Well, Holorifle is probably one of the most cost-efficient high damage energy weapons. After all it deals 105 damage per MFC. I used mostly it during my first playthroughs. In comparison, number 1 and number 2 in the list deals only 35 per MFC. Number 3 deals pathectic 22,5 damage per MFC.

The Tri-Beam sounds like it’d be better in almost every metric than the Multiplas due to the convergent effects of Laser Commander and the various other Crit related perks.
Yeah but the list just looks at the DAM number. Not the DPS, not how good it is as per utility. For example: I would swear on everything holy that the unique GRA recharger pistol the Hyperbreeder is probably in the top half of the list. This is because it out reaches the sonic emitters range, doesn't eat up ammo like Pew Pew, and isn't locked behind the worst DLC like the Holorifle. Like as the video even says. I would be hard pressed to find someone that actually thinks the Tesla Cannons are a good weapon outside of gimmicky things like only using OWB weapons in OWB, so you're limited in the scope of what you can use. But because Tesla Cannons hit like a truck they got the #3 slot and would have taken up multiple if he didn't lock it behind weapon class.
Unfortunately, you're correct, which sucks because the Multiplas is probably my favorite looking energy weapon in the game. At least there's a really fucking good mod that rebalances it into a worthy alternative to the Tri-Beam
I genuinely understand the reasons for why one would dislike Dead Money (I even at least partially agree with some of them)--but Elijah is simply one of the absolute best-written, best-acted characters in video game history, and his presence throughout the DLC makes it IMO the best in-series, without even considering materially "powerful" things like the Holorifle and the Sierra Madre chips.
Dead Money is my favorite DLC of any DLC for any game. I seriously love the story. Actually, I'm considering getting the Ace card with the praying skeleton with a bullethole in the head as a tattoo on my arm.
yes dead money is one of the good examples what a dlc can add to a game. but one of the best ( if not THE best ) dlc´s is blood an wine/witcher 3. it adds more than most games vanilla brings in the first place.
It's a pain in the ass to play, but I have to admit the story and characters are very compelling. It is my favorite of the 4 DLCs, even if the gameplay can be aggravating.
The holorifle is probably the best overall energy weapon in the game with the reinforced components bug max charge cells are basically free damage with no downsides
Loved this video! Don't discount the plain old vanilla laser rifle; with all three mods, you've got a he'll of a workhorse that's easy and cheap to maintain, has great ammo efficiency, and can dish out a surprising amount of damage; it can even snipe reasonably well with the scope attached.
@@sneakysteve9942 no the q35 is not just a plasma rifle i think you need to look at it's stats more. it fires faster, uses up less plasma rounds, has higher crit damage, has more item health, does more dps. saying it's just a plasma rifle is saying it is exactly the same as any other plasma rifle. that's like calling the all american a standard marksmen carbine.
It seems like Cadeo hasn’t actually done a EW build run, because this list is all show and no substance. Including the plasma caster but not the Q-35 is a mistake only someone who looks at the wiki alone would make.
Gotta love me that Gauss! I believe there's a mod, or at least a way to fix the weapon with a mod, that removes the graphical effect which causes the VATS bug. There was in Fo3, at least, and I believe the same fix works in New Vegas. Always loved the energy weapons in Fallout, even if I usually start with "small guns" and exclusively use pistols and sniper rifles until I can get my blasters. =3
On my current play through of fallout nv, I chose the alien blaster. I could’ve chosen the YCS/186, but I had bought the Spetralwood-9700, and I didn’t want to use ally of EC packs. Though they respawn from Gloria, I was intent on using the unique Gatling laser, and didn’t want to run out Of the ammo quick. I use the Anti-Material rifle instead.
I may have misread your reasoning behind not using the YCS, but you could technically use both since the YCS uses MF cells, not ECPs. Not to discount your decision to use the Alien Blaster, but just to make you aware in case you didn’t know :)
Where is MF Hyperbreeder Alpha on the list.? The best backup energy weapon and extremely powerful. Or laser rifle with all mods as a sniper rifle. That's my favourite set
I fully agree with this. Both weapons are outstanding. Two of my favorites.
4 года назад+13
Yup. If you're looking for a one-size-fits-all weapon, you can't go wrong with the fully upgraded vanilla laser rifle. With equipment like Boone's Beret and Ulysses' Duster, mad luck perks and laser commander, headshots usually ash deathclaws. "It's dead" is all the base damage I need. Long range scope. Decent fire rate. No recoil. Long magazine life. 1mf/shot. Easy to get/recycle ammo. Just endlessly practical and ruthlessly efficient. The Laser Rifle+.
Because this list is only about pure damage, not about utility. While every Energy Weapon user will tell you the Hyperbreeder is the best EW Sidearm in the game, it's damage is rather low, which is all this list is looking at.
Laser Rifle with beam splitter and focus optics is king in my book. It's so easy to acquire, efficient as hell, starts off strong and only gets better as you progress. I don't even feel the need to utilize the scope most of the time these days, but it's still a nice option to have.
The YCS/186 is absolutely amazing for sniper characters as its ammo availability is way higher than the anti material rifle, and its damage is comparable making it the ideal weapon for any stealth inclines energy specialists. Additionally, with the right gear, perks, and special points you can get a 50% crit chance or 60% if using light armor with the light touch perk.
One note about the Pew-Pew you left out is the fact that it is considered an advanced holdout weapon (meaning you need a sneak of 50 or higher to use it as a holdout weapon) making it the single most powerful holdout weapon in the entire game, and probably the only holdout weapon capable of one-shotting enemies in most areas where you'd be stripped of your weapons in the first place (especially if you have high level energy weapons skills & laser/energy related perks).
The spread of the tri-beam has always been tight. Missing in VATS causes the crazy spread to make sure you actually miss. And since enemies are just rolling to hit for every shot, like when VATS is used, when they miss, it is an incredibly bad miss.
The YCS/186 with the right build is the most powerful weapon in the game with over 1000 damage per shot and a ridiculous dps aa well. Also I never knew Tri-Beam had mods for it damn.
When I first played New Vegas with the Expansions, my first one was Honest Hearts, also my favorite, and on my way to the quest, I ran into a merchant. Figured 'eh, sure , I'll buy this Tri Beam laser, see how good it is" and the. Also bought all the mods for it, because I got lucky with this traveling merchant. And , boy oh boy, did my opinion on energy weapons change..the feeling of disintegrating enemies that have shown they can and will one shot you, is exhilarating. So along with my .44, hunting rifle, and medicine stick, you bet I always grab one of those bad boys on my way to Zion, to show those white legs , the power of THREE lasers.
sprtel-wood 9700 is one of the best energy weapons in the game. it does burn through ammo really quick, like most gattling lasers, however, so i would only use it in hard situations. otherwise i use elijah's advanced LAER as a primary weapon, the MP hyperbreeder alpha for easier enemies, due to its decent damage, and its lack of a need for ammunition, and the YCS/186 for sniping people
I love how RUclips's timestamp for Euclid's C-Finder is "Euclid Seed Finder". The Holorifle is "Hollow Rifle"; then there's "Elijahs Advanced Lair", the "Tesla Beat" and the "MultiPlaza". I'm dying.

