    Just picked one of these up with red crimson trace for $299. By the time I paid shipping, $30 FFL handling fee and background check fees it was $370 out the door. Just the laser is $240 new so I couldn’t pass it up. First thing I did was check the loading ramp and it had a bur which is common on this model and causes feeding issues. I removed the bur, polished the loading ramp, dissembled, cleaned and oiled everything. Works like a dream. Eats everything I feed it and is easy to shoot. I got a couple extra mags and it’s a great little 22lr range toy or pocket pistol. I’m going to get the LCP Max 380 as a concealed carry gun with a 10 round mag. This little 22 made me a fan of the LCP platform. Seems like the best option available for comfortable pocket carry.

    Great video. I have a Walther ppks 22lr (my favorite gun), and for the first two years that I had it, I’ve tried every brand of ammo that I could get my hands on. Every brand failed, including CCI. Failures to eject, failures to feed, stovepipes, etc. I even tried changing magazine springs and recoil spring. Nothing worked. About a year ago I ran across Remington thunderbolts, and haven’t had a failure since. Thunderbolts are cheap, dirty, but they work.
    I especially liked your presentation on gun ownership. I agree with every word spoken. Again, great video.

    Great review of the LCP2 .22. I have the LCP2 in .380 and it’s a great little gun. I had the ejector blow off in the first hundred rounds so Ruger replaced the slide with the “new and improved” slide. I obviously had the older model where the retaining pin that holds the firing pin and ejector just blew out for no apparent reason. Meaning, I’m not the only one this happened to and Ruger fixed it. It’s been great ever since. But something to look for if you are going to buy the LCP2 in. 380. (Same may be true for the .22) One of those things I didn’t know but now need to share. If you’re looking at the LCP2 in .380 anyway, look at where the firing pin and ejector retaining pin (same pin does both), are located on the slide. If it’s located on the right side (muzzle forward), and goes in at a 45 degree angle into the slide, that’s the old one. Don’t buy it. If you see that pin now coming down from the very top of the slide, that’s the new one. That’s the one Ruger sent me and it’s just a great little gun now. Just something I learned the hard way that you guys shouldn’t have to now. No catastrophic failure in my case, the pin flew out, the ejector went flying and the slide locked open. Nobody died. But something to look for when purchasing the LCP2 in .380. I bought the older one and it failed. The new one is just perfect. Ruger service is the best out there. Have fun and stay safe.

Aguila and CCI run about the same, great, actually Aguila a tiny bit better. very few F T F. It also enjoys Herter's. LCPII here. Ammunition makes a huge difference. Last time at the range ran Remington Golden Bullet in .22LR. Grain Weight: 36 · Muzzle Velocity: 1280. Ran over 100 rounds without misfire, light strike or failure to feed. This LCPII does not like hollow points. Rounded lead feeds problem free. This LCPII has the trigger upgrade and the eject spring and recoil spring upgrade. Not sure it makes much of a different. The trigger is red so it's more pretty!

    Good stuff, thank you. I recently purchased one of these and am having the same problem you had at the 17:47 mark. My first thought was a failure to feed as well, but what the real issue is the slide is prematurely locking back with rounds still in the mag. A fail to feed would mean the slide came forward and did not pick up a round. I am not trying to sound pickyuni, but they are two separate problems. I asked Ruger about this and the lady said it might be the magazine. I have 2 more coming to test out. It may be a mag issue. Did you ever solve the problem? Stay safe out there.

    • @Woodstock271
      @Woodstock271 2 года назад +1

      Yep. I have the LCP2 .380 and bought some Winchester white box ammo for it. I didn’t know until I got it home that this ammo has a squared off tip, so I filled the mag with it and cycled the slide and sure enough, it fed like crap. I polished the feed ramp to a mirror shine and it fed really smooth. (I polish all my feed ramps because it just makes sense)
      At the range, the ammo fed and ejected just fine but I still don’t like the squared off tips so I wanted to use up all that stuff and make sure to get rounded ammo in the future. But a hundred rounds in, the ejector blew off. (Not the ammo’s fault) I didn’t know right away what happened other than my slide locked back on the second round and the spent round was still in the chamber. Great. Now what? I released the mag and shook the empty casing out of the chamber. Then I noticed the ejector was missing. Game over. I saw it laying of the floor in front of my bench. What happened is, the firing pin retainer pin, which also holds the ejector in, popped out. I sent it back to Ruger and they sent it back with a whole new slide and barrel, the improved version. The new one has the retaining pin on the top as opposed to the side. They sent along a paper that explained this is the improved slide. (Which means this was a common problem with the old slide) Of course the new barrel came with the same machine marks and sharp edges on the feed ramp so I polished it. Haven’t had a problem since. Great little gun.

    • @Woodstock271
      @Woodstock271 2 года назад

      One more quick thing. I also have the Ruger Max-9 pro and it’s a sweetheart. Especially with the Holosun 407k x2 red dot on it.
      No issues at all and I’ve put almost a thousand rounds through it. Love this pistol. I’m using the same Winchester white box range ammo but in 9mm it’s a rounded tip. I don’t know why they square off the same ammo in .380? Makes no sense. It’s .380 AUTO, meaning it needs to feed. Who the hell thought squaring off the end would help in feeding? It can’t, and it doesn’t. So just for that reason, I don’t buy Winchester white box in .380. In 9mm. It’s rounded and fine. But I go with Blazer brass just because Winchester pissed me off and it’s the same price.
      For the range, we usually buy the cheapest target ammo. And of course we shoot a bunch of defense ammo, which is way more expensive, just to make sure it’s reliable. I used Normady Critical Defense in .380 and Sig Sauer Elite defense in 9mm. Both feed just fine and do what they are supposed to do. Feed and shoot.
      Have fun on the range, everyone. Peace and aloha to you all.

Carry approx 95 to 105 foot pounds of energy, I've seen many tests of the leathality of the 22lr. from close range to over 100 yards , they all show a very leathal ability , however the immediate stopping power is not as effective as the bigger ammo. Maybe the fact that alot of people use 22lr. as a self defense rd. speaks to the fact that hospitals report more shooting and deaths by 22lr than other larger ammo's , interesting fact .
