- In 1983 Qube Cable celebrated MTV's second birthday by inviting Nina Blackwood into their studios to participate in an interactive cable TV poll of sorts with a somewhat interview and pieces of a rare MTV Behind The Scenes special depicting MTV in it's infancy.
I wish MTV is what it was back then!
MTV was a trendsetter in its day.
I miss the original MTV.
This^
When MTV used to play music videos :-) Love Nina Blackwood. Still listen to her on the radio. Yeah, I'm old.
Wow! This is a fantastic MTV behind the scenes special from 1983. it contains excellent interviews with the VJs and the production staff. Very historic footage. Thank you very much for posting it.
WOW what a gem thank you. Just shows how mind blowing the technological advances that have happened in the last 36 years are.
QUBE Cable...that's a blast from the past! Who remembers Soap Scoop?
Nina is really cute, gotta love :)
I was sad to find it wasnt live. I think knowing that would have changed alot of peoples perception and wouldn't have been as popular. The thinking it was live made it more at the moment and part of it. Glad I didn't know it back then.
I Love Miss Nina Blackwood, Too
Les Garland comes off like a wild man in the book ‘i want my mtv.” this vid def helped illustrate the first bunch of the book.
The Videos Back Then were Awesome
MTV Music Television, With Lady Nina Blackwood
They got her to announce our halftime show for our marching band.
Love this! Thank you :)
1980’s A.D. When black guys rocked white guys’ haircuts and white guys rocked afros. What a great time!!
"And now performing on the...harp....Nina Blackwood." Awwwww...(I would watch Nina clip her toenails).
I want my or a Classic MTV. 81 - 85
Alan Hunter talking about just how being a VJ is hard work 😂😂😂😂
I never knew Alan Hunter sounded just like David Spade and Mark Goodman sounded so much like Steven Wright!!
Les Garland also used the same program clock for the legendary CKLW in Windsor/Detroit.
I got MTV in 1990 so I wasn't around with the original VJ's but man Nina was so damn hot, unfortunately now the years have caught up with her and her voice now sounds like she's been smoking ten packs a day.
thank you

“ The features I LIKED best”……
When they used to do actual music programming 🎶
Nina Blackwood reminds me of Liza Minelli's character in the film Arthur. She looks similar and has basically the same accent.
"This is Spinal Tap" vibe on this
I wonder if that network operations center in Smithtown still exists or what that building it is now and where were the original MTV studios were in New York before they moved to Times Square?
Wkrp in Cincinnati was Great,Too
It’s so weird how the video captions are worse quality than you can do on a smart phone you carry in your pocket. Wow how technology has changed.
Why didn’t MTV evolve into streaming TV
MTV Block Party is Always Streaming, so is Yo MTV Raps, and VH1 is now Vevo
MTV Music Television, Behind The Scenes
This video wreaks of cocaine . LOL
How Did MTV Launch In 1981
Martha Quinn is So Cute
mark goodman took himself a little to seriously
“…….I’m responsible for keeping the black music artists out…..”
to bad mtv later on would help rap enter the mainstream. you could say rap is an art form but in no way do i consider rappers muscians
Too bad it went the way of the dinosaur...
Goodman's Jeri Curl yikes.
