Good morning, I really liked your explanation of the spring removal, could you tell me the name of the tool you used to remove and install the spring please.
Thanks for the great video, the link for the toyotool list the 2jzge no (T) is there a difference between the turbo engine and the standard as far as valve tools go ?
I had to be very careful but I still messed it up on one spring and I had to sand for a long time to clean up the nick I did on the bore. I advise you to try to get the tool aligned as best as you can, just don't hit the bore. It is doable but you have to take your time and lean over. The only other suggestion is to remove the "engine removal hook". Thank you for watching the video.
The GSC kit is universal for both intake and exhaust seals. The OEM valve stem seals are different. Thank you for watching and we welcome you to subscribe. 🤘🏽
If you use the tool and you press down, you should be good. I roughly measured the first ones by taking a measurement of the old valve stem seal and another when I installed the new one. I took the measurement using a small ruler. I only did it for a few of them since once they are down, they are down. Don’t over think it.
So what i do get is when you push down on the tool for the cap and 2 keepers, that the keepers will snap into the valve on the top side. But what i dont get is when you also push down on the cap to remove the cap and keepers, how does that work when you are pushing down and not pulling up ?
The same action is for both removing and installing. The difference is the tool itself. One side has a magnet and the other side is designed differently. The tool is key when performing this job.
i just used some long nose to pull the seals out give it a little wiggle and it should come out just make sure if theyre really old you dont leave any rubber rings that peeled off around the valve guides
@@johnpierce149 pretty easy. You set the cylinder you are working on to “bottom dead center” and stuff it with rope. Than you slightly go up to Top Dead Center till you get some resistance and stop. Than you are ready. The rope prevents the valve from going down. Just make sure you stuff it with rope and compress it.
Hello and thank you for this explanatory video, which I'll bookmark! I have a quick question; I'm having trouble getting in touch with Toyotool. Do you know where I can purchase their tool? I'm French, so it's challenging to call them by phone. They don't respond to emails. Thanks for everything
@@DriversTherapy yes I went to their site and yes it offers ordering by paying directly with PayPal but that does not include shipping costs abroad, for me France, I would not want to lose my money for a tool which I will never see the color…, and I do not respond either by e-mail or by message on their eBay account, unfortunately.
Hey Man, i also need to do this soon.. is it the VMT68 for the toyo tool that you got? I also got a valve stem remover tool from amazon for like $10 bucks and the powerdynamics (24) valve stem seals... trying to figure out what else I should replace along with doing the job... how long did it take you and what do you recommend to replace? I've also seen people use like a string or compressor to keep the valves falling down into the pistons... how did you keep yours on while removing the valve stems?
I used the rope method. I attached the link to the rope DIY and valve replacement. It was helpful. I also recommend using a known brand of valve stem seals. Don’t go cheap because the work to do them is a lot. If you need help or advice you can email me. My email is on my channel information page. I also recommend the Toyo tool.
@@alexchen4095 if you want, I can lend you the tool. Just pay for shipping both ways and I am cool with that. The rope method is easy to do unless you have access to solid source of compressed air. I would also get some sand which bags and egg cartons to make sure you remove the valve train and keep track of it so you done lose or mix the parts up.
@@DriversTherapy I appreciate that man, I'll keep that in mind for whenever I'm closer to doing the work (might be a few months) when I can get the parts and stuff. Did it take you a weekend to do the job?

Thanks, man! Appreciate it. The car doesn't smoke anymore and I am so excited about that.
Wow bud. Happy for you. 😃😃 my supra started smoking recently so I need to exactly what u did. 👏👏
Good job, thank you for taking the time to document and post this.

I thought air compressor into one of the spark plug so you wont drop a valve while doing this
You can use rope or air. Thanks for watching.
You made it look easy! Nice video!
Thanks KP! Off camera, it was some work and my shoulder hurt for a few days pushing on that darn thing. 🥸
What did u put in the cylinder holes so that the valves dont fall in when u remove the keepers and stuff ?
Rope.

Hi! Thanks, it is called Toyotool. Here is the website: www.toyotool.com/
Thanks for the great video, the link for the toyotool list the 2jzge no (T) is there a difference between the turbo engine and the standard as far as valve tools go ?
I would browse the website to double check but I think it should work fine. 😎 Thank you for watching our video. 🤘🏽
I’m new to the scene so I’m not too sure yet but I would guess that this also applies to the 2jz ge vvti engine as well ?
Correct. And if you need any help or have questions, please let me know.
How did you hold the valve in place i see no air line compressor in the cylinder
Did you watch the full video?
I may have missed this part but when the keepers, springs and seals are out, what is stopping the valve from dropping into the cylinder?
Yes, the most important part is to make sure you use compressed air or stuff rope in the cylinder, otherwise you will be in the big trouble.
@@DriversTherapy haha ok. I figured I must have missed something. When you pulled the retainer off I almost had a heart attack.
@@SDSGarage89 haha ya I stuffed rope in it. 🙂🤘🏽
@@DriversTherapy sick. Thanks for the Vid, super helpful and this may be in my future. Love the Supra.
@@SDSGarage89 thanks! Let me know if I can be of any more assistance.
Do you have to oil the valve stem when inserting it?
Yes, always oil new rubber parts. Help with install and prevents a dry tear.
Did you pressurized the cylinders?
No, that is what the rope is for.
@@DriversTherapy ah... Didn't notice that. Thanks.
Is the head removed to do that ? I can’t tell. I know some people put compressed air in the cylinder to prevent the spring from moving
No, the head does not need to be removed. You can do it with the rope or compressed air.
Can you get oil or lubricants under the new valve stems tk
Sure, no issues. Oil is going to find its way in there anyways.
Great video! How did you manage cylinder 6 springs with the tool?
I had to be very careful but I still messed it up on one spring and I had to sand for a long time to clean up the nick I did on the bore. Probably a good idea to do the valve spring upgrade as well as do cams when we do this?
Not really. If you are stock, your valvetrain should be fine. No reason to change it unless you are running more power or is part of your build plans.
Th GSC kit you linked, does that fit both intake and exhaust side? They are same size on both sides?
The GSC kit is universal for both intake and exhaust seals. The OEM valve stem seals are different. Thank you for watching and we welcome you to subscribe. 🤘🏽
Are u supposed to be able to get a pic under the valve stem seal or should it sit flush ? First time and dont want to redo it

i just used some long nose to pull the seals out give it a little wiggle and it should come out just make sure if theyre really old you dont leave any rubber rings that peeled off around the valve guides
Nice but just be careful not to scratch the bore where the buckets sit or it can cause a big issue.
@@DriversTherapy yeah I just grab around the outside wiggle comes free n then clean up with a pick
