    Awesome stuff, I added the spring kit per your recommendation, and also did their trigger too, absolutely love the thing, it’s a fun little guy to shoot, I bought two extra mags and added the Wingman TK +4 extensions, and have had good luck with em, they feel great in hand too…The main difference I experienced with the spring kit is no light primer strikes anymore, or at least hardly ever….I load it with 11 of those Aquila 40 grain round points, and polish the wax off the bullet, and have found myself carrying the little guy a bunch with one of those kydex BORA11 trigger guard holsters, it weighs nothing, and I trust the setup…

    It’s kinda funny seeing someone else that loves that gun as much as I love mine😁 and I also take it with me to the range every time I go. As the matter of fact I’m usually handing it off to others around me to shoot it too just because I get such a kick out of shooting it i figure they will too! I also turn people on to a video I stumbled across, and I encourage everyone who loves 22 to watch it. The channel is called Beyond Seclusion and the video is called .22 lr FOR SELF DEFENSE?? Pretty impressive video, and it’s an lcp2 with CCI segmented rounds

    I shot about 500 rounds out of mine last week….Round nose ammo feeds the best through mine including Federal Automatch…..I also shot some CCI stingers with no feed failures…..I did have a few failures to fire with both types of ammo though…….I installed a Armalaser laser on the trigger ring which allows accuracy at any angle but I had to buy a new pocket holster……

    Sorry you didnt have the results out of the spring kit i did. I had high hopes. Thanks for taking time to put this out here. I shoot mine a good bit but not quite as much as you. All in all I’ve been extremely happy with this pistol. But out of the box it was a bit of a disappointment for me. I just chocked mine’s failures to ruger trying to do too much in too small of a space. After reading up on other people that have them results seem to vary wildly. I guess they aren’t really consistent with this model. Thank you again.

    My LCP .22 is much more reliable since I removed the magazine disconnect. It was running about 90% but since the mod I've put several different boxes through it with zero problems. I did this mod to fix the crunchy trigger & it is much smoother now. It has one crisp break instead of 2-4 mushy breaks. Shooting smaller groups now.

    Don't have as many rounds through mine (maybe 1500) but finding similar results. The Eley Club, as you have found, and SK standard work well (which may be due to their tallow/beeswax coating). The more I shoot mine the more I find that previously "bad" ammo now seems to work. Most of the CCI ammo works, and am glad to see that their Target works, since I can get 50 for $4.83 at Walmart (yes, after many months and not much in the way of answers from WM personnel, they have this on the shelf consistently now).

    It’s crazy how people say the lcp2 is ammo picky. I’m lucky because mine has ran everything so far. Albeit a couple failures here and there but really it ruins everything.

    • @johnnyshootsalot
      @johnnyshootsalot  Год назад

      It could possibly be "crazy" if it was one guy professing something that everyone else objectively didn't experience. However, in this case, the rarity is the claim that the lcp is not ammo sensitive. I personally know more than one other RUclips "gun guy" that has had the standard issues with the lcp that hundreds of others have reported. If yours is different, post us a video showing you successfully firing hundreds of rounds of different brands of ammunition that the rest of us have struggled with. Simple...

    That Gun is Ruger,s take on the kel-tec p32. Ruger SHOULD have offered this Gun ln .32acp.

    • @johnnyshootsalot
      @johnnyshootsalot  Год назад +1

      I like the 32acp round, and the lcp would be more capable and better handling had it been offered in that caliber. That said, I'm sure Ruger chose 380 and 22lr because they are far more readily available, and 380 is generally better accepted as a self-defense round than the 32. Realistically, I don't think there's a big difference when it comes to real-world effectiveness. I have been toying with the idea of hand-loading sone lighter 380 rounds for use in my LCP Max that would compare in performance and recoil to a semi hot 32acp.

    Not an owner of this gun but really like it based on all the reviews I read and from what my understanding of the Galloway spring replacement kit. From reading some of the vids regarding these kits it appears to be the case of when from ...new ..some of these guns give issues, the Galloway kits replacement alleviates the problem. If yours worked flawlessly from the start I guess that kit would not really make much difference. That's just from reading multiple reviews on the Ruger LCp II 22LR...and I mean multiple😃

    • @johnnyshootsalot
      @johnnyshootsalot  Год назад

      Yep. That's the consensus. But there's a relatively broad spread of functionality with these particular guns, and considering Ruger's ability to make a good firearm very consistently, it's hard to say what it is that's the determinant variable.

    This has been one of the most reliable 22lr semi autos own. It has tun everything i have put in it. Now i wish they would make a 4 inch threaded upper. That would make a great 4inch subcompact amd with the tandemkross 4 plus one mag extender.
    I did have to get the extra power recoil spring to get federal punch to work reliably.

    • @johnnyshootsalot
      @johnnyshootsalot  2 года назад

      I don't know what the actual barrel length is, but Ruger makes a threaded version for this gun that seems to be pretty legit for $160. I was contemplating getting it, but ended up just getting the supressor ready m&p compact because it would kind of defeat the advantages of the lcp's small size to add barrel length and a suppressor.

