    My youngest daughter applied a lot of Josh's (and his friend's) suggestions to her application. She will be in Yale's Class of 2022. Great advice I am sure it helped her stand out!

      From the people you have talked to at Yale, what seems to be the general SAT score range? Stressing over SAT score

      I am thinking about writing my essay on my passion for solving Rubik's cubes because it is genuine and unique to me. It taught me that if I put in the work, I can achieve anything considering I thought that I could not do well in school when I started cubing. I never thought I could become as good as I was, as I have a terrible memory and many people doubted me. Do you think this is a good essay topic or will admission officers not like it because its not an activity well known like a sport

    Thanks for the advice. If you ever get the chance, I would love to see a video on how to deal with stress during junior year, during college applications, mental health, how you took breaks and dealt with the not so good days. Thanks!

    I’ve been thinking about college since I was 10 (I’m 14 now) and I’ve been attached to Yale, Boston University, MIT and couple more since. I’ve already started writing some scholarships essays but I haven’t submitted anything yet. This was super helpful thank you ❤️

    I'm a junior, and I have a list of around 18 schools and I need to narrow them down but my main concern is money. Although I may not like certain schools compared to others, I have to keep them on because I know they would be financially a good option that I would be okay going to. So ugh this is gonna be a lot of work for applying but I can't predict what any one school would give me, even with a net price calculator. I wish there was something to make this easier but sadly there isn't :(

    • @michaelegozi8114
      @michaelegozi8114 6 лет назад +2

      Most schools have a financial-aid need-based package that can be earned by you once you apply and get in. That is a whole different story though. Maybe Josh wants to do a video about FAFSA and other things like that. But regardless, it's honestly not about where you go, it's about what you do when you get there.
      Stay positive, hope this helps!

    Hey Josh! I understand that Yale is world-renowned when it comes to the humanities, but do you have an idea on how good Yale is when it comes to STEM subjects? Three of my friends got accepted to Yale, but all of them turned the offer down since they believed that Yale wasn't too great when it came to the hard sciences. Is this true?

    If there was one thing I could change about my life, is to go back in time and fix my freshmen and sophomore grades as quickly as I could. I left freshmen year with a 1.1 GPA and sophomore year as a 1.0 GPA. At that time I didn't realize how much I wanted to go to Yale. The history and the opportunity fascinates me. But I'm starting my Junior year and I am willing to spend 24 hours a day to my studies and get the highest grade possible but I feel like it's not going to be worth it at the end. Playing baseball and also trying to get good test scores is too much to deal with and I'm stressing every night just thinking of how I messed up. In your opinion, what would you say about this, should i stop trying and go to another college or keep going. I know my possibilities are like .01 to none but I want to do everything I can these last 2 years to make it. Please if anyone could help me in this? I can't even sleep thinking about Yale and trying to forget the possibility is draining me..

    Someone help me. I live in India (born in the US) and I am currently in 9th grade. My dream school is Yale, and I’m pretty sure I can score As all throughout till 12th. But the problem is that in India, studying is basically everything. People judge you based on your marks, and don’t give importance to anything else. There are not a lot of extracurricular stuff happening, like volunteering isn’t even a thing here. I’m wondering what I should do :(

    • @ayyu4967

      Would I get deferred even if there are not a lot of extracurriculars happening I could participate in?

    I'll be a freshman (in high school) next year, and my school told me there was a conflict w/ two of my classes. They said I'll have to choose between continuing French or starting AP Seminar (the highest English class a freshman can take). Which one will look best on an application?

    • @michaelegozi8114
      @michaelegozi8114 6 лет назад +1

      The more rigorous class is not always better, especially if you don't do as well. However, if you feel up to the challenge, go for it!
      I took AP Capstone Seminar this year and it is a lot of learning to write essays and papers and things of that nature.
      Hope this helps!

    Hey Josh! I’ll be heading into 9th grade next year and will be taking 3 honors classes. (idk if it matters which ones but I will be taking honors bio, Spanish and English and I have the option to take 5 honors classes, the ones I’m not taking being honors geometry and honors global history 2) Is that enough to get into a relatively competitive school if I build on that number of honors and ap every year, eventually working up to mostly AP junior year?

      Michael Egozi i don’t know hoe your school works but my freshman year I had all honors even in the classes that I was particularly strong in. In my school honors classes has a five percent weight so for example I would probably be getting a 90 in regular english, in honors I was getting a 95 or above because of the weight. Also the harder course also helps build your skills so I would recommend taking all honors. Jumping from a regular class to a ap class would be very hard.

    Hi what not Carnegie Mellon, Rice or Vanderbilt? Tbh Yale is amazing but not known for engineering.out of the liberal arts Swarthmore in PA has a good engineering program as well. The only liberal art that offers that and top three liberal art nationally. Anyways Yale is amazing! Congrats
