Could you do a video on how to write better? Ik you have the college essay videos, but after your experience taking college English so far, I was wondering if there is anything interesting you learned?
Can someone explain to me why sports is such a big deal in college in America? I don't mean this in a condescending way but I am just curious, cause here in the UK sports is not a part of our college (we call it university) life. Thanks! Love the vids Josh
Jay_M Its a big revenue thing. University (we have college and university, they are different here) sports bring in millions of dollars a year, especially football and basketball so a lot of funding and scholarships are put towards them. The Ivy League started having sports team a long time ago and then I️t evolved in what I️t is today. Sports are a really large part of American culture too. Sports also help students find different universities. The places my cousins go, they found through collegiate sports!
American society, at the cutting edge, is very competitive. The sports culture at the elite universities gives participants a chance to compete not just to win but also to experience the stresses of competition, and to develop a better sense of the opponent's effort. Our sports culture is very rooted in the British concept of the tournament but also reflects aspects of our historical development: our regional and school rivalries, our religious disputes, our towns, counties and states. As a sideline to our serious disagreements it gives us a common focus on advancement according to performance, and a way to confront some of our deep racial and political differences.
Ive noticed that UK universities have a few national sports such as, rowing and rugby, and equine, and probably tennis, and football (soccer) is big in UK..
Love your videos! can you ask people you interview about their academic records/stats from high school? something in general like gpa, sat/act ex's :)))
Thanks @Josh. Fascinating. Would you and Walker post an update? How did he continue to handle academics and sport over the intervening year(s)? And/or, would you do one with a female athlete in a different sport, to see how that is same or different? Thanks!

How does he have the time to study as a student athlete at a prestigious school? Any hints? Also, does he take a full load of classes?
