You know something else that doesn't get much attention in this game? The background art. Like, some of the art seen in the battles is actually really beautiful, but we're all understandably focused on the characters.
Omg yes. I think my personal favourite is the one for the Legendary Azura battle. It looks so neat but it appears in one legendary battle and a tempest trial from years ago. The battle on the cliff at sunset in book 4 also looks great. Hell, all of book 4s backgrounds look beautiful

At first I thought this was a meme video because of the thumbnail and title but once I saw the lenght and who it was from I realized it was legit. Anyway this was a cool video, I mostly play with animations off so I don't always look at the animations but there really are some cool ones, also a small detail but around the start of gen 3 if I remember correctly all sprites in FEH started having 5 fingers instead of 4 like the earlier ones.
Seeing this caused me to look at my category of heroes and during Ferdinand's ready up or battle entrance he quickly winks. Though that was a really cool detail.
Magic animations are some of my personal favorites. Seeing SNES and GBA spell animations, like Valflame or Gleipnir, reimagined and modernized and seeing animations from the 3D games, like Cymbeline or Dark Spikes T, represented in 2D is absolutely wonderful in my opinion.
Wait? People turn off animations?! They're missing out the fun and there are so many nice details that makes each character unique. I only turn off animations when I grind and I hate it when I forget to turn it back on when I'm not grinding. If only there was a setting "No Combat Animation for Auto"
It would have been cool to see some analysis comparing FEH's animations to, say, the 12 principles of animation, but aside from that, this was just a fun video to watch with nice edits and I gotta respect a video that uses Stickerbush Symphony.
Comment question: I've gotta love L!Dimitri whacking the shit out of his enemies, Nowi hocking a Dragon snot lugie at her enemies, Resplendent Azura's phase start animation, Yune's attack animation, Sothis just flying in the air (they couldve made her a flying tome unit but they decided to go with the cooler option instead). My all time favourite for now has to be Linhardt's idle animation. He's just standing there. Sassily.

I always loved the animations in this game, I rarely turn them off, also love how the summoner is just like "yeet" instead of using his close range weapon like a normal person. I really liked your video.
There's also the fact that other than a couple of the tomes that aren't actually tomes like the loyal wreath, the inheritable weapon sprites and animations still work fine for characters they weren't originally intended for.
Between Loki's getting comfy as an introduction on battle-entrance animations and L.Azura drowning people, I don't know what I should appreciate more in this video. Seriously, well-done. This was a real treat to watch.
I was baffled at first when I saw Yarnes idle animation since that's pretty unique (like you said) and since then I always look at the new animations and admire them
Animations were always one thing that I always loved when it came to video games. Admittedly for some reason I never stopped to really appreciate how some of the animations are in this game, so this video helped me realize that grave error. Great video!
Not sure if anybody noticed, but og Alm has always had his sword in his left hand. Nothing big, but pretty cool attention to detail that can go unnoticed.
Whenever I see Legendary Lucina's animation, I always had the tendency to say, "Parkour" (ever watched the Office?). And now I wait for the time when I see Legendary Corrin's animation and yell Berkut's signature "UNCLE!"
this was a super well edited and fun video!! even better, it's on a topic i thought no one cared about lol. the sprites are definitely one of favorite parts of the game, and they've improved so much! on newer alts of older characters, you can see they update the base sprite to make the hair look nicer, which they didn't do before. it's a super nice touch! (for an example just compare the sprites of the male corrin alts)

I always turn the animations on than I play the story and the side quests for the first time so it kinda feels like a real Fire Emblem game. I can see how the characters attack the enemy and what the enemy says when they are defeated and I can hear the special boss music. It feels so much more real and satisfying to play like this. The animation, the music, the art everything is just so amazing in this game. Thank you for showing that I love your high quality videos :)

Or Sothis summoning a new dimension just for shits and giggles. Can't wait for Gauntlet units to finally arrive at some point, they CAN'T avoid them forever. I wish we'd get more backgrounds, and the summoning videos we got in the first year.. I miss 'em. I'd be content if these movies were shown for the new Banner videos on RUclips, that'd be more than enough for me. It's just pure eye candy. And the idle animations for flying units are really cool, or especially beast winged ones, the movement look so smooth.

I just come to say that the animations where the characters levitate their weapons are one of my favorites. like ishtar and lewyn who give a certain air of superiority and veterans in the use of magic. Also the animation of the avatar using physical weapons I also like that they levitate since they show that our character is not made for this form of fight but can still fight in this way and also because it reminds me of 9s from nier automata.

I love the animations for this game! :D Aside from just any given character being turned into a cute marketable chibi, I absolutely love the care that's given to the poses. My favorite battle-ready pose is all the Claudes twirling their arrows just like in 3H, but my favorite Mythic/Legendary finishing animation goes to either Legendary Lyn or Legendary Ike. Their acrobatics are always so cool!
I remember way back in 2017 being amazed when Celica was unveiled and her attack let off a mushroom cloud. It's not the fanciest by today's standards but I still think it looks pretty nice. She was also one of the few units early on to have a unique animation for consecutive attacks. Those are also beautiful and it's a shame we don't see most of the tome unit's versions nowadays unless you bring out a bladetome. Rinea in particular is one of my favourites in this regard. Pair her two attacks up and she looks like she's dancing.
I love the animations. While I do spend a fair amount of gameplay with animations off, I will occasionally turn them on especially for new heroes. I like tome animations because there are so many different ones. Mythic and Legendary units are also incredible.

An interesting unit animation-wise is Surtr. He's not a legendary unit, but he gets a unique kill animation as if he was.

My favorite goofy animations is when picnic Felicia trips and drops her cooking pot on the enemy.
