Просмотров 15 тыс.5 лет назад
In 1983 Qube Cable celebrated MTV's second birthday by inviting Nina Blackwood into their studios to participate in an interactive cable TV poll of sorts with a somewhat interview and pieces of a rare MTV Behind The Scenes special depicting MTV in it's infancy.

Below freezing temperatures hit Houston, Texas during the holiday season of 1983. My father, Captain Ray Mayo, came to the rescue to ease the concerns of local civilians who may have been affected by the extreme weather.

The Videos Back Then were Awesome
I Love Miss Nina Blackwood, Too
Martha Quinn is So Cute
MTV Music Television in Stereo
Too bad it went the way of the dinosaur...
When MTV used to play music videos :-) Love Nina Blackwood. Still listen to her on the radio. Yeah, I'm old.
Nina Blackwood reminds me of Liza Minelli's character in the film Arthur. She looks similar and has basically the same accent.
I want my or a Classic MTV. 81 - 85
How Did MTV Launch In 1981
Alan Hunter talking about just how being a VJ is hard work 😂😂😂😂
One of the better bands I heard at Fitzgeralds back during this period. Not sure why they didn’t hit it big.
Blackwood was so hot back then - time has turned her into a sweathog
Do you have anything with the song America?
Wish I could have seen this
I wish MTV is what it was back then!
Someone please put there albums on RUclips
MTV was a trendsetter in its day.
MTV Music Television, With Lady Nina Blackwood
When will someone put there albums on here???????????
Love this! Thank you :)
Les Garland comes off like a wild man in the book ‘i want my mtv.” this vid def helped illustrate the first bunch of the book.
Miss you.
I wish someone would be there albums on RUclips
Ahhhh shiiiiit!! Good times!! I was waaay too young to be in there, but Chris the drummer was my BF 🤪
Very interesting video. I saw Spunk play in Houston back in ‘97. Their show brew me away.
The channel went to sh!t after Les Garland left.
Ohhh, The Vatican 🧡
Remember that tortilla factory next door?
@@OriginalDonutposse 😊
Gawd, I was obsessed with Tod Waters in hi skool. This vid predates that a bit, but still. Fun memories!
I was sad to find it wasnt live. I think knowing that would have changed alot of peoples perception and wouldn't have been as popular. The thinking it was live made it more at the moment and part of it. Glad I didn't know it back then.
I wonder if that network operations center in Smithtown still exists or what that building it is now and where were the original MTV studios were in New York before they moved to Times Square?
I wanted to know if Nina Blackwood was a virgin. So, at 31:43 - I called the MTV "Questions" line at 1-800-551-5003. The number was unreachable. I mean, WTF?!? Is she a virgin or not?
even back then libtards were in control of what we saw on tv
mark goodman took himself a little to seriously
"This is Spinal Tap" vibe on this
They got her to announce our halftime show for our marching band.
“ The features I LIKED best”…… When they used to do actual music programming 🎶
1980’s A.D. When black guys rocked white guys’ haircuts and white guys rocked afros. What a great time!!
“…….I’m responsible for keeping the black music artists out…..”
to bad mtv later on would help rap enter the mainstream. you could say rap is an art form but in no way do i consider rappers muscians
Why didn’t MTV evolve into streaming TV
MTV Block Party is Always Streaming, so is Yo MTV Raps, and VH1 is now Vevo
Wkrp in Cincinnati was Great,Too
MTV Music Television, Behind The Scenes
QUBE Cable...that's a blast from the past! Who remembers Soap Scoop?
I got MTV in 1990 so I wasn't around with the original VJ's but man Nina was so damn hot, unfortunately now the years have caught up with her and her voice now sounds like she's been smoking ten packs a day.
"And now performing on the...harp....Nina Blackwood." Awwwww...(I would watch Nina clip her toenails).
Les Garland also used the same program clock for the legendary CKLW in Windsor/Detroit.
2 year old me is moshing somewhere.
Goodman's Jeri Curl yikes.
Wow! This is a fantastic MTV behind the scenes special from 1983. it contains excellent interviews with the VJs and the production staff. Very historic footage. Thank you very much for posting it.
Ugh Darren. I’m always so envious of that collection.
Some old geezer in a raaaaaambler!
