handle 400 km/h while managing to stay on the road was even more rewarding.
tuning had also actual impact on the cars performance. it impacted the car's behaviour so much that it's maybe the single nfs of the series where it's actually worth spending a lot of time in tuning.
2 curious things about AI's engine sound:
1 - Its engine sound doesn't have rev limiter sound like Player's.
2 - Its engine always sound slightly different and better.
In the Wii The A.I have rev limiter sound like player car

The theme giving the different vibe is really unique on it's own, tuned cars on closed circuit racing.

Almost every car in the game has the Straight Cut Gears (the white sound. The engine sound is only on the GTR. Which isn't on the game. Unless PC modding, of course)

I had the ps2 version. I liked it although the speed challenge races always gave me trouble. I really liked the drift and drag events though
Those are the best in this game, especially if you use a Toyota Corolla AE86 for drifts. That car loves going sideways....
Looks like I'm the only one who find an infinite satisfaction when crashing in the Nevada speedway with a fastest Sprint car.

I think this is a good example downgrading the game so it can run in the ps2 engine. You still got the same vibe as the ps3 ver.

Xbox 360 version is pure perfection for me. Good controls, more cars than the PS2 version, best graphics from all console versions and, well, what can i say except "Ryo Watanabe is actually possible to beat in this version".

This is my favorite Nfs game but I still wonder why people hate it! Is it because of the driving physics or something? I never got bored of it because of my hunger of designing cars and earning enough money to upgrade them. Now that I lost my PS2 I downloaded one for my PC for free and it's so great to relive my childhood
i guess people disliked it because it abandons the story aspect from the games before it and went for more of an arcade-game approach
this game is in my top 5 favourite nfs games ever, up there with carbon, u2 and most wanted for me.

This game (ps2 original version and not emulated version) ACTUALLY looks decent for a 6th gen console that came out in 2000 and has less power than the original XBOX and GameCube

The most realistic NFS for sounds of the car

I still have this game, Carbon and Underground 2 on my Wii and they are so fun.
And actually I don't mind the graphics, if you put your car with glossy colors there you get the reflection these versions were lacking. That's probably the only way to "boost graphics" on PS2 and Wii without mods and emulators and I think Carbon is still ok today but in the lowest end of what's considered acceptable graphics nowdays. Actually runs rwally good on the Wii but props to the PS2 getting almost an identical Wii version.
Usually when that happens is because the Wii is playing and old gen game or an early one, but this time it looks like they really tried to make it look good and not take a PS2 version, add some filters and call it a day.
While for Carbon Wii is clearly better

why ps2 car sounds are better than pc cars sounds?
The PS2 processes a lot less audio so the car engines are clearer. Even with the highest engine setting on PC, they are still muffled, just like in Undercover. Guess that's "realism"
@@justabbygal4777 wtf you talking about, the sound is aggresive, you can hear the echoes in the surroudings, especially in zones where you are between 2 tall walls or big tunnels and the sound is more realistic acording to the car.
Its so weird. Ive only played the PC and Ps3 version of prostreet and so I am used to that. The sound is so much different compared to the PC version. It sounds more like underground 2.

I didn't know PS2 prostreet had only 4 racers per race and no animated crowds during racedays. Plus they didn't even get any DLC cars. But I wish EA implemented that blurring on use of N2O and those sense of speed lines...
What widescreen fix did you use? Also what is the game's region - PAL, NTSC...?
I'm using PAL version mate (you can go to PCSX2 forum to download the widescreen patch)..

I have the PS2 version, only the problem with is the PS2 game is not responding with the controller input, even though I have a controller plugged in all the way. It is a PS1 controller with analog sticks I used for my PS2. Even when I cleaned the PS2 disc read lens, the PS2 NFS Prostreet game still did not respond.
Lmfaoooo altho this was 4 years ago ps1 controller will not worth with modern ps2 game you have to have a dualshock controller