Hard to say. Being a die hard fan I would have to say.. give me the fully upgraded, yet simple, Laser Rifle; you’ll always get a critical when the scope is equipped (and if your hidden), and you use less ammo per shot. Can’t go wrong :)
Not a powerful energy weapon but a very fun one to use, the Compliance Regulator is a variant of the laser pistol that can paralyze enemies in 2-3 shots. It's basically a taser gun if you want to play a wastelander cop or something.
If you are okay with using mods, Weapon Mods Expanded allows you to install laser rifle mods to the AER-14 Prototype found in Vault 22. To this day, it is my all time favorite sniping weapon thanks to the scope mod. The sheer critical sneak damage alone often results in most enemies being disintegrated on the first shot.
in terms of DPS id have to go with the gatling laser with the focus optics mod, laser commander perk, and Over charge ammo (as well as some other perks and companion bonuses) which should equate to around 900+ DPS
You missed the strongest energy weapon in the game. Sprtel-Wood 9700 is the unique gatling laser and has probably the most DPS out of any gun in the game. With a flat dps of 600 with the right perks, once you include the fact that the perks Light Touch, Laser Commander and Set Lasers for Fun add critical chance AFTER critical modifiers, that means you can get around 20% critical chance with this super fast hitting weapon doing crazy dps. (the highest I think) or I am missing something here!
you know this list kinda proves my issue with energy weapons. the early energy weapons like laser rifle and pistol and base plasma is weak compared to guns. but the end game energy weapons are always super freaking strong like wtf . thats a power curve
There’s a mod that returns the C-Finder to its intended glory. It doesn’t use the wimpy narrow laser anymore, it uses the massive laser used in the defense test.
Don't know if it's been patched out or not, but the bug I have with the Mod for the Holorifle that effects its durability actually makes it so that; if you keep using repair kits on it, you'll actually increase the maximum health of the weapon, meaning that with each use of a repair kit, the Holorifle is able to be shot more times before it breaks. This _is_ on the Xbox 360 (yes I have that version) and for me makes the Holorifle one of the most handy energy weapons for my respective energy weapons builds.
I like using the Holorifle (Max Charge MFC), Compliance Regulator (Bulk SEC) and the MF Hyperbreeder. Holorifle using Max Charge does great damage while being efficient with ammo, Compliance Regulator's damage doesn't matter since it's critical effect is what's important so bulk is fine, and because it's a Laser weapon it crits very reliably. And the MF Hyperbreeder does decent damage for not using ammo, great for clearing out fodder that you don't want to waste ammo on. If I had to pick Energy Weapons as my one weapon skill these are the weapons I would use.
The wcx made me actually put points into energy weapons for the first time not a fan of ashing my goes so I love this one for not getting rid of the glorious mess
I did an mad scientist where I only use energy weapons (melee and unarmed optional). I had almost all the energy weapons in this list. I had a BLAST with my playthrough ⚡
I just use the regular lazer rifle with the mods. Its a damn good weapon with OC rounds and really can take out 80 to 90 percent of the enemies in the game
Really think the Q-35 should've at least had an honorable mention. Good durability, ammo efficient, good DPS, and it had a decently long range with the accelerated projectile speed.
Hah, yeah. I loved this gun. Id use it with rushing water, fast shot, and atomic! paired with some coyote steaks and it was almost an automatic plasma riffle. I could sneaky insta crit-kill nearly anything, even on very hard. Later on, the accumulation of goo piles caused my file to crash in the late game 😅 The only problem with energy weapons in NV
Base damage can be read of a Wikipedia article, going into things like durability, DPS, accessibility, crits, ect, and basing a list of that is more personal and accurate as to a weapons quality

