Had the M7, M8, and the 10. Loved them. Btw, the M8 was an early adopter of the QC fast charge protocol, it would fast charge at 18W. If you have any of their old charge blocks laying around they will happily fast charge a modern Motorola, LG, or Samsung - all of which encompass the QC standard (you'll need an A to C cord of course). HTC were true pioneers, they manufactured the Pixel 2 for Google. Then Google bought the HTC engineering division, and the spirit of HTC lives on in the Pixel (a)-series phones.

    • @thosko98
      @thosko98 10 месяцев назад

HTC didn't have anything to do with the Pixel 2, but they did manufacture the OG Pixel. You can kinda tell the OG Pixel is basically a HTC phone as it shares a lot of design language with HTC phones.

I bought mine in 2014 . I'm still using it today as a primary phone . I have replaced the battery two times . Average battery life is about 3 years . It's a bit of a pain to replace the battery since I had to disassemble the phone . It is sandwiched between the main board and screen . Other than that , it has proved itself to be a great choice . This is my first smart phone . Too bad the new HTC company is trash .

Literally the greatest phone of all time. And so AHEAD of it’s time it was ridiculous . The FEEL of that ice cold machined aluminum back in your hands. Those incredible ffs stereo speakers . The OIS even 8 years ago and 4k recording . It was like the martians had arrived and gone “look at what we’ve got you stupid humans” . I was fortunate enough to get one of the limited “cranberry red” editions and people couldn’t help but to ask to handle and gawp at the thing . Strange to think a phone released 8 years ago still hasn’t been equalled today

Totally. We take good speakers in phones for granted today, but back in 2015 when I had an M8 in high school, most others had an iPhone 5/5S or 6. I remember playing a sound clip of something as an example in a science class, over half the class looked over and multiple astonished kids commenting "That came from your phone speaker?!". Way ahead of it's time.

Belongs in the industrial design hall of fame. To this day the best looking cell phone ever made. Sense 5 overlay was so intuitive it puts to shame any iPhone or Samsung. LED screen was a true color rendition compared to the Samsung AMOLED screen everyone raved about. No one has ever come close to the speaker quality. And while we all like the bigger screen size of more modern phones the HTC one is perfect for the human hand. Now it's all about a smart camera not a smart phone. HTC...the best engineers and the worst marketing department in the industry but if they would ever come back with an upgraded One I would buy it in a heartbeat.

The camera was great still got pictures on drop box and went to check and it still holds great. some of the pictures that i made with macro camera look stunning. dropped it so many times with no case or protector, not a scratch. mine came with free sub woofer to compliment the speakers. eventually phone battery gave up. still think it was one of the best phones of the decade

super easy to root and flash Lineage OS 17.1 Android 10 on the HTC One M8. HTC 10 had the nice feature of setting headphone / earbud profiles tailored to the sound profile of what you are using and a great built-in dac/amp. HTC screwed up with the Ultrapixels camera marketing and just lack of marketing budget in general. The battery and wifi degradation was kind of an issue too.

    Hi, there.
I have a whole collection from hTC ONE M7, ONE Max, E8, M8, M9+, E9+ dual sim, and Desire 12+.
M8 owns the finest texture and ergonomic shape due to its thin, round and blunt one-piece aluminum body, in my opinion, it's appearance is one of a kind in the ONE series. It's trendy even after 9 years.
Speraking of apps functionality, apart from replacing a new battery, I also upgraged it to leanageOS based on Android 9.0. It brings sleek swiping and scrolling to her without doubt.
There's a trade off between slim outlook and battery durability, so I'm not going to make M8 my primary but a spare phone, and using it to dig out shopee coins from time to time to reclaim my investment on it. |o|
    Thanks for sharing, dude.

