I have been saying this for years!!! Nina BLACKLUNG needs to go. Her “radio voice” is long gone and she needs to be gone with it. Original VJ or not, there has gotta me some other 80’s “F-list” celebrity that she can be replaced with.
I change the station every time she is on. Sirius would be in much better shape if they did away with the old DJs and just play the music. I am sick od hearing about their personal lives rambling on it's disgusting.
Ticked me off back then also.. because I was making those mix tapes with my cassette recorder, in addition to all the 45s and albums I bought. AM radio had the worst talkers over the music.
Especially when I can switch the channel before that old hag starts cackling over the wonderful '80s music that we would prefer to listen to without her horrid voice talking over the music
@@MikeSenn64 y’all are in the presence of queen energy don’t insult her! but seriously, i really like her voice and her talking about the songs but i guess i can see where you come from.

@@MikeSenn64 Talking up to the vocal is actually a matter of professionalism to us radio people. That was sure as heck not an add, that was a segue. Daddy, how do I sound like Nina Blackwood? Smoke like a chimney and drink a crap ton of whiskey.

The truth is someone probably pays Sirius to let her be on there as an ego stroke. No one likes her on the radio. Guarantee you $$ is involved. I once worked for a dentist and he fired this gal and her husband came to the dentist and said to the dentist that he would actually pay the dentist out of his own money to hire her and keep her on in the dentist refused but that kind of situation isn’t as uncommon as you can imagine
I was binge watching Breaking Bad again. I think that I channeled Saul Goodman during the last bit of the video. Good catch. PS... Nina Blackwood still sucks.
Update: I gave up on complaining to Sirius XM about Nina's assault on our ears. I cancelled. I remember doing the same thing when that wretched hag would talk so much back before the merger of the two satellite companies.
I agree with you 100% on this video. I'm surprised she still even has a job. It sounds like nails on a chalkboard everytime you listen to her. EDIT: Looked up why she has a raspy voice, here's what she said: "Yes I have always had a raspy voice. A childhood nickname was “Froggy” - hahaha! So, no, it is what it is. As for my career . . . what I do as a job is to verbally communicate so I suppose it has (helped). I think my voice is an acquired taste - hahaha. It is unlikely that I would be hired to do an advertisement for baby food."
When she inhales, she makes a noise like I did trying to inhale when I nearly died from COVID. She either smoked up a storm or had larynx issues/surgery. She sounds like it is a struggle to talk. She should retire already. She's in her mid to late 60s, I think.
Ever since XM merged with Sirius it's gone downhill....we pay for commercial free music, not the same shit terrestrial radio does these days. The inane babbling between songs is awful...and most of the time it's useless information about a concert 1/2 way around the globe, or what the artists childhood was like....ugggggggh just play music.
When Sirius first stated up, that verbose Nina Blackwood stunk up the airwaves. I complained to Sirius that I was paying for content, and not haggard voices talking over the 80s music. That wretched thing is still piping off over the music, over a decade later.

Same here, I cannot stand when Sirius/XM gives a radio show to every artist, I have to turn the channel when Duff Mckagen's, "3 chords and the truth" show comes on.... XM has totally ruined Gn'R for me, several years ago G n' R did a concert for XM, and leading up to the concert the 80's channel, Ozzy's Boneyard, & Hairnation all constantly played G n' R songs, and you'll find that if a band is coming out with a new album or going on tour, they'll play the hell out of that band, it's maddening
Omg 😆 I spat Coke everywhere when I watched this! Up until now I thought ole girl’s deep voice was sexy! But I’m gay so what do I know lol 😂 every time I listen to my 80’s radio m hear her I’m goin to fall out laughing. I guess it only takes one person to point out someone’s flaws n then you realize them
Yeah all those decades of smoking and probably coke has caught up. I still like to listen to her for the nostalgia I guess, but I remember when I first got a car that had satellite radio and I heard her I had no idea it Nina Blackwood. I too thought to myself “why is this 90 year old woman hosting this? This must be a joke or some gag they were doing”. My heart sank when I found out who it was. I have fond memories of her when she was vj’ing mtv back in the day. So sad😞
Former Dj here, it’s just kinda what we do. It’s called hitting the post.
Absolutely 💯
Nina was there doing VJ in the 80s. Amazing talent, great lady, beautiful voice ❤ 😊👍
I like her voice! ❤
Listen to another station,we loved her on TV as a kid in the 80s. Still do…

Nina should do a PSA to help people quit smoking.

I thought I was the only one who did that!
As Peter Griffin said, ”I’m going to listen to Nina Blackwood slowly die of throat cancer on the radio”😂
I thought the whole idea for a subscription based music service was to avoid commercials and excessive talk.
But that's how it was in the 80's. Talking over intros & outros to songs. Kinda nostalgic if you ask me.

She must smoke 4 packs a day. Hell I am a jock and smoke, but would never go on air sounding like that. She sounds horrible
She totally ruins the channel.
She sounds like that 85 y/o woman that smoked 2 packs a day for 60 years

Rick Springfield is ten times worse he just rambles about nothing it’s terrible.

Show some respect for a pioneer.
She should show respect for the listeners and cut at least 80% of her yapping off the airways.
Some of us like Nina's sexy smoker's voice and it was common to speak over the start and ending of songs on radio by DJ's!
I always hated that talk over the songs. Her voice is one thing, but the hag never shuts up. So much talk. So less airtime of the music.