You can't get the YCS/187 and alien blaster in the same playthrough without console commands or mods. Switching the trait at the auto-doc does not magically reset a one time event. Even if you switch the trait you are still stuck with the encounter that the game has already loaded, the game does not reset that area, just because you switched traits. I even tested this out before commenting, and confirmed that the event does not change.

@@Geelar I agree with you that being an orbital strike marker the damage should be way higher. But probably the developers tweak the damage down so you wouldn't go against Lanius and just "boom" him with it. True, there is still the Fat Man and ton other ways to do the same thing (especially with the DLCs Lanius is more a joke than anything in the end), but pretty sure that was the intention in the vanilla game when it comes to this gun. Still, I love to use it in specific situation, like when you are in the Hoover Dam battle and come across the legion or NCR covering behind the sandbags barriers, love to use it there either to kill them or knock them over the dam with the blast ;)
The C-Finder should have the same power as the archimedes defense system beam, so it wouldn't be completey useless and broken.
If you're on PC, this mod buffs the C Finder considerably (x10 to be exact).
Despite ammo being rare once you actually dump skill points into energy weapons and take critical, vats, and of course energy weapon perks they become the most over powered broken shit in the game

Also, no matter the durability level, the holorifle never jams
Exactly. I'm not a fan of videos where its direct damage comparisons and no mentions of the other perks weapons carry. Holorifle is better than all of the weapons he listed ahead of it

Exactly. If you're going to war, you may wish to bring something else, but if you're doing regular ome-foe-at-a-time killing, nothing beats the Holorifle.

My favorite was the fully upgraded laser rifle with a high luck crit build. Large magazine and fire rate just makes it a crit machine.
"Onomatopoeia in handheld form" good one caedo.
The LAER is impressively inaccurate, never have I had a rifle that actively hates me and tries to get me killed
I had just started a new playthrough Fallout New Vegas where I was going to be an energy weapon wielding female maniac. Thank you lmao!
The holorifle is probably the best overall energy weapon in the game with the reinforced components bug max charge cells are basically free damage with no downsides
Loved this video! Don't discount the plain old vanilla laser rifle; with all three mods, you've got a he'll of a workhorse that's easy and cheap to maintain, has great ammo efficiency, and can dish out a surprising amount of damage; it can even snipe reasonably well with the scope attached.
what about the unique multiplas rifle you can find at robco? you know, the one that fires much faster than the original
yurgon 99999 The q-35 is just a plasma rifle
At Repconn? That thing’s awesome.

There are 2 Elijah's LAERs in Big Mountain, I just forget where I found the other one.
One is at the Little Yangtze watch tower. The other is atop the signal hills transmitter. Hope this helps!
My favorite. Great damage and very fast shooting

I really love how you handle your top ten videos, telling people where to go to get their weapons and stuff. I can see you going far man!
So along with my .44, hunting rifle, and medicine stick, you bet I always grab one of those bad boys on my way to Zion, to show those white legs , the power of THREE lasers.
sprtel-wood 9700 is one of the best energy weapons in the game. it does burn through ammo really quick, like most gattling lasers, however, so i would only use it in hard situations. otherwise i use elijah's advanced LAER as a primary weapon, the MP hyperbreeder alpha for easier enemies, due to its decent damage, and its lack of a need for ammunition, and the YCS/186 for sniping people
I swear by the YCS when doing Energy Weapons builds. Pull that puppy up, pop some Optimized MFCs into it, and watch the bodies fly.

I've been playing New Vegas for a few weeks now, most of my builds are energy weapon focused, perfect timing :-D
Not gonna lie, my favourite energy weapon is the bulk standard laser rifle, with all upgrades, and GRA optimised ammo.
in terms of DPS id have to go with the gatling laser with the focus optics mod, laser commander perk, and Over charge ammo (as well as some other perks and companion bonuses) which should equate to around 900+ DPS
(the highest I think)
or I am missing something here!
you know this list kinda proves my issue with energy weapons. the early energy weapons like laser rifle and pistol and base plasma is weak compared to guns. but the end game energy weapons are always super freaking strong like wtf . thats a power curve

If you repair it to max before applying the mod, it also gains infinite durability
@@doomdoomd9368 Found that out by accident, believe it or not. Being able to use MC ammo for no cost feels amazing.
