    Though being a big fan of DJay Pro Ai, I have to hand it to Serato, their stems sound cleaner and more refined when played as instrumental or a capella

      To be honest it would be sort of embarrassing if the quality would be worse, seeing they are over two years late to the party. On top of that I fully expect the other guys to up their game too.

    I love that Serato finally has an offering. I am a fan of Algorriddim, I’ve just always felt that there’s a little more tuning that can be done with their isolation. You can tell something is missing. Serato sounds like the instrumentals are great, I would personally maybe filter the vocals a little to see if they sound more isolated. But overall they sound like the clear cut winner as of right now.

      Considering that PioneerDJ makes almost all of the main equipment for Serato, I cannot believe that this caught PDJ by surprise like when Algoriddim and VDJ first announced this in their software. That said, I am sure they are letting Serato rock first and RKB 6.x will have this as well. I cannot see Pioneer letting RKB be excluded in this.

    OMG! I use primarily Serato but I do have DJay Pro on my iPad and I do play with it as works on my Rane72 (but not on my Rev 7 yet) so I'm familiar with stems on DJay Pro, but these Serato stems sound cleaner. When I'm using DJ Pro, there seems to be more distortion. This is only a few samples, so actual differences may not be that much different when I start using the Serato stems feature... but so far, I'm pretty excited. I was wondering why it was taking Serato so long to have stem separation, but I guess they just spent more time to have a better product. I can totally respect that decision to resist coming out with a sub-par product early just to say they have that feature. Thank you Serato!!! And thank you DJcity for posting this!

    I would have wish the following feature were used for VDJ stems comparison that Serato or DJAY does not offer. Below are 2 features that destroy all the others.
    PRECOMPUTE:
    This feature is on the VDJ SW but yet is never highlighted by Serato riders. The precompute is stem AI feature, apart from file analyzation, it is own AI/ feature that creates a separate stem file for the track. Yes it take up more HD space, yet its making the steam feature WAY better than of its competitors; in addition, making it sound BETTER with "setting the bleed to defaults". Try it.
    STEM with EQ:
    The ability to have the option in a 4 channel mixer to separate STEM on the mixer, YES, this is something as DJ's we like, options. OPTIONS, is what make the creative process best. VDJ understand this and gave that to its customer.
    Why wasn't this highlight? Again, if we are going to compare the STEM feature, then show all the capabilities not just pull up track and let see what is sound like on each software.
    I left serato years ago to VDJ once the STEM feature was introduce. VDJ has been leading the market in this technology and has more feature with STEM's at the moment, yet no one wishes to highlight. Sadly no videos on the web have highlighted these points or features. How come? What is this channel take on this?

  • @jamesv8268
    @jamesv8268 Год назад +3

    Serato is the clear winner in this video by using the preset settings by Serato. However, the fully adjustable settings in VDJ give far more flexibility and the same clarity as, or maybe better, Serato. This is a beta and will get better but it has a lot of catching up to do. Videos like these are always biased towards the preferences of the publisher.

  • @DanielleKingdjdinosaur
    @DanielleKingdjdinosaur Год назад +3

    until Serato finally got around to doing stems it was Algoriddim thats was best as far as dj software was concerned.VDj was good was a tad more wooshy .As always it does rather depend on the track and how good your computer is as this can be heavy on the cpu.At a pinch i would say that right now Serato are just a little bit better and they are just introducing their version.This will continue to develop I will happily give up a pad mode for this as i mainly use cues and the sampler and the rest im not that bothered about so what ever one i use least on my Rane will be the one that becomes the stem mode.When this first came about it was not very good but each update has got a little better.After a bit of a false start with Traktor that required the co operation of record companies for it to work at the time and it was such a radical idea that it needed time to develop and for the tech to catch up to turn a good idea into something more immediate and intuitive.For it to really explode it will need to go on developing as computer tech improves.

    • @dreddiknight
      @dreddiknight Год назад

      The traktor thing wasn't this. It was making 4 or so stems available in their proprietary format. This is splitting the audio file using filtering and AI. NI's idea was needlessly complicated and clunky the flac format would have supported the idea, but they thought they could corner the market. They were wrong. Greed got in the way of what could have been a good idea. Badass dj's were ready for something like that but not with them controlling the format, price and what got split into each stem.

    All of these algorithms sound like crap compared to RipX (paid) and Demucs (free open source). So if you want the cleanest separation I would use either of these 2 software. RipX allows a lot more granular control to mess with the notes. While Demucs is still being improved upon and free.

The algorithm needs to improve in order to match the algorithm of Demucs and RipX. As computing power increases, non real time algorithms will eventually be real time using GPU and/or AI processing unit. In this regard, Demucs (open source, free, co-developed by Facebook) could very well be the real time algorithm of choice.
