- Here's some MTV from 1981-08-29 with VJ Nina Blackwood! Some of the videos don't have credits.
By popular demand, I uploaded the broadcast to archive. Here it is: archive.org/details/mtv-1981-... - Кино
I loved her hair. No one looked liked her on tv.
Where’s my Time Machine I NEED to go back to my favorite decade!
Once upon a time, in a land now far far away, there was......M in MTV.
Nina Blackwood's voice has changed dramatically over the years
yes, I hear her on the Sirus radio and her voice is very scratchy
I think she must have smoked too many cigs.
Wow I’m stunned by how raw and authentic this is. Rough around the edges sure, but I can see how revolutionary this would have been for the time.
Now, on MTV all you get is 18hrs of Ridiculousness every day
"raw and authentic", well put. The complete OPPOSITE of today. I remember watching MTV, and it was not just the music and videos, it was the veejays, culture, art, media, the all-around humanity...technology was appreciated and respected, not abused as it is now!
At the time I didn't think it was revolutionary. We already had two syndicated video music shows on an independent channel in our city since 1978 so we already had an hour of music videos on television every week.
Early MTV was the best, videos and great VJs. I miss those early years.
Wikipedia said her voice was raspy even as a child, but it doesn’t sound raspy here at all.
I was just reading her bio and it said that her voice has always been like this. I came here to confirm this and I find this comment lol! It’s all that smoking lol!
Jesus Nina was such a fine thing
Seems so long ago. I remember how cool MTV was when it started and being a young kid watching constantly. They really did a lot of great things to try to draw viewers. It’s a shame that today’s kids can’t experience that wow factor of seeing MTV for the first time and see what it used to be.
Kids today will be saying the same thing about TikTok to their kids
I was mesmerized by her hair on the 80s
Gotta love Nina Blackwood!
I was 21 that year, hooked on MTV for sure, Nina was cool.
I'm a gonna send a letter to MTV One Night Stand to see Journey in concert.
Great Video with Lady Nina Blackwood, MTV V.J ,With Classic TV Commercials
The fact that she brought up Charlie Daniels, it was the best thing on TV. For high school
Redneck Daniels 😁
the first song i remember was Hold Me by Fleetwood Mac
What a gorgeous woman Nina Blackwood is.
I imagine that Nina is what love would look like if it had a physical appearance.
She used to have a beautiful voice
This is fantastic footage when mtv was great 1981 Do u have any old footage of MTV October, November or December 1981 vidcheck including videos???
There were a LOT of technical difficulties in MTV's first few years. That's why they'd run those little time filler bumpers back in 1981-1983. They were more common than youd think.
I've never seen this one before. I thought I seen every broadcast from 1981 (well just the two). Hope you post the broadcast on Archive!!
'80s MTV birthday this year exactly one tenth of its decade: 1981/2021.
MTV (80's) 🎸 🎂 🚀
MTV was on life support in the nineties, and passed away in the 2000s.
It's weird raspy her voice is now compared to this.
Picking between Nina Blackwood & Martha Quinn is like picking between Ginger & Mary Anne.
Like Mister Howell, Would Say, Ginger or Mary Ann?
Lady Nina Blackwood on MTV
11:37 I remember MTV having Intermissions. This space version was one of the best.
It's awesome. For no particular reason
I was a baby when this originally aired! Just been born in June of this year! Cool to see the world as it was when I was born.
Nina Blackwood ❤
I like vj Nina Blackwood and her pronunciation in English.
Is the MTV studios shot in NY?
Nina seemed very like rock and roll party girl by appearance but you could tell she was in reality kind of a shy introvert.
This was only the 4th week on the air. Hope more from this time surface. Alan Hunter said his earlier broadcasts were really awkward before he found his grove but none are out there to watch
11:30-13:30 is the empty space that’s supposed to be replaced with local ads. If there weren’t any, you’d just see this Network interstitial
She wasn't shy about walking around barefoot in the studio when she was hosting. I don't know what was up with that.
She was great
i had only heard if her on xm radio, as i was working too much back then to watch mtv, but loved music.. so, now i see who she is, and was. she even took in very deep breaths back then, maybe asthma? but now days, on xm radio, she sounds really bad, and i feel bad for her as she gasps for air so much that my hubby and i have to change the station when she is on the air. but im hoping she is ok.
She needed to shake her head a bit more as she talked.
The music that starts at 6:12 is “Disco Nights” by Francis Monkman
Hi love the video! Any chance you could post the whole broadcast on Internet Archive? If not do you trade? Please let me know.
Some of my best memories of the early '80s was watching the Islanders win Stanley Cups and discovering music/videos via MTV!
Nina was always my favorite. Beautiful and nice legs ❤️❤️😍😍
I wore my hair just like hers in 9th grade
I remember MTV. Not this junk today . Red Rider Lunatic Fringe .
This has a similar feel to some cable access shows from that period. Nina Blackwood's style of presentation was pleasingly unpolished.
Cool 😎
After 42 years of searching and watching so many MTV vidchecks and MTV intermission videos, I finally find out who did the intermission song between 11:36 to 13:36. "Who's Who" by Clive Hicks. Thanks to You Tube for putting a link to the song in the video's description. This intermission song was one the original intermission songs that MTV used to play when they first started back in 1981. I've been looking for it since that time. Love the synth in it!! ruclips.net/video/Rx-ifx-Bm3E/видео.html
Nina could sing your socks off.
Her hair was so cool looking. Like a very orderly mess. 🤔
What a babe!
Nina has great pair of legs in black nylons and tights. I missed her on MTV since 86.
Dude, Why The Fuck Are The Videos Keep Being Cut Short? Its Pissing Me Off!!!!!😡😡😡

I don't understand how her voice got the way it is now. I heard the recent SiriusXM special and Martha Quinn sounds more or less the same.
Cigarettes
She sounds a lot like Marge Simpson now..
@@mjtheman23 More like Marge Simpson sister Selma
Miss these days. Notice the quiet studio setting, like it’s just you and her. It just seems more simple and warm.
If they ever make a movie about MTV’s early days, Natasha Lyonne has to play Nina
She sounds nervous.
Before she smoked a carton of cigarettes 🚬 a day that affected her voice!!
She was damn hot at that time, and now she sounds.... not hot when I hear her on the 80s channel on Sirius.
Sadly, Nina sounds worse than Patty and Selma (Marge's sisters)
Pre lot-lizard Nina was FINE!