I had this when it came out, and then a 10, a U Ultra (which is getting very tired) and just bought an M8S again, out of nostalgia (and disappointment in new phone designs in general). It's a "new" specimen (prob refurb or something) for 90 euros, but the whole thing looks original and unused and it's just brilliant. These were so much better than anything today. I expect to daily use it for a year maybe and save it for my flagship collection.

I had M7 and M8 both. In fact I still have my M7 with swollen battery.
Battery was a day long only on M8 and processor's inefficiency was apparent. The phone killed the battery very quickly and after 2.5 years of usage, the phone started giving some pop up errors. Upon checking we found out that the phone's battery was swollen.
The difference between boom sound from M7 to M8 was also just a software tweak. M7 had less volume but deep bass. In M8 they increased mids so the loudness increased but the bass dropped . But if the enhanced sound was off then it would sound the same as M7 more or less.
Camera was fine for general photography back then. I didn't have a complaint there but M7 lost its main camera. It was a problem in almost every 2nd M7. The camera would over expose and burn the image with pink haze. Really lot of people lost trust in HTC just because of this.
All HTC needed to make software better and keep on updating their phones. Every Samsung user would call that gap out in HTC that HTC wouldn't update devices. Two software updates were all.
But on the other hand the phone was a jewel. Solid build, lot of unique features like dual camera and speakers, blinkfeed, very sharp screen, a cover that could show notification like a matrix screen and list just goes on.

I had an M8 back in the day as my FIRST smartphone. I chose it because i heard it was a pretty good phone. I never regretted buying it and I loved it so much. Funny enough I destroyed it in the first week I got it, not for a trivial reason like dropping it, no-no. The phone asked me to lock my files due to security and tap on yes and let do its job. But I wanted to get some pictures onto the phone so I cancelled the process by rebooting the phone. Only to witness the lock-screen asking for a pin to unlock the locked files. Because I cancelled the securing process and never came to the possibility to set a PIN to unlock the locked files, I effectively locked myself out from the phone. Needed to send it away and got an HTC One M7 (a really good phone though) as my replacement.
What I really adored about the M8 was the quality of the phone, the performance and the built-in theme designer, with that I could design my own themes with my own wallpapers, symbols and even sounds! I made some game or anime related themes. It was just awesome. It lived through 2017 when I got a Samsung S8+ as my new daily driver (it's still in use).

Watching this on my HTC M10. 🙂 I'm not an app/games/social media type of smartphone user but I'm still using my M10 because of the sound quality. Regarding the sound quality between your HTC M8 Vs your iPhone, I've heard that the sound quality of the M8 is better for me than your iPhone. Regarding battery, yeah it sucks! I only get a few hours of usage then I have to charge it again (around 4-5 times a day 🙁). Finding a original battery replacement is also almost impossible as as the model is already not supported. The only real competitor from Android against Apple. I wonder if HTC survived Apple would have to struggle more to get the customers. I have huge respect towards HTC as a company back in the day. Google should not have bought their employees, we would be able to see wonderful devices from HTC.

Best phone ever made. All these things people's iPhones and others do tiday that phone did way back then. I'd still be using it if the software still worked and battery.

the battery and wifi over time is kind of what killed HTC imo. Also, not enough focus on camera (Ultrapixels marketing instead of MegaPixels was a bad move imo) and perhaps too much focus on 'music listening experience' (I don't mind, but unfortunately most didn't care at the time).

@@CknSalad yeah my m8 took great pictures. My Moto G7 power is awful. But it was $250....

@@regularguyfixes3142 yeah HTC's camera was underrated imo. probably overall third or so best out of the Android flagship phones consistently imo. It's a real shame HTC is a shell of its former self.

someone should invent a way to use a more modern battery and implant or attach to the HTC M8 & M9 plus, this would be essential and ingenious, it is possible? And why does the battery take so long to charge the device?

In today's world, what do u think will happen if phone/gadget companies produces lower end phones and install the SD801 chipset in them? I mean it has a CPU that clocks 2.5ghz that's faster than the Helio g90t
