My wedding literally cost less than $50. It was just my parents, brothers my husband his mom, sister and brother. We had our nikkah done and my mother in law drank a cup of tea and I left with my husband wearing a pair of nikes and plain normal clothes. This was 6 years ago. I’ve been happily married since. Its about your partner rather than the ceremony.

Mine wasn't to different to yours 🥰 , living room decorated by my bestie and me, food & snacks preped by my parents and 25 close relatives invited each side (big family couldn't help it) it was intimate, sweet and simple.

In my experience, the best invested money is on the photography/video because once the wedding is over, any time you see the pictures, the emotions of that moment will come back a little bit or even new emotions because of the time you have been growing/married to your spouse.
I go from wanting small wedding to big wedding back to small wedding because of stress and all 😂😂
But has you said I'm the first girl and we have a saying that an african wedding is for the family not for yourself and there's a lot of comparison in our culture 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️

Lollll also the eldest of an immigrant family... tried to pull the “lets do something intimate” card....Ha. Ha ha. Ended up with a 400 person wedding and hated it. Wish i had something smaller so I could enjoy at least part of it lol

I agree with getting lucky with covid, i got married during covid- and we had to just have my family and my in-laws, it was very very small - and honestly that was just a blessing.

Tasneem, you are such a joy to watch and to see grow as a person. I've been a fan of yours for years and you have always brought me such happiness. You are a wonderfully talented woman and your wedding video brought me to tears. I know you don't know the vast majority of your fans, but our/my utter love and hope for the next chapter of your life is absolutely genuine. I wish you nothing but the best and cannot wait to see where life takes you.
And my wedding was just a twenty minutes zoom meeting. I didn't even wear something fancy. Just nice hijab... And yeah I am proud of it :D

I don’t like big weddings at all. What I don’t like about desi wedding is the extra orchestrated theatrical elements that has become an important component. InshaAllah for my wedding I am going to keep it very small
Even though I enjoy being a guest or even a family member that helps out with things (esp being from the bride's side) at a wedding, I have always wanted a smaller affair for my own (if it ever happens lol, pray for me) and in that sense, COVID or rather, the situation it created, is / was a chance for that to happen. When I see weddings or clips of them on IG / online, I'm happy for the couple of course, but all that attention / noise - I dread that honestly if I were to be in their shoes one day. I agree with the take home message here - it's about the day, it's beauty and the memory, which has nothing to do with the size or extravagance. Thanks for sharing your experience Tasneem.

The happiness of COVID makes sense to me on a personal level. The dad I had turned evil 2 yrs ago. I felt bad cutting him out, but his boat accident took that choice from me. COVID took the guilt and pressure out of the equation, and made a situation where you had an amazing wedding experience. I know the feeling is what I mean. I’m so happy you’ve found peace over it, that takes grace for sure.

My nephew married 6 months ago. For him and his wife the special circumstances helped them a lot in getting married sooner and within their budged. Her family wanted 3! different parties although she is very shy and does not like big gatherings. At the end the "Covid wedding" at her aunts house was perfect for them. Allah is the best planer

Count your blessing my friend, I ended up having over 600 people at my wedding and maybe 10% of those people actually cared about us. (Also I’m thr youngest lol) But Alhumdullilah I had a great time at my Mendhi but I was a mess and filled with anxiety lololol

I loved this video! I always thought that I was going to have a small wedding but then “what Allah has written for you, is the best for you”. Believe it or not I ended up organizing in 3 weeks a bigger wedding than I ever imagined I was going to have (of course I was stressed) but Alhamdulillah I felt the blessing of Allah

I love your documentary style videos where you get guests in who talk their piece but gotta say sometimes i just really want to hear YOU talk lol. This was one of those times, although I appreciate their input.
When my husband and I got married we had a very small wedding (maybe 14 people total). Neither one of us wanted or cared for anything big, and budget was a factor too. We really did not have much to spend, so at the time we thankfully had help from a couple family members on both sides.

Hi from an American who lives in Italy. My father always told me he would only pay for the license - nothing more! 😂😂 Instead, we put the down payment on a house. Our house warming also became our wedding lunch. 😊

Cues Cardi B’s accent “Corona virus.” I guess this whole situation gets out having to invite random aunties and uncles, the mailman, or friends from ten years ago. I honestly think it’s such a waste of money to have such large events when newlywed can use those funds to put a down payment on a house or use it to travel. I rather be beachside sipping a mocktail rather being stressed and not getting to enjoy just one day.

Weddings in America other than the sub continent are costly, and only few people attend while weddings in subcontinent is huge with guest list vary from 500-1000, we have elephants and horses in wedding and is surrounded by a lot of family members while in America there is little to no family, that is why you have problems planning wedding outside. But in subcontinent people do grand and are very rich.
For example, prices can be cut by 95% if done in subcontinent unless you hiring a palace in here for wedding, BTW some people even do that
