Nice! Thanks.
I was a professional cook/baker. When the electricity was out in a big ice storm years ago, my son said that his wife cooked on their kerosene heater. I asked to speak with her.I asked her for advice and she went silent for some time. Then she said,"I am savoring the moment that YOU ask ME for cooking advice!"
My mom used a cast iron pan to put the candles in.
If you placed a can top on the grate it would help to evenly distribute the heat, more. I am talking about using a can lid that has been cut off of a larger can, like coffee tin, or a larger vegetable can.
I think you may be correct.
Great idea!
Good idea, being careful of the edges. I may have a small baking pan used in my toaster oven to distribute heat also.
@@tinadavis9796 I know my dad always had a large coffee can lid, that he smoothed off the edges, and it was always near our gas stove. He would put it under certain pans that had hot spots, the thinner pans. It was a part of the kitchen. With a low flame you can toast bread on it too. In a pinch. But yes that small baking sheet pan would work too.
That’s a great idea
I have been wondering how I could cook indoors in an emergency - and now I know!! I have all these items, and you made it look so easy. Thanks.
Your hair looks cute like that. :) ang
Simple..Easy..Eat!! Nothing complicated or stressful. Perfect!!
That is awesome to know , Thank you Jinne
Thanks:)
Thank you! You’re awesome! I appreciate you!
There are actually tealight ovens commercially available. And cast iron tealight warmers.
A chafing dish is the best. I have two I bought at a resale shop. One for water. One for food. A fondue would work
Cool! Gonna stock up on tea lights!
Great idea! Thank you!
Great example ❤
Good idea using a pan from your mess kit
Hi Jinne, this is the best video ever! Sometimes I just can't think outside of the box. Now I have a way to cook in the house when there's no power. Thank you so much.
Good demo Jinne! Thanks
Everyone should have some matches! Thank you, I would never have thought to have done this inside!
Great idea and so simple
Very helpful video.
Well done!! Thank you
Thanks, Jinne! This will be fun to try with the kids and grandkids.
I absolutely love this - brilliant!!!
Good video thanks for sharing YAH bless !
Awesome
I don’t have a plate like that but I recently tried a cast iron pan with an old toaster oven rack on top and I think that would work! I hope. Have to try it out!
That should work just fine, testing it out will help you decide which pan height is the best for cooking. 💕🇺🇸
@@HomesteadCorner thanks!
Thank you for this video. Im concerned about what to do during power outages. And having parents 94 and 82 I need to step up the learning. I have started buying matches and lighters!!! Now if i could only find one of those wound care kits at Dollar Tree.😂😂
I'm thinking maybe the pan was too close to the candles? You could use a cast iron pan to put the candles in and the cooking pot wouldn't be sitting right on top of the candles.
I think I have everything! Hot diggety dog!
What a Great idea Jinnie I have a fondue pot that I can use tea light candles with as well for such things as soups or stews guess I could cook an egg in it to. Thank You for sharing All of this valuable information 🙏🙏🙏 Kendra
Good to know...thank you!
Thank you for sharing this helpful information!
Thank you - such great info, and so simple for everyone!
Thank you!! 😊
Helpful tip!
Thanks for the demonstration.
I never thought about this, thanks for sharing!
To make your fuel in your lighter go further light one candle then use 1 uncooked spaghetti noodle to light the other candles. The flour in the pasta is flammable and you can light the other candles. Try it!!!!
Wonderful idea!
I wouldn't have never thought to do this Jinnie. Thanks
SEEMS LIKE A COOL IDEA 👍. VETERANS CAN EAT COLD OUT OF THE CAN , NO SWEAT 🤣🤣🤣🪂, HEY HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY , GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR'S ❤🙏
WOW 😮! I had no idea that those tea lights put out so much heat! I was thinking about getting a second propane camping stove to have as a second burner, but I may just use this idea. A lot cheaper, for sure. Thanks so much.
I'm going to try putting the candles in an electric fry pan that I lost the cord to. Thanks for the thinner pan tip.
Thanks Jinne, great way to cook a.
All the time I have been viewing alternate Cooking Methods, I haven't seen anyone using a Fondue Pot.
I have experiences with Grid down situation, Snow Storm, Tornados and Hurricane and 2 weeks to get new Utilities turned on.
I have Used mine for Various Reasons, keep water Hot, Canned Soup or Stew Hot aswell. Anyway, sure hope I am not the only one that still has one. lol.😂
Correct me if I'm wrong, but, if I remember correctly, a fondue pot works on electricity. That wouldn't be very useful if the power is out.
I do remember going to bridal showers where there was always at least 1 fondue pot among the gifts.... sometimes 2 or 3!! LOL (am I showing my age or what??)