    • @silverback3926

      @@johnnyshootsalot yeah i like the super thin profile of the lcpii. The existing threard barrel option can be found for about 100.00 if you hunt for it. It still a 2 3/4 imch barrel threaded. I don't want to go much bigger in width or height than the kel tec p17
      The lcpii profile would lend itself to a great 22lr semi auto. Oh well i man can dream

    I had been attributing it to the nickel plating on the cases, but I didn't know that the cases were actually longer

    It's been happily munching down CCI Mini Mags however

    Appreciate your videos on this gun. I have had very good results with Aguila ammo until I got a 500 round box and found it to be a sticky mess. It was like someone spilled a coke in it then let it dry. It gummed up my 6 mags also. Had to clean each round with mineral spirits. I looked on the internet to see if anyone else had this problem and low and behold yes someone else had the same exact problem. I reported this to Aguila and they wanted a copy of my receipt which I had threw away so no luck there. I think keeping your mags really clean is a good thing to do to keep malfunctions low. I still use Aguila because it runs better than the mini mags with my experience.

    • @johnnyshootsalot
      @johnnyshootsalot  Год назад

      I have encountered a box of over waxed Aguila as well. I think it was a 250ct. Like a syrupy mess of oily wax. I basically just sprayed all the rounds down with some brake cleaner in a bowl, wiped them off a little with paper towels, and shot them all in the next day or two afterwards. I didn't have any particularly bad side effects from it. But overall, after running thousands of Aguila 22lr rounds over the past cpl of years, they are still the most consistent across the board in all of my different 22's. With the Mini-Mags being my 2nd choice.

    Weirdly I've had Federal Punch run flawlessly through 150 rounds. Stingers I had a few failures before I installed the Galloway kit. Now they ran through 100 rounds with no issues. Velocitors I haven't retried yet. Before the Galloway kit Aguila's Super Extra just straight up refused to run in my gun. Same with Federal Automatch ammo. Those bulk box ammo's just refused. After the kit it minimized those problems. Aguila's problems were all ammo related after the kit just 2 duds out of 500 rounds. Automatch was better but that wax cover is odd and the gun just doesn't like it with the occassional failure to feed. Happened with all 3 of my magazines so I know it isn't a bunk mag. The most reliable for my gun so far is just Standard Velocity CCI's. I've ran 800 rounds of it and I have not had a single failure before or after the kit install. I'm surprised I haven't even had a single dud round. I'm not almost 2200 rounds in. I love the gun. It's fun to shoot and to use as a practice gun for my LCP Max. No I don't get live recoil training for the .380 but it's still fun and is what it is.
    I've cleaned my gun after every range session except one time. The gun gets gunked up pretty bad and I just don't like leaving my guns like that after shooting them. But I honestly haven't had a failure due to the gun being dirty. It's just speculation at that point. It runs just as good dirty as it does after I clean it. That's just me personally what I've experienced after putting 300 rounds through it one session and 500 the next without cleaning. Though the lead tip CCI Standard's seem to foul up A LOT faster. After 200 consecutive rounds of it I definitely noticed it a lot more dirty than 500 rounds of Aguila.

    • @tylerangle2269

      I've had opposite issues. Before I installed the Galloway kit, Aguila Super Extra would have a light strike multiple times each magazine. Mini-Mags would have failure to feed quite often. Haven't tried Vipers. After the kit install I only had Aguila fail twice out of a box of 500. Both of those failures were ammo problems they just straight up were duds. I agree, to some extent. If you price any of the vintage pocket pistols by the asking prices on Gunbroker, then it would appear as if they're worth their weight in gold. But I've found that in most places, their actual selling prices are basically in-line with the higher quality new guns like the Beretta Tomcat and the like. I think you're spot on with the lcp being a cheap shooter that you could beat up and not worry much about.

    I've shot about 1000 rounds through mine before without really cleaning it. I notice that after 250+ it starts blowing fireballs... and it gets less reliable as it gets dirty.

      Agreed. I have put 250-300 or so through mine in a single session without too much of a change in performance. But it certainly runs better when it's clean and lubed properly.

    I love your update videos on the LCP 2 -.22. Very well done! I have probably 1000 rounds through mine, like many of my Ruger‘s, the slide is a little loose when I hold it in my hand and rotate it back-and-forth, left and right. I have that on some other Ruger ‘s as well, I think it’s a Ruger thing. Do you have the same thing happening on yours? I think Ruger just likes to have a little bit of play in the slide to where it rattles just a little bit.

    • @johnnyshootsalot
      @johnnyshootsalot  2 года назад +1

      Thanks, man! My LCP 2 is a little loose. But the LCP Max is very loose. I spoke to Ruger specifically about that, and they said that it was engineered that way purposefully.

    Asking again, from a practical day and night shooting perspective, to hit targets, does the black lower and silver upper offer any advantage over all black? I am also open to paint some dots on the sights. What colors would you recommend?

    I'm installing the springs right now and I'm struggling hard with getting the pin out of the hammer to put in the third spring. Really wanna get it installed to fix the reliability problems I'm having with it. But this pin won't budge. Any suggestions man?

    • @johnnyshootsalot
      @johnnyshootsalot  2 года назад +1

      I can't say that any of my pins were particularly stubborn, but I use a roll of duct tape covered in an old t-shirt to give me a stable, but hollow platform for driving out pins. And I would probably just tap tap tap it until I see some movement. If it is really not going anywhere, maybe sit the frame under a warm light to heat it up a little so that the polymer expands and softens JUST a bit.

    • @johnnyshootsalot
      @johnnyshootsalot  2 года назад +1

      Or maybe hit it with a hairdryer for a minute or two

    • @xTom4Tomx
      @xTom4Tomx 2 года назад

      @@johnnyshootsalot well this is the one in the hammer so there isn't any polymer to loosen. It's the hammer pin to remove that third spring that galloway has you install. But who knows maybe some heat would still help lol I know the video tutorial from Galloway talks about how this pin only goes out one way and it is a TIGHT hole for the 1/16th pin to go through. Almost feels like it isn't really a full opening tbh