I think there are electric ones, but the originals ( and I *am showing my age LOL) used sterno. I have been thinking of looking for one at some local thrift stores.
@danniemcdonald7675 I can use mine with Tea Candles also
@@danniemcdonald7675 mine uses Tea Candles also.
@@danniemcdonald7675 OOoohhhh... I never had one but, you're right! I forgot about the ones that used sterno! Good call! That might be something to look for at the flea market!
Great idea...now I can have my fried egg sandwich for breakfast in the morning, even when the lights are out! 🤣
Great tip! I think I might have to have Hubby pick up some votive candles or cans of sterno the next time he goes to Walmart! Thanks for the idea!
Love it!! Thank you. I have a good stash of those tea light candles still from 2012 scare. Did not think of using them for cooking.
Great advice!! Thank you!! Merry Christmas to you and your family! ❤
Thank you for this video! I have all of these items in my stash and can now add this method to my "arsenal" of cooking options!
Precooked maccaroni in a freezer bag thaw add cheese kids favorite , pre cooked spaghetti dinners 1 cup in freezer bags take out what you need . Rice precook and freeze in bags thaw add a can of manwich add a can or jar of white beans corn or mixed veggies fills you up always have cookies, pudding cups , frozen cup cakes just to have a sweet desert to make you happy
Hi, YES, I tried this last hurricane outage for coffee. I used a small corning ware casserole and a cake rack,a stainless steel pot. Then a pour over carafe. Was great. Been buying 100 count tea lights and the small votives,50 count, I think, every other shopping trip. Last week I got the last 100 count of tea lights (Wally) . Those packs have been selling quickly. So simple and effective. Also, glad I have a stainless steel set of cookware. Thanks for the demo !!
A lid would hold more heat faster and given the protein white on top of the yolk will also cook that while leaving the yolk soft.
Thank you so much for this video!!! I have been really concerned about how I’d cook anything!!!! It takes a lot of stress off!! Thank you again!!!
Good idea
Thank you for doing this. I was going to try and build a rocket stove.
Have you done any videos for pet food preparedness? We have two cats and a small dog. I did put aside some packets of tuna fish for the cats a few years ago but had to use them when we couldn't find cat food on the shelf. Our dog loves chicken and rice. Sometimes, turkey.
Are these candles hotter than sterno?
My sister-in-law actually cooked her up some eggs and stuff with the candle just to see if she could do it and her family was kind of making fun of her and I was like you know when a time comes they’re gonna be wishing they would’ve paid more attention you just keep up with what you’re doing
Great idea, thanks for sharing.
🙏👍💫❤️🌟✝️
Great idea! Thanks!
This is awesome info! Thank you so much!!!
We need to know alternative ways to cook or heat food, thx for this video.
Excellent idea Jinne.👍
The bigger tealights are really handy to have, they last 3-4 hours.
TFS HC, take care & keep really busy everyone.🎅🎄☃️
I've seen those but the ones I saw were in a plastic outer 'shell' not metal. Would that be safe?
@@nadinefontaine5758 I'm not sure about those, but I get Prices ones, they come in a dozen from Amazon UK, & are in metal holders. I would hope they wouldn't be sold in plastic if it wasn't a safe kind of plastic, & Yankee Candles tealights are sold in plastic holders, so maybe it's the same kind of heat resistant plastic that they use. Hope that helped Nadine. 👍
Good idea I have a bunch of iron skillets I can use in all different size and all different kinds of Racks like u are using and stainless steel pots as usual another good helpful video I was wondering how I could cook turn the power goes out I don't have a grill time for my stove works but if the grid goes down I don't know how to cook now just set up a couple different stations for different parts of whatever I'm cooking happy holidays to you and your family bless evening. And buy those cantioners other people talking about and try those 😊
Simple, I love it
I had not seen you in my feed and had to search you out!
👍👍👍👍👍
Great idea thanks😊
Thank you
This gave me an idea…I have butter warmers you use for seafood. I bet you could cook an egg in one of the ramekins. I’m going to try it.
Thank you for this
A pie plate would work great!
Your hair looks great 😊♥️
also, don't forget about sterno
Hello have a good evening.
Sorry I should have checked voice text before I sent but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about
Is it true to allow space between the candles on the plate? I’ve hear of flash fires from these candles being too close together.
❤❤❤❤❤
K-ute! Hair. Love it up. You look like a young girl.
Thank you, I am still young, only halfway to 100 🤣🤣🤣
Now you’re talking . 👍👍🤣🤣🇺🇸🌴😎🌴🇺🇸🇺🇸
Awesome
